Kirby Sentria I bought my kirby sentria just before we were to move house and although I have the instructions somewhere, they will be boxed up and I so want to clean the carpets before I move. Problem is that I don’t know whether the belt should be on or off when using the big silver front with the Kirby insignia on it. Kirby shampooer dispensing – NOT a filter problem
ANSWER : I had the same problem and I called my local Kirby guy, he’s great, helped me when I thought I blew my kirby up, it was just a cord and he wa able to tell me that over the phone. When I called him with this problem, he knew right away that it was only putting out a thin strip in the middle only. The first thing was I needed that little screen, the second was the hole where the screen goes has a white tube that goes from that hole to the bottom of the tank, its kinda in the corner and I never thought it would have anything to do with the problem. He said I needed to run hot water in it and clean it cuz I was going to have to blow in it, yes, with my mouth. I ran it under hot water for a few minutes and then with hot water in the hole, blew into it. I did this a few times, checking the tube ending each time. After a few times, water was shooting freely through the tube. Problem solved, I think, I’ll be shampooing tonight so i’ll know for sure then. An alternative to blowing with your mouth would be using a can of air, didnt think of it till now and I have 1!

I have owned my kirby sentria for 2.5 years and have had no problems until now. The vacuum still works but I cannot lower it all the way down or the light will turn off and it will start to smell like something is burning inside. I use it on the 2nd or 3rd setting with no problem. I have changed the belt and cleaned all the hair and strings that were on the roller but it still has this problem.
ANSWER : Kirby has a 3 yr back to base guarentee so contact ur local rep or kirby direct and thy will sort it all from there, hope this helps 🙂

I have the same problem as steve967 The dyson dc16 is fully charged, runs well for 5-10 seconds and shuts down. I wait for a second or 2 and it runs again for 5-10 seconds. This will continue for numerous cycles, until I am finished cleaning. I have cleaned all the filters, and the power is good, The system will just not stay on. It is just over 2 years old. A friend of mine had the same problem with his Dyson DC16 after just a couple of months and has replaced his Dyson with a Black N De

I am going to sound like a broken record but here is my same answer to another person with the same problem.
I have I had the same problem with my Dyson DC16, where it only runs for a few.seconds at a time with each trigger pull. My husband called Dyson.(Canada) and without hassle they shipped us a replacement part which I.just received this morning. The replacement part sent to us is: DC16.Main Body with Rating Plate. It is also under warranty for 1 year. The.great customer service makes up for the flaw in the machine. Also,.Dyson is aware of the problem. Hope this helps.

KIRBY 5 PROBLEM
ANSWER : Make sure the lever it the very back of the machine is in the on or drive position, make sure the height is up high enough ( the higher the better as long as it is still cleaning – lower is not better ) and change the belt even if it isn’t broken they can stretch out in less then a year of use.

ANSWER : You have looked into various facts since you are motor engineer
So there can be two problems

- It Could be the a/c cord, a problem with the noozle not pushing the safety.switch, the bag emptor (bottom of outer bag) isn’t on the of the way and.not engaging the other safety switch

- Common fault is the mains lead broken internally, unplug from the side.of the machine after removing the little cover where the wire goes in..You can use a kettle lead to test the hoover.
If this does not cure it most likely the motor brushes are worn.

My Kirby G5 has a power problem. Its handle needs to be tiltled all the way to almost flat position for the power to comne on. If the handle is back up to its standing postion, the power will be off. What’s the cause of this problem? Any suggestions/comments will be greatly appreciated!!!
ANSWER : Sounds like u may have a problem with the cord connection inside the power plant would suggest u take to repair shop not something i would suggest u try yourself

Hoover Mach 5 turns off after 5 minutes of using. Can you advise the problem?
ANSWER : 5 minutes everytime? If so, raise brush all the way, and vacuum next to nothing. in fact, tilt vac up so the brush touches nothing. wait 5 minutes. If it doesn’t shut off, your brush is set too high. if it does, the motor is over heating. make sure bag is empty, no debris in brush, filters clean and make sure you’re not plugged into an outlet that a breaker on the outlet can pop too.
