How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

To do this, turn on the vacuum and press the reset button. The service indicator light will turn off and then be reset to its original position. This will only work if the indicator light has already come on, not if the reset button has been pushed between filter changes.
There are three main causes for your Miele to not power on: The power switch has failed. The cord reel is damaged. Your motor has gone bad.
The brush roll or its bearings may be clogged with hair, threads or dirt. Make sure they are clean and the roll spins. The belt may also have slipped because it was loose. Check the fit of the new belt when it is installed.
Check that the vacuum cleaner is plugged into a working power outlet and that fuses and breakers don`t need resetting. An activated thermal cut-out due to a blockage is the next most likely cause of the problem. Check for blockages in the hose and filters, and remove any obstructions that you find.
Lack of power, a bad power cord, failed drive motor or broken wires in the vacuum hose can prevent the vacuum cleaner from starting. Make sure the electrical outlet that you`re using for the vacuum cleaner works. Try using a different outlet if you suspect that the outlet you`re using is dead.
A full vacuum bag can also cause the motor to overheat and eventually fail, resulting in costly repair expenses or the replacement of a new vacuum. If you are using an upright vac with a belt-driven system, a full bag will increase the amount of force required to spin the brushroll, which can damage the belt.
The Carpet and Rug Institute recommends replacing or emptying vacuum bags when they are half to two-thirds full. This may seem like a waste of a good bag if you use disposable bags, but it does make a difference and can make your vacuum last longer.
If your Miele washer isn`t spinning at all the drive belt may be broken or damaged. This thin, rubber belt wraps around the washer drum via two pulleys, rotating the drum with the motor`s power. If the belt loosens or frays, the washer drum may not spin smoothly.
Larger items are captured in the dirt bag and smaller items are captured by the filter – until they`re eventually removed. But the absolute smallest particles can leak through and, ultimately, settle within the unit itself. These tiny bits begin to build over time and will eventually start to smell.
Alternatively called the reset switch, the reset button allows devices that utilize it, such as a computer or peripheral to be rebooted. Usually, the button is on the front of the device, next to or near the power button.
Insert the flat end of the tool at 12 o`clock of the circular port and press into it about an inch deep at a 45 degree angle. This will release the port door. You will then see an orange pull string in the region of 11 o`clock in the port. Pull the string and it will release the door mechanism.
If your Shark ION Robot R75 vacuum stops moving unexpectedly after a few minutes of normal movement, it may simply have low battery power. Check that the device is powered on and that the battery has a significant charge.
Check if the bearings on the brush holder are rusted or broken. If broken then it`s better to replace the brushes. The side brushes of a robot vacuum cleaner usually collect the long strains of hair and other debris. As a result, They are prone to get clogged and stop moving.
There are basically only 3 reasons a vacuum sealer bag will fail: The seal line area was dirty/wet/wrinkled when the bag was sealed or made (if made from a roll). Something in the bag punctured the bag. The bag is defective.
Remove the filter and wash it with warm water and one drop of dishwashing liquid. Make sure to rinse it well and let it air-dry completely before putting it back into the vacuum. Once you have everything clean and working properly you vacuum should work like new.
If there is a clog in the vacuum, you won`t have good suction and the vacuum won`t work. The clog can be in the vacuum head, the hose or where the hose meets the actual vacuum.
The suction motor creates vacuum pressure and suction by rotating a motor fan. The impeller rotates at an incredibly high speed of about 30,000 to 35,000 RPM. A suction motor`s power is measured by multiplying the rate of air flow and the vacuum pressure, which induces air flow from the brush through the hose.
On top of your vacuum`s bag door, there should be a small window with an indicator light. When the Miele vacuum bag full indicator turns red, you`ll know it`s time to change the bag.
This may take 8 to 24 hours depending on the hardener selected and ambient temperature. After all the materials are in place, turn on the vacuum source and allow vacuum to be continually pulled until the epoxy has cured.
The bag is reusable. It needs better instructions though. For instance, it`s washable but if you put it in the machine you`ll ruin it as the plastic part is fragile. It clogs with dust so every other use or so you do need to wash it to keep your suction and other filters from clogging.
A senior test project leader stated that one of his top tips for lengthening a vacuum`s lifespan is β€œDon`t let the bag or bin get filled to the brim, which can clog the machine.” In addition to the extra work, dust escaping from a reused bag tends to go right back into the motor, causing damage.
– Vacuum sealed bags are for the short term, no longer than 6 months. If you`re storing clothing sealed airtight in a storage bag, keep track of your items and remember to take them out after six months. Anything beyond six months, you risk them getting permanent damages such as creases and wrinkles, among others.
The Full Dust Bag Indicator in On

It is often recommended, however, that dust bags are replaced when they`re around two thirds full or once a month. Daily and extensive use of vacuum cleaners will create a need to replace dust bags more frequently.

