The brush roll or its bearings may be clogged with hair, threads or dirt. Make sure they are clean and the roll spins. The belt may also have slipped because it was loose. Check the fit of the new belt when it is installed.
For a cordless miele stick vacuum cleaner, a temperature limiter switch automatically turns off the vacuum cleaner if it gets too hot. (Some models have a temperature warning light.) Overheating may be caused by a blockage in the vacuum, or due to a full dustbag and/or filters.
The average life expectancy of a mid-range vacuum cleaner is about six years. You can fix or replace things like blocked filters, jammed brush rolls, frayed hoses, worn-out stick vac batteries and broken accessories yourself.
As a general rule, if the repair is going to cost less than half the cost of a new vacuum cleaner, it`s best to go ahead and get it repaired. When the service tops half the price of a new machine, it`s probably best to invest in a newer model.
Typically users get about 50-60 hours of use from the filter before they need to replace it. Every new Miele filter and vacuum cleaner now comes with this Timestrip. To activate the Timestrip, simply push/crush the small green button, and when the bar is full red, it`s time to replace.
The prices for their equipment are high, and it`s not hard to see why. Nearly all of their manufacturing is in Germany, and every component is produced directly by Miele in one of its 12 factories. In one year their Euskirchen factory produces six million motors.
Miele. Founded in 1899, Miele is one of the most popular high-end appliance manufacturers in their home country of Germany and internationally.
Bosch and Miele offer similar cutting-edge dishwashing technologies, but Bosch provides a more affordable solution. Both brands promise a decade or more years of reliable performance with sensor wash technology, flexible loading options, and high-quality materials for long-term use.
The bag is reusable. It needs better instructions though. For instance, it`s washable but if you put it in the machine you`ll ruin it as the plastic part is fragile. It clogs with dust so every other use or so you do need to wash it to keep your suction and other filters from clogging.
The two main indicators to determine vacuum power performance are water lift and airflow. The water lift is measured in mmH2O, mbar or kPa. It represents the suction force and is the reference parameter for vacuuming liquids and heavy materials. The airflow is measured in m3/h or in l/s.
If all you hear from the vacuum unit is a click at the when you try to start the vacuum motor from inside the house, then the motor in the unit is dead and has to be replaced. A strong odor from the shellac, which coats the copper coil windings, is an indicator that the motor is about to or has burnt out.
Excellent Longevity

Most dishwashers will have an average lifespan of around 5 – 10 years but a Miele could last up to 20 years.

If you don`t vacuum your carpet, the dirt will break down carpet fibers and create a breeding ground for dust mites and bacteria. In addition, your home will begin to smell musty from the dirt, mites, and other organisms settling into the fibers.
A washable HEPA filter should be cleaned by rinsing it under cold water. You should be careful not to touch the filter material, only allowing it to come in contact with water. Allow the filter to completely dry before reinstalling it.
Clog located in the vacuum hose

Turn the unit on and feel the suction at the end of the hose handle. If there is no or low suction, then the clog is in the hose. You can remove the clog by running a long, stiff object through the hose, such as a butter knife, starting at the wall end.

Burning smell can indicate motor damage

If you suspect that the motor is damaged, you should not continue to use the vacuum cleaner! The cause of motor damage is usually wear and tear or damage caused by prolonged improper use (e.g. overheating). In most cases, it is not worth repairing.

The Miele Pre-Motor Filter can be found in the dust compartment chamber behind the bag. It should be changed once every three months, or every four bags.

I had the vacuum cleaner question about the canister and the wand/powerhead… the Kenmore Progressive Vacuum canister model 116.25812 and the canister not powering off without unplugging the vacuum. The solution I received that they both run on their own switch so it is normal makes sense. However, is there a power switch on the canister anywhere? The only way for the canister to be turned off is by unplugging it. Any ideas? One would think there would be a switch. I am new to fixya and hope
ANSWER : Hi. On some models, one switch controls all of the power. Your issue, which is no working switch is almost certainly a blown triac on the circuit board in the canister – kenmore part number KC86WBZRZ000

Looks like a common fault with this particular model judging by the number of complaints on the web.

Any suggestions as to what could be causing the vacuum to sound as if the rotating brush is being restricted from turning. There was not odor of burning as if the motor was in a bi
ANSWER : Orecks have a plastic fan inside and everything you pick up hits it, sometimes things can get stuck in there or break the fan locking up the motor. With the machine off, poke around where the dirt goes into the motor, behind the roller and see if you can pull anything out.

Vacuum My vacuum is loosing it’s suction power. I’ve checked the belt and it’s in perfect shape…I’ve bought a new filter cup…I’ve checked for clogs and there aren’t any…I’ve cleaned the entire machine…and I still can’t find the source of the problem.
ANSWER : You checked the belt, but I bet it has stretched and won’t drive the brush roll under load like it should. Belts only last a few months the stretch and should be replaced. Iff you have suction at the hose, then it has to be down below, either belt/brush roll, or the inlet by the brush roll is clogged.

We have a Bissell Proheat Cleanshot 2X Model 9500 Steam carpet cleaner. The first time we used it things were great. The second time we used it it left tracks in the carpet. We have no idea what caused this. We tried using the machine on an entirely different carpet and it did the same thing. After vacuuming the carpet about 10 or 12 times, the tracks are still embedded in the carpet – HELP!!!! We’re read and reread the manual and contacted customer service and received no help.
ANSWER : First things first. It’s only the second time you have used the machine, so it must be fairly new. If you have a receipt and the unit is less than a year old you should take it to an authorized Bissell repair center and have the machine inspected under warranty.

.Otherwise, The jets on this unit clog easily, there are two of them and you can locate them under the recovery tank towards the front of the machine, and blow them out with an air compressor. To prevent the jets from clogging in the future make sure to flush all shampoo out of the machine with clean water when done using it. That is most likely your problem.
.
.If it is leaving black streaks on your carpet it could be coming from a burnt belt or melted brushroller part, in which case inspect the belts and brushrollers and replace the damaged pieces.
