Vacuums\015 Hi..I went to fill my Hoover Steam Vac and the hole is open at bottom. I went to machine and a black post with a spring on it (reminds me of inside on a pen) was just lying there. I tried to figure out how to attach it back, but I wonder if another part is missing. There is a rubber gasket on the base that it fits onto, but it doen’t remove.\015

How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

Scope out all the vacuum lines under the hood. Then start the engine and spray each connection with a light stream of water. If a connection sucks in the water, you`ve found your leak. A vacuum leak can cause a rough idle, high rpm, poor gas mileage and even trigger a check-engine light.
Insert the broom handle and stretch out the leaky area. Use strips of duct tape to seal the crack. Overlap the strips to get the best seal. Sprinkle some talcum powder or cornstarch on the floor and vacuum it up.
Vacuum leaks can develop in many locations, including the intake manifold, throttle body evaporative emissions system, power brake booster, and several other places, because some vehicles have a multitude of vacuum hoses.
Driving with a vacuum leak should not be done because it causes a loss of power to your engine. This can be unsafe while driving down the road, especially if the leak increases as you are driving.
Dangers of Ignoring Vacuum Leaks

As the vacuum pressure spurts out of the leaking hoses, it can overheat the engine, disable the engine systems it powers, and even create a damaging compression and timing issue.

Driving with a vacuum leak elevates temperatures within the engine compartment by running on a lean air-fuel ratio. This mixture over time can damage pistons and bearings, and can move to other parts within the engine, such as the catalytic converter. Over time, damage can move more extensively underneath the hood.
Vacuum leak repair cost varies widely, depending on what is causing the leak. You could end up spending anywhere from $100 to $1,500. If it`s just a hose that`s leaking, and the leak is obvious, the mechanic just needs to install a replacement hose. Expect to spend $50-$100 on labor, plus the cost of the hose.
A vacuum leak can affect your automobile in two specific ways. First, it will hinder your engine`s performance. Second, it will reduce the vehicle`s fuel economy. Your car, truck, or utility vehicle uses the vacuum created by the combustion process to power accessories and components.
Acceleration Loss

When your car is leaking vacuum pressure, this adds excess air into the engine and creates an imbalance in the air and fuel mixture that is used to generate engine combustion. The excess air will cause your vehicle`s acceleration to sputter or refuse to respond when you try to pick up speed.

Hissing and/or Suction Sounds

The hissing sounds you hear are the vacuum leak. If you have a serious engine vacuum leak, you may also hear suction sounds. These sounds mimic the noise that your household vacuum hose makes.

As a general rule, if the repair is going to cost less than half the cost of a new vacuum cleaner, it`s best to go ahead and get it repaired. When the service tops half the price of a new machine, it`s probably best to invest in a newer model.
This is certainly the case with leak detection, with four main methods being employed: the bubble test; pressure decay test; pressure rise test; and helium sniffer mode/helium vacuum mode tests.
On a fuel injected motor, a vacuum leak can cause the engine`s RPM at idle to increase. In fact, it`s possible to double the idle speed if the leak is significant enough. When a vacuum leak is detected, the O2 sensors on the engine will detect extra oxygen is entering the intake manifold.
A vacuum leak will cause the engine to run lean. In other words, there will be more air entering the engine than is needed to balance out the air/fuel ratio. This can result in the following: Engine stalling.
A-It`s normal for the engine to have a slight vibration and shake at an idle. However, it`s possible the excessive vibration is the result of a vacuum leak. This could be caused by improper installation of the intake manifold gasket.
Vacuum leaks, especially those that are confined to one cylinder, will cause the engine to idle unevenly and possibly misfire. This is because the vacuum leak allows additional air to reach the affected cylinder, diluting its air/fuel mixture.
How long do vacuum cleaners last? According to Consumer Reports, vacuum cleaners last a median of eight years. But the lifespan varies wildly by not only brand but your own personal use.
You can and should pull a vacuum, look at the reading on the manifold gauge set, let it sit for some amount of time (overnight is best), and see if the vacuum reading drops, because if it does, there`s a leak somewhere.

I noticed the Roomba’s brushes were not sweeping, or turning so they could sweep. There was a new sound coming from the machine, the sound of grinding nylon! Upon inspection, I determined the problem to be a heat melted gear support hole. The hole was no longer round but oblong. You could see a ridge of plastic around this hole. So melting I believe was the culprit. The gear that uses that hole was then able to tilt to one side, thereby allowing the gear to disengage from the drive train. I
ANSWER : Be sure to keep your brush bearings clean. If they get clogged, the brushes don’t turn and the drive sockets can get damaged.

Leaking My new hoover steamvac with clean surge is leaking. As soon as I fill liquid into vaccum cleaner, it leaks withing 2-3 minutes. It makes my whole carpet wet…

Sangeet

ANSWER : My machine leaked badly BUT it was my own fault. There is a one-time.only setup procedure where you squeeze the trigger and push the.Clean-Surge button to lock a rod into place. Push the Clean-Surge.button VERY HARD. There will be a loud SNAP which sounds like you broke.something, but you didn’t. I didn’t push hard enough initially, all I.got was a click which I thought was enough. My machine leaked so I.called the help line. They told me to push the button harder, and sure.enough, they were right. Until you get that snap, the Clean-Surge.(which releases a little extra water-cleaner solution) is on all the.time, hence the leaking

Leaking problem I have a leak in my water tank. It only leaks when it is upright. And sometimes it doesn’t let the water out when I go to clean. What do you think could be the problem
ANSWER : I had the same problem and it was a crack in the plastic near the small rubber valves that let the water out. After having two tanks crack like this I complained to Hoover about the poor design and they sent me a new tank with a new design fee of charge. Obviously they were aware of the problem.

Hoover steamvac when I use it it leaks out of bottom. when it off an water in tank leaks out of bottom, when its off an I pull the triggar it flows big time out of bottom. tank doesnt leak when off sitting with water in it
ANSWER : Let me start out with an apology. I did not ask my question very well – and you did not answer it as I needed.
.If you wish, we MAY be able to communicate in your native language. We can do most indian languages, Turkish, Ukranian and some Russian – as well as Spanish. If any of those are easier for you – please feel free to use any of them.
.
.The Machine storage tanks are 2 – one clean water, one dirty water.
.I understand that, when OFF, no leaks happen.
.I understand that when on a leak comes from “the side”. Also, water comes from the bottom.
.
.So, water comes out near the bottom brushes (even without trigger). Then, with trigger, MUCH water comes out near bottom brushes. Am I correct so far?
.
.Water out the side concerns me. I am guessing that the bottom of the clean storage tank may have a small leak.
.I am also guessing that the trigger valve (located in the small opening behind the black rubber seal that the clean water tank rests on) is not closing all of the way – or is broken (cracked).
.
.Can you please remove the clean water tank and inspect the trigger valve with a torch (flash light). Can you see it open/close as you operate the trigger? Is it broken, cracked, or dirty?
.If yes then it must be replaced. If no, the the storage tank is bad and must be repaired.
.
.You inspect all of these things and you should be able to determine the failure. THEN, I an help you repair the failed item.

ANSWER : Hello,

What you need to do is to but the carpet cleaner on, and in that process you will turn it upside down, make sure there is no dirt inside.

put your face close to the cleaner and try the fill the breeze of the hole, from there you can easily identify here the linkage is from.

Take care.
