They are majorly used to remove dirt and dust from upholstery, carpets, velveteen furniture and floors made of hardwood and many varieties of floors, including laminated floors. They are also used to clean cars and stairs.
To use the cleaner, you turn on the fan motor and attach a hose to any of the various pipe outlets throughout the house. The dirt is sucked into the pipes and deposited in a large canister, which you empty only a few times a year. For more information, see How Central Vacuum Systems Work.
The level you set your vacuum depends on the height of your carpet. For bare floors, use the lowest or bare floor setting, for short and medium pile carpets use a medium setting and finally, for plush carpets use the highest setting.
How Vacuum Switches Work. Once the switch registers a change in the negative pressure based on the preset sensitivity of the setpoint, the diaphragm of the switch will open or close the attached circuit, turning off or powering on a device. Vacuum switches can be used with NO and NC states.
Most vacuum cleaners are equipped with HEPA filters, also known as high-efficiency particulate arrestor. HEPA filters collect dust and disinfect. They are effective against harmful bacteria, dust-mites and other contaminants. Some vacuum cleaners feature both, a HEPA filter and a UV disinfection technology.
It really depends on the type of carpet and how much traffic it gets. According to Shaw Floors, manufacturer of carpet, vinyl, hardwood and laminate flooring, you should vacuum the traffic lanes in high-traffic areas daily and the entire area twice a week.
On average, According to Consumer Reports, vacuum cleaners last a median of eight years. But the lifespan varies wildly by not only brand but your own personal use. This should be expected.
A vacuum cleaner can run continuously for 30 – 60 min each time. The vacuum cleaner has no suction power. For example, a hair cannot be sucked up.
Vacuum cleaners are not only effective at excellent cleaning , they are also easy to use. Cleaning is quick with vacuum cleaners as they save time and manual effort.
“We would recommend vacuuming at least once or twice a week—and more often if we have pets—with the right tools to remove dust quickly and effectively,” Patel advises.
A perfect vacuum (100%) as measured in all units including PSI, mmHg, Torr, mbar or inHg, is 0.
For most models, the lowest setting is optimal for bare floors or thin carpeting. The middle setting offers the best suction for slightly fuller carpets. The highest setting is best for plush carpets or area rugs.
Vacuum switches can have an electro-mechanical or solid-state switch construction.
What is a Good Suction Power for a Vacuum Cleaner? An upright cordless vacuum cleaner should have at least 100 air watts to effectively clean a variety of floor surfaces, with the best Samsung vacuum cleaner reaching up to 210W*.
The first, and arguably most important, part of the vacuum cleaner is the suction motor. This is what creates the vacuum pressure and suction power by utilizing a rotating motor fan.
In a vacuum chamber, the pressure can be extremely low. So low, in fact, that water can actually boil at room temperature. So, if you put some water in a high-vacuum chamber you will see it boil.
Regular vacuum cleaners are not designed to pick up water and other liquids. If you are ever tempted to run the vacuum cleaner over a puddle of water, remember that you run the risk of electrocution and serious damage to the machine.
Yes, you can use a vacuum cleaner to clean your hardwood floor, as long as it has a specific wooden floor cleaning attachment. The ordinary attachments and bristles could scratch, mark or dent your hardwood floor.
Fine particles. Fine particles are no match for even the strongest vacuums. Construction dust, makeup, used coffee grounds, fireplace ash, and other fine particles can burn out the motor and be released back into the air. It`s best to sweep these items up to keep your vacuum – and yourself – safe.
Start with three sets and, over time, work up to five sets for serious results.” Once you`re able to do five, 60-second supine stomach vacuums, Sturla suggests progressing the exercise via the quadruped variation i.e. on your hands and knees.
It depends on what needs vacuuming. Carpeted areas that aren`t used by four-legged fur-friends should be vacuumed twice every week. Hardwood and tile need the least amount of upkeep and should be vacuum cleaned once per week.
Most vacuum makers recommend cleaning or replacing filters at set intervals—and those intervals vary wildly. Tineco, for example, recommends cleaning the filters on its stick vacuums after every few uses, while Miele says you need to change its vacuum filters only after every fourth bag change.
Generally speaking, between the hours of 9 am and 7 pm, you`re pretty safe to vacuum. This will vary from place to place, and you should always consider the needs of your neighbors. Generally speaking, between the hours of 9 am and 7 pm, you`re pretty safe to vacuum.
If the filter bag or canister is too full, it cannot pick up any additional particles and will simply jam or the motor will overheat and shut down. So, when you suspect your unit is about 75 per cent full, empty it!

My kids were in charge of the Rainbow, but they moved out. My husband surprised me by cleaning a dirty rug. Neither of us know how to use the Rainbow, but I at least know that you’re supposed to use water. Will it damage my Rainbow that he did not use any water when he vacuumed?
ANSWER : Your Rainbow might have been damaged. It would be advisable to take the machine to a shop and have them do a cleaning on it. The water is the filter, and there is a separator between the water and the motor. The separator only prevents the water from entering the motor. The dirt that goes in the water is no longer airbourne, so it cannot enter. Without water, the dirt is still airbourne and some of it could have entered. I am sure that most of what was picked up landed in the basin. Is the separator(the little nut on the bottom of cleaner holds this in) full of fluff? Take off the separator nut(there should be a wrench/toothbrush tucked in under the cleaner that is used to remove separator and clean it.) Is there fluff visible up in the machine? If so, definitely take it to a shop. The separator must be cleaned after every use. Never store water in the basin. Those are the 2 main rules for care and use of your Rainbow. Well, good luck with your Rainbow. They are truly great vacuums. Let me know if this helped you. Thanks Rene(the VAcuum Doctor)

I put water & cleaner in top tank. That’s all I know to do. Do I put any water in bottom tank? I figured not, since that is probably where the water goes when sucked up by vac. Do I leave lid on bottom tank? I usually use a commercial cleaner, and this is very different. I need to know NOW, as I must return it to her today, and I’m

lost my user manual never used it to pick up water. need to know how to puit it in wet mode i want to clean the dirty water out of my pool.
ANSWER : .Vacuuming Liquids
.1. When picking up small amounts of liquid
.the filter may be left in place.
.2. When picking up large amounts of liquid
.we recommend that the filter be
.removed. If the filter is not removed, it
.will become saturated and misting
.may appear in the exhaust.
.3. After using the vac to pick up liquids,
.the filter must be dried to reduce the
.risk of possible mildew and damage to
.the filter.
.4. When the liquid in the drum reaches a
.predetermined level, the float mechanism
.will rise automatically to cut off
.airflow. When this happens, turn off
.the vac, unplug the power cord, and
.empty the drum. You will know that the
.float has risen because vac airflow
.ceases and the motor noise will
.become higher in pitch, due to
.increased motor speed.
.IMPORTANT: To reduce the risk of damage
.to the vac do not run motor with float
.in raised position
