How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?
Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :
Good Housekeeping recommends you vacuum your mattress every three-to-six months, while other sources recommend mattress vacuuming on a monthly basis. If someone has allergies in your home, you may need to vacuum more frequently to remove dust and other allergens.
Q: What shampoo can I use in my Kirby? A: You should only use genuine Kirby Carpet Shampoo in Kirby shampoo systems. For a fragrance-free option, please try Kirby Unscented Carpet Shampoo!
For those without access to a vacuum, setting the mattress outside in the sun is an excellent way to dry out any moisture and freshen things up. If you can stand it upright and lightly beat it, you will be amazed at how much stuff comes off in a cloud.
Put simply, the answer to this question is “yes”. In fact, carpet cleaner might be the best at-home cleaning option that you have to clean your mattress.
Regular vacuum cleaners are designed for cleaning floors and carpets and may not be suitable for cleaning mattresses. Mattress vacuums, on the other hand, are specially designed to remove dust mites, allergens, and other debris from mattresses.
Sprinkle baking soda on the mattress, let it sit for 30 minutes to two hours, and then vacuum it up. How do you get a smell out of a mattress? Sprinkling baking soda on top of the mattress will neutralize odors. Once you vacuum up the baking soda, let the mattress air out.
Instead of depositing soapy water on the carpet, the Kirby Multi-Surface Shampoo System works a thick foam onto the carpet fibers. This scrubs and emulsifies any caked-on dirt and grime. The dirt and thick foam is then collected in the Multi-Surface Shampoo System tray.
Q: How come there is no foam coming out of the shampoo system? A: To produce foam properly, the suds screen and foam sponge must be in place on the shampoo tank. To check this, remove the tank and make sure they`re properly in place.
Vacuum Thoroughly
Using your vacuum`s upholstery attachment, clean the entire surface of the mattress. Make sure to vacuum the sides of the bed to remove dust, and stretch the fabric to remove debris from seams.
We recommend using disposable paper towels or old bath towels that are ready to be tossed. Create a solution with 50% white vinegar and 50% water in a spray bottle, and mist the area lightly. Vinegar will help break down the stain and neutralize the odor. Let the area air dry.
How long does it take a mattress to dry? It may take your mattress anywhere between 24-48 hours to completely dry after it has been soaked with water, depending on the material it is made from and how saturated it is.
After cleaning, you can sprinkle a layer of baking soda on the wet mattress surface and allow it to soak up the excess moisture. Then vacuum the baking soda off the mattress to dry it. You can also put the mattress under a fan indoors or out in the sun to allow it to dry completely.
If you have a mattress encasement, it takes only a couple of minutes to zip off the encasement and throw it into the machine. If you don`t have an encasement, routine vacuuming could take 10 or so minutes.
And if left undisturbed, it also becomes a breeding ground for bacteria, dust mites, and different harmful pathogens. While you sleep, you`re left exposed to that unsanitary air. Breathing it in can make you sick, especially if it`s left to build up over time. That`s why it`s important to vacuum underneath your bed.
Though too small to see with the naked eye (only about . 33 millimeters long), dust mites are easily visible through even a cheap microscope. You can pick up an inexpensive microscope from any store that sells toys, a hobby store, or a thrift store and use it to discover whether your home has dust mites.
Steam cleaning – sweat, dirt and stains can easily penetrate beyond the top layer of your mattress so treat it to a steam clean every few months. Vacuum the mattress first, run the steam cleaner across the whole surface then allow to dry.
Baking soda is a natural deodorizer which makes it perfect for cleaning a mattress. It`s also relatively mild, which means you can use it on fabrics safely without fear of damage. Combining baking soda with vinegar is a well-known cleaning tip for shifting difficult stains.
Spray directly onto your mattress and allow it to sit for a few hours. Vacuum to remove any dead skin and mites before making your bed. This spray not only disinfects your mattress, but it also helps keep bugs away. Vinegar can work as a deterrent to keep spiders, ants, and even mites away.
Yellowing sheets are primarily due to body sweat and oils, including lotions we put on to rejuvenate our skin overnight, according to textile engineer Vikki Martin, vice president of fiber competition for Cotton Incorporated.
Mix a 50/50 solution of water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray the stain and blot with a clean cloth, repeat until the stain has disappeared. Sprinkle baking soda over the patch and hoover it up an hour later, before letting your mattress air dry.
Kirby vacuum prices are higher than many vacuums found at big-box stores, but that`s because Kirby vacuums are made of durable materials that will last for years. Why replace an inexpensive vacuum over and over again when you can purchase a Kirby vacuum? This complete home cleaning system that will last for a lifetime.
Jim Kirby created the first Kirby vacuum cleaner in 1906, and ever since, The Kirby Company has continuously improved its American-made, hand-crafted Kirby Home Cleaning System design to ensure best-in-class performance. Millions of customers from around the world trust Kirby to keep their homes` clean.
The Kirby shampoo takes 2 hours to completely dry, at the most. I also noticed that clean-up was a lot easier. The Kirby shampoo rinses away clean with just cold water, taking the dirt with it.
If you`re smelling rubber, the belt has either burned out and snapped or the belt has become so stretched out that the roller is not moving and the vacuum belt is getting super heated from the motors RPM.

Roomba keeps saying clean brushes yet are clean!
ANSWER : Make sure you take off the little cap at the end (the one that spins — just grab it and pull it straight off) and clean under it too. The rest of the brush may look perfectly clean but what happens is that hair gets stuck under spinning cap and, like a slowly growing washer, it pushes the whole brush toward the gear box. When it gets pushed over enough, the large yellow ring starts to rub against the side of the brush deck making it harder for the motor to turn the brush and you get that “remove and clean brushes” message.

power, and all seems fine and then it goes back to
wanting the filters cleaned. The suction is also
not working to full capacity.
ANSWER : Because the suction is not working fully it feels that the bags must be full and the air cannot be pulled through the bags. It could be due to 1) bags not being of correct quality. The air has to pass through them to allow all the dust to reach there. 2) There being real low suction due to a blockage somewhere. Check and remove he blockage.
