Check service panel for tripped breakers/blown fuses. If breaker is tripped, reset it. If fuse is blown, replace it. If vacuum cleaner is plugged in, be sure power button is in the off position before resetting breaker/changing fuse.

How long do Kenmore vacuums last? A. It`s suggested that the typical vacuum can last up to an average of eight years. With proper maintenance, a Kenmore vacuum could last that long or longer.

A canister vacuum will last you eight or more years. Most vacuums in this category are a bit like upright models but feature a larger, more robust body at the lower portion of the machine.

The most common problem with a vacuum cleaner is also the easiest to remedy: clogs in the hose or attachments. Also the electrical cord, motor, switch, fan, brushes, and motor bearings can all need repair or replacement. The drive belt may need replacing; and the attachments, hoses, and filters may need unclogging.

Over time and extended use, a very fine layer of particles will start to line the inside of a vacuum bag, remaining in place even after the bag is emptied. This means that the bag will lose the proper airflow required to let the incoming air escape. As the airflow is restricted, the suction dies down too.

If the motor filter (located below the bag) is dirty, hand wash with soapy water. Rinse with clear water, squeeze out excess water, and allow it to dry completely before returning it to the vacuum. Insert a new dust bag and close the cover.

Canister vacuums are appropriate for hard surfaces, small carpeted areas, and stairs. The motor and dirt receptacle is in a separate unit and there is a suction hose with attachments for floor cleaning. There are three types of canister vacuums with the only difference being in the floor attachment.
Rather than waiting for the canister to fill up all the way, the Vacuum Experts suggest you empty it after every use. If that`s not feasible, “empty the vacuum once it reaches half to two-thirds of the way full as a matter of habit,” the Vacuum Experts blog post recommends.
For rooms with light traffic flow, vacuum the traffic lanes twice a week and the entire area once. For rooms with little to no use, a bi-weekly vacuuming session should suffice. Don`t just give it a quick lick and call it done, either.
Vacuums cleaners can smell from for various reasons; pet dander, moisture was sucked up… The most common cause is old dirt sitting stagnant in the collection chamber, bags, or filters. Vacuum bags should be changed every four to six weeks or once full.

Lid won’t close. I started to put in a new bag but accidentally took out the plastic insert section the bag should attach to–so when I closed the lid over that, I must have pushed a little too hard. Now it won’t com[pletely close! The plastic clasp is intact. Is there anything I can do before having to haul or send it for repair?
ANSWER : Your supposed to take out the plastic part that holds the bag but the way this unit is designed the lid will not close unless everything is inthere correctly so just make sure evverything in inserted correctly and keep trying! DO you still have your bag holder?

I have a roomba 551. Have cleaned and removed every bit of dirt and hair off it bu the brush cage won’t close when the larger bush is put in. The cage will only click locked on one side, and the other side keeps hitting the brush and won’t close. It’s almost as if the bursh itself is not even, but this doesn’t seem to be the case either. ANSWER : Hi, had the same problem, it was like the main brush no longer fit into it’s slot, so the brush cage would not latch. I discovered that the yellow bearing tip on the main brush twists off, and inside I found a lot of hair twisted around the pin. There was so much hair that it had forced the bearing tip to unscrew, making the brush too long to fit in the slot. After I pulled out the hair, the bearing screwed back on perfectly, and it works great now.

Dyson DC07 bin trapdoor won’t stay closed: The small plastic piece on the tip of the center rod on the cylone assembly broke off, so my trap door won’t stay closed. Any idea how to find just that part, so I don’t have to replace the entire cylone part?

Lid won’t close
ANSWER : You have probably closed it by now 🙂 but when this happened to us we .found that if we opened the tool compartment on the lid, the main lid .then closed on the bag with a tiny bit of jiggling around. I don’t know. why, but this worked.

I have a new Kenmore magic bued and I am about to change bags for the first time. Trying to do this the clip that is supposed to hod the bag close to the whole keeps coming off when I replace it and close the lid, turn on the vac the sucction is very low and it keeps showing the bag is full which is not true / what is going wrong here ?

ANSWER : Sorry to hear that you are having problems with you Kenmore Magic Blue.
There is a so-called “bag full indicator”, which will only turn red if it got some major blockage. This is the reason why there is no power suction.
The “full bag sensor is just a spring mechanism that springs closed when there is a blockage. Remove the bag and look for clogs. When using it, check the bag and change it when full, not go by the “bag full indicator.”