Some of the reasons your washing machine drum is not turning could be a blocked drain pump, an overloaded or uneven wash load, worn-out motor brushes, a drive belt worn loose, an issue with the suppressor filter, low water pressure if excessive foam has been detected and when washing woollens.

My almost new miele Dog and Cat vac keeps telling me the bag is full when it’s not (new bag, no clogs)and I have almost no suction. Any ideas?

Electrolux Epic 6500SR Full Bag sensor working, Does not Reset properly
ANSWER : The problem was a sticking switch that was not being reset. The vacuum on/off switch mechanism is comprised of two switches. One is the main switch that turns the vacuum on and off. The second is a shut off switch that gets tripped when the full bag sensor is engaged. This second switch is supposed to get reset when you push the on/off switch on the outside of the machine. The full bag shutoff switch was stiff and it, therefore, was taking a couple of presses of the on/off switch to move the shutoff switch back into the running position.

I have a new Kenmore magic bued and I am about to change bags for the first time. Trying to do this the clip that is supposed to hod the bag close to the whole keeps coming off when I replace it and close the lid, turn on the vac the sucction is very low and it keeps showing the bag is full which is not true / what is going wrong here ?

Thanks so much for supporting,

Beba

ANSWER : Sorry to hear that you are having problems with you Kenmore Magic Blue.

There is a so-called “bag full indicator”, which will only turn red if it got some major blockage. This is the reason why there is no power suction.

The “full bag sensor is just a spring mechanism that springs closed when there is a blockage. Remove the bag and look for clogs. When using it, check the bag and change it when full, not go by the “bag full indicator.”

Good luck, I hope this helps.

How do I clean the bag? I loaned it to someone that had 4 dogs! Needless to say the bag was very dirty, full of dog hair and smells really bad. I emptied the bag out but still cannot get all the hair out and wondered about how to clean the bag. Can I wash it?

My electrolux vac shut off for a full bag. After replacing the bag the vac won’t start and the bag full light stays on.What should I be looking for to resolve my problem?
ANSWER : If the suggestion that renevacdoc did not work, it is most likely that your valve assembly(full bag control) has gone bad and needs to be replaced. You will have to take your vac to the Aerus/Electrolux dealer/service store for repair.

No suction I am getting no suction on my central vac at the vac. I do not believe that the piping is plugged up, the vacuum is not creating suction. What are the causes of no suction at the vacuum and how do I take the top half of the Nutone central vac off?

I have the Miele cat & dog S5000 vacuum. I have had it about 1 year and lately the suction doesn’t seem as strong and the full bag indicater is always full. I have followed instructions in manual but nothing works?
ANSWER : Greetings,
.
.I would say that you have a slight clog in the hose or in the power nozzle somewhere. The full bag indicator is just a guage that will indicate full when it feels like it’s lost suction. Example: If you were to take the hose and cover it with your hand, you’ll notice that bag full indicator will show full.
.
.To check and see where the clog in the vacuum is, remove the wands and floor attachment so you just have the hose on the vacuum cleaner. With just the hose attached, turn the vacuum cleaner on. Does it still show a full bag? If yes, then remove the hose completely from the vacuum cleaner so it’s just the canister part by itself and turn on the vacuum again. If the bag full indicator is now showing an empty bag, this means that you have a clog in your hose.
.
.If the bag full indicator displayed an empty bag when you had the hose on the vacuum, but shows a full bag when you have the wands and floor tool attached, this means that you have a clog in the vacuum either in the wands, or the floor attachment.
.
.For removing clogs from the hose, the quickest way is to just purchase a plumbers snake at your local hardware store, and run the snake through the hose until you find the clog. You may also take a high pressure hose and spray it down the hose until the clog is cleared, but if you use a water hose, MAKE SURE the hose is 100% dry before you use it again.
.
.Also that bag full indicator can be adjusted if you are getting a lot of suction power and it still shows full.
.
.I hope that these suggestions helped you diagnosis your Miele canister to figure out why the indicator showed full. If this helped you please rate my repair helpful.

Hoover tempo upright is clogged. I can only vac for a few minutes, then I have to unplug it and turn it over and clean out the under part under the roller. It is totally stuffed with dirt and dust and carpet fibers. I have a new bag in. It is like it is clogged up inbetween the bag and the roller. Also gets clogged when using the hose. It is maybe a year old. How can I take it apart and unclog it?
ANSWER : Disconnect the hose and head and wands. Drop a quarter thru the hose, the handle sometimes clogs. peer thru the wands and inspect the elbow on the head for blockage as well
