There are three main causes for your Miele to not power on: The power switch has failed. The cord reel is damaged. Your motor has gone bad.
Check that the vacuum cleaner is plugged into a working power outlet and that fuses and breakers don`t need resetting. An activated thermal cut-out due to a blockage is the next most likely cause of the problem. Check for blockages in the hose and filters, and remove any obstructions that you find.
To do this, turn on the vacuum and press the reset button. The service indicator light will turn off and then be reset to its original position. This will only work if the indicator light has already come on, not if the reset button has been pushed between filter changes.

Check the hoses, filters, and rollers if you have a suction problem. A vacuum that loses suction is pretty useless, but the problem is often nothing more than a clogged roller, hose, or filter. To inspect these parts, unplug your vacuum, then turn it over and see if you can manually spin the roller.
Overheated Motor
If your vacuum was working fine and then suddenly shut off, it may have overheated. Most vacuums are equipped with a thermal protector safety switch that won`t allow the motor to run when it becomes overheated. You will need to wait for 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on your machine, to try again.
A strong odor from the shellac that coats the copper coil windings is an indicator that the motor is about to or has burnt out. If the motor is still running, even if it turns on and off by itself as it is heating and cooling, you can still run the motor until it gives up for good.
If you see no change, you can try a Master Reset. This will reset all of the onboard componentry and is often successfully used by appliance technicians. Open and close the door of the washing machine 6 times within 12 seconds. Then, run the rinse/spin cycle without clothing to see if your problems are resolved.
For a cordless miele stick vacuum cleaner, a temperature limiter switch automatically turns off the vacuum cleaner if it gets too hot. (Some models have a temperature warning light.) Overheating may be caused by a blockage in the vacuum, or due to a full dustbag and/or filters.

Electrolux Centralux I have a Electrolux Centralux. When I plug the hose in at one of the wall outlets the motor will not start. If I go to the motor and slap the unit it will start…..then…it will not stop unless I unplug the power cord to the motor. If I plug the power cord back in, the unit will not restart until I slap the motor unit again. The unit has only been used 20 – 30 times. Any suggestions?? Thanks, Bruce
ANSWER : I dont know if you had your unit looked at yet but it sounds like the Power module is going. I repair the machines so I know some of the work.

Power Unit VX475 Stops Working
ANSWER : The problem is NOT the motor. Its that the motor is not being cooled. You have to replace the whole top. Call Nutone and its only a $30 part

I own a Sanyo 35s 3.5 Rice cooker that has stopped cooking and heating. Power is going to the unit power light comes on. We have checked to make sure that the unit was turned off before unplugging as per the instuctions. Unit was new in Feb 2010 and well taken care of. Anything we are missing here?
ANSWER : If you have been washing or scratching the inner pot with something sharp or harsh like a metal spoon or hard sponge it could cause that and even electric shocks. try changing the pot

Our Miele vacuum is only 2/3 years old and seems to have given up the gost, our previous one lasted 15 yrs. The machine starts ok and within 4/5 minutes the power drops down and the hoover comes to a stop and it may re-power itself again within minutes, as of today their is no power when the on button is pressed. What do you think the problem is Thank you.
ANSWER : There is a circut board that is going bad and not providing the power to run the motor. You will need to contact a Miele dealer for that part. It is the only board that is in this machine so they should just need a model number in order to get it for you.

Power Unit VX475 Stops
ANSWER : Received a call from NuTone Tech Support in respone to my telephone call to them about overheating Power Unit. Apparently my VX475 Power Unit was supposed to have been changed during manufacture with a modification to motor circuit/motor parts. NuTone is shipping to me a new modified VX475 Power Unit via UPS and I am to return the defective one to them. No charge to me for new replacement VX475 Power Unit and no charge to me to ship the one I have back to NuTone. “All is well that ends well!”

Blue Moon Miele power head stops intermittantly
ANSWER : It is not a solid short. This is caused by static arcing in the wand and in the connectors from base to hose. I was able to fix mine by smearing some dialectric grease on all electrical parts in the wand(especially by the led switch) and in the three prong connectors at the base to hose. Have not had nay problems since doing this.

Got a Filter Queen Majestic Limited Edition, the one with the high and low power switch, an I have to change the power cord. How can I open the main unit to reach that power cord?

ANSWER : First remove the top cap under your handle.
.Then, remove the three screws under the handle.
.remove the rubber cover on the switch
.undo the clamps on the side of the unit
.lift off the chrome cover with the cord on it by the handle itself.

I have a Hoover Platinum carpet cleaner, and it has stopped dispensing cleaning agent and water. This model has a separate tank for water and separate tank for shampoo dispensing. It also has a power hand unit that dispenses shampoo. All along the hand unit has continued to dispense shampoo. Symptom #1, the water tank seemed to be taking on shampoo, as it was getting sudsy. ANSWER : Somewhere on the outlet is a control tap thats driven by a rubber band and something is up with this control ,best advice here is put it in the boot of the car and take iot to a hoover dealer ,they will do it seconds for you
