How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?
Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :
A possible cause might be that the tank is not properly seated. To assure the tank is seated properly, pick it up and re-seat is so it sits snugly on the unit. If this doesn`t fix the problem, make sure the tank is assembled properly. To make sure they are both latched properly, pick the tank up by its handle.
Check to see if the collection water tank outside the bladder is full. The float will activate to cut off suction. Empty the collection tank and test for suction. If there is still no suction at this time, please visit a BISSELL Authorized Service Center.
Check to make sure the Vacuum Suction Knob is turned towards “Floor Suction.” Or there could be large debris clogging the brush roll rotation. Your dirt container may not be seated properly or may be full. Press the Tank Release button and remove.
Inspect the vacuum hose for any small holes, kinks, or cracks. Any cracks or holes will decrease the amount of suction in the hose and will not allow the carpet extractor to properly remove liquid from the floor. The hose will need to be replaced if there is damage.
Locate the brush reset button on the lower back right of the vacuum. Press the button to reset the brushroll To ensure the brush has been reset, plug the vacuum back into the electrical outlet.
Hot water loosens and softens dirt more quickly, making it easier to remove, and it also helps to kill bacteria. That`s why we recommend filling up your carpet cleaner`s tank with warm water. Some BISSELL Carpet Cleaners also use HeatWave technology to keep the water hot throughout the cleaning process.
So, you`ve decided to buy a Bissell Power Steam Pro Carpet Cleaner and are wondering what other cleaning solutions you can use in it. Well, you can use Baking soda, Vinegar, Castile soap, or even Warm Water. However, you must keep in mind that you should leave the carpets to dry after you use them.
It`s not unusual for DIY carpet cleaners to need eight or even 10 passes on a carpet before the water runs clear. This is especially true when: It has been a long time since your carpet was last deep-cleaned.
Just empty the water out of the tank after each use. Doing so will prevent leaking and extend the life of your filter.
Lift the tank straight up. Unscrew the cap. Decide if you`re cleaning hard floors or carpet, and fill with hot tap water to the appropriate water fill line. Then fill with the proper BISSELL formula to the appropriate formula fill line.

Bissell Quicksteamer I have a Bissell Quicksteamer that is about 5 years old. I went to use it today and hardly any solution was coming out. I could see it suctioning up what little came out, so I took it apart and cleaned it thoroughly. I tried to use again and no solution is coming out. Everything seems to being working just fine. Thanks
ANSWER : Here’s a kinda kick yourself quick fix that might be helpful, I took my whole machine apart all the way to the motor to come to realize that the small rubber piece that cover the tip of the water container was jammed in the hole you slip the water tank in. Blocking the tip of the water tank from releasing water, so make sure your rubber tip on the water tank is securely in place displacement can block water release. ( If you don’t see a rubber piece at the tip of your
removable water tank its mostly stuck in the area below the tanks resting area.) Good luck!!!
I replaced the belt in our Eureka Boss Smart Vac, it still seems loose, it uses a type R belt. The beater belt still doesn’t seem to turn properly and seems that it doesn’t pick up very well when I use it on my berber carpet. We have 2 dogs and I like to use it frequently. I have changed the bags and belt……
ANSWER : Check to see that the beater brush is not frozen up. Pull the brush and clean it, spraying some WD40 on each end piece that holds the brush in place..Also be sure the belt is properly installed so that the brush turns in the correct direction..If the brush is not turning or not turning in the correct direction, it will not beat the dirt from the carpet so that it can be picked up by the vacuum’s suction.

Bissell 9200 proheat carpet cleaner doesn t spray
ANSWER : EITHER THE SWITCH IS DEFECTIVE OR THE PUMP IS DEFECTIVE, MOST LIKELY IT IS THE PUMP, CONSULT A LOCAL VACUUM REPAIR SHOP FOR
DETAIL’S ON REPAIR.
My bissell pro heat 2X has stopped dispensing water from the tank, the suction is working and it seems to be dispensing the detergent, so it is not rinsing or washing with water. I have cheaked to see if there is a blockage but that doesn’t seem to be the problem…please help
ANSWER : I have a Proheat 2X and had the same problem. I tried the Water Rinse setting and found water came out and was suctioned properly, but on the Light Clean, Normal Clean, and Heavy Traffic settings, the unit failed to do anything. Problem may be with leaving the soap dispenser in-place, which might scum up the tubing.
SO, an alternative to throwing out my unit and buying something else was to put one capful of the Bissell soap in the water resevoir and keep the unit on Water Rinse. IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY NOW. Don’t know if this will help, but at least I didn’t have to buy a new unit. Rinse everything after using and there’s been no problem.
My Bissell 9200 is not sucking the water into the dirty water resevoir. 1. The gasket on the clear-view seems fine. 2. The suction power just doesn’t seem powerful enough (feeling with my hand). 3. The brushes turn fine and belt is fine (not sure if that even matters for this issue). Any help appreciated. Thanks, – Matt
ANSWER : Disassemble all lines and check to see if all O rings are installed. If cracked missing or stretched out of shape no suction will be provided
