How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

If your battery is not charging and the charger is rapid flashing and the battery is warm, it may be too hot- particularly after heavy or continued use. If so, please allow the battery to cool, then reinsert the battery on charger to try charging again.
Vacuum won`t turn on

Make sure the battery is fully charged, with the vacuum turned off while charging. After many cycles of use or after intense wear, the battery may lose charge over time or wont function at all. Contact Black and Decker for warranty coverage or replace the battery(!!!

Dead Battery

The battery might be dead if your vacuum is not powering up. After charging the battery for half an hour try turning on the vacuum again.

Check that the vacuum cleaner is plugged into a working power outlet and that fuses and breakers don`t need resetting. An activated thermal cut-out due to a blockage is the next most likely cause of the problem. Check for blockages in the hose and filters, and remove any obstructions that you find.

Plugged vacuum hoses are sometimes the reason for a loss in suction. Hoses can get clogged with hair, dust bunnies, string, or anything else that can`t pass through the other end of the hose. Airways inside the machine should be looked at as well. Wherever there is an air passage, check it.

Signs you have a bad battery

According to Matthew Hart, owner of AxleWise.com, signs your battery is going bad include: The car is difficult to start. Once started, the car doesn`t hold a charge for very long. Dim or flickering taillights and headlights.

A fresh battery will plop down without bouncing. It may roll over onto its side, but won`t bounce back up. An older battery will bounce up several times before falling over. Use the battery`s behavior to tell if this is a fresh or old battery.
It`s easy: mix and dissolve Epsom salt and distilled water in the proportion 1/3. The issue can be resolved by adding the solution to the battery cells at the battery terminal until the plates are covered by 1/4 to 1/2.
Don`t leave it fully charged (only recharge it fully just before you need to use it). When it`s not in use, a battery at 100% charge loses capacity faster than one that`s only partially charged.

This is embarassing, but I have just looked at the Dyson DC07 manual and at my Dyson for about 20 minutes, and I can’t for the life of me find the wand release button on my actual Dyson…..the manual pictures don’t look like the parts on my Dyson….I don’t have a hose with a wand release button….the hose just goes straight up inside the handle….Can someone help me? ANSWER : Hi the wand release button is located directly above the the Cylinder release button. The wand release button looks like the picture below. In order to releease the wand you must firstly make sure the Electrical cable is not wrapped up for storage. So unwrap the electrical cable. then find the item as in the picture. Press this button in and at the same time lift the wand. This will realease the wand from the spine of the Dyson. dumfriesdon.jpg

I have a Electrolux , EL6988 Canister Vacum, howeveer the brushes and motor will not run when turned on. I have take the plates and cleaned around the brushes, but it will not come one. No I did not my hose on the dirt devil does not have much suction on it I took everything apart and found nothing wrong no clogs anywhere but when I add an attachment to the hose it loses all suction…I looked for a switch to change from regular vacuuming to attachment found nothing why is this??????? Need a manual where can I find some information and a download on line manual??????
ANSWER : Try this. There should be a little filter unerneath the tank. just clean that filter or replace it. (9 times 10) thats the problem.
