Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

Unplug, and check the end of the hose, tool, and inside the dirt water tank stack and remove any clogs. Let the unit sit unplugged for 30 minutes after removing any clogs for the thermal protector to cool and reset automatically. Then test in a working outlet.
First, check to make sure the clean tank has water and/or the water & formula mixture in the tank. If your tank is empty, this could be the reason your machine is not spraying. You will need to fill your clean tank again. Reseat the tank and ensure it sits snug on the machine.
Locate the brush reset button on the lower back right of the vacuum. Press the button to reset the brushroll To ensure the brush has been reset, plug the vacuum back into the electrical outlet.
The best way to use the Little Green is to simply fill the water reservoir with either plain room temperature water, or with a combination of water and your favorite carpet cleaning solution.
Make sure the Clean Water Tank is seated correctly on the machine. If it isn`t, turn off and unplug your machine, remove and reseat the tank until it clicks into place. This is also a good time to check for cracks or leaks in the tank. If it`s damaged, a replacement can be ordered on BISSELL.com.
the internal hose may be kinked which will block the spray. try stretching out the hose. and giving it a few light tugs to release any kinks afterwards test to see if the machine sprays. if you still cannot get your deep clean essential to spray please visit Bissell comm to find the nearest Bissell authorized.
Clog located in the vacuum hose

Turn the unit on and feel the suction at the end of the hose handle. If there is no or low suction, then the clog is in the hose. You can remove the clog by running a long, stiff object through the hose, such as a butter knife, starting at the wall end.

Select cleaning mode:

To recline your machine for use, press the Recline Pedal with your foot. Max Clean Mode is intended for your dirtiest carpeted areas.

You don`t have to use the Bissell solution, but it is optimized for use in their machines. This means it won`t streak, leave residue, need to be rinsed, or leave buildup in your machine.
Locate the brush reset button on the lower back right of the vacuum. Press the button to reset the brushroll To ensure the brush has been reset, plug the vacuum back into the electrical outlet.

My Bissell Little Green won’t spray the solution. The suction seems to be working fine and the lines are all connected as they should be. What’s up and how can I fix it?
ANSWER : I also had the same problem as you.
.Try suctioning up a full tank of hot tap water into the collection tank to soften/release a possible kink in the tubing inside of the vacuum hose that carries solution out to the spray tip.
I did this a couple of times and it worked. This info I found on the Bissell website.
.Good Luck!

Bissell Quicksteamer I have a Bissell Quicksteamer that is about 5 years old. I went to use it today and hardly any solution was coming out. I could see it suctioning up what little came out, so I took it apart and cleaned it thoroughly. I tried to use again and no solution is coming out. Everything seems to being working just fine. Thanks
ANSWER : Here’s a kinda kick yourself quick fix that might be helpful, I took my whole machine apart all the way to the motor to come to realize that the small rubber piece that cover the tip of the water container was jammed in the hole you slip the water tank in. Blocking the tip of the water tank from releasing water, so make sure your rubber tip on the water tank is securely in place displacement can block water release. ( If you don’t see a rubber piece at the tip of your removable water tank its mostly stuck in the area below the tanks resting area.) Good luck!!!

The tool attachment for the hose on my Bissell ProHeat 2X CleanShot won’t spray soap or water. The bristles on the tool rotate without a problem and the suction is working fine, it just won’t spray water when I pull the little gray trigger on the tool.

My little green machine won’t spray the solution but it will pick
ANSWER : We had the same problem. After dissassembling the whole machine we could not find a clog or any other obvious problem. The manual suggests priming the pump by putting the solution reservoir in and out a few times. This did not help much. What did work was to raise the unit up a few feet above the trigger while depressing the holding the spray trigger. (That is, use gravity to fill the tube.) After solution was flowing freely, we turned the machine on and it seems to spray fine again..
.Hope this helps

Bissell 7700 series, pro heat all rounder. Won't spray water. Have checked the line from the unit to the spray nozzel and all seems clear. Water doesn't seem to be flowing from the tank to the end of the unit where the hose connects into. What could be the problem? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank You. Steve
ANSWER : Hello

Grasp the cleaning solution tank, and remove it from the machine. Reinsert the tank into the machine, making sure it fits snugly in the machine. If the tank is even slightly dislodged, water cannot get into the machine. Visually inspect the siphon tube located on the tank to make sure it is not being pressed between the wall of the carpet cleaner and the tank.

Tilt the handle of the carpet cleaner downward until it rests on the floor. Examine the bottom of the machine. Remove any visible carpet fibers or hair clogs that are stuck in the water nozzles.

Push the nozzle cover downward toward the machine wheels to remove it. Then, pull up on the spray tip itself to remove it from the machine.

Soak the spray tip in a sink full of warm water for five to 10 minutes to clean any clogs from the nozzle holes. Dry off the nozzle tip with a towel. Reattach it and the nozzle cover back onto the vacuum.

Fill the water tank with water until it reaches the fill line. Fill the dirty water tank with clean water until it reaches the maximum water line. Plug the machine in, and turn it on. Press in on the trigger, located in the handle, for 60 seconds to try to force water through the system.

My Bissell ProHeat Pro-Clean upright cleaner won’t spray either water or solution onto the floor, however it does spray when using the attachments on the hose. The belt is fine, I’ve actually tried all of the troubleshooting steps indicated in the User Manual. I’m not even certain where it is supposed to be spraying out from! Any ideas where/what to check for?

I have a panasonic mc-ul975 vacuum that works great when working properly. the airflow through the canister seems to stops once the aero blast technology is done running which causes the vacuum to not function as it should (does not have as much suction and the hose/tool accessories do not work at all). if air is continually running through the canister everything seems fine. please help!
ANSWER : Hi there. In Panasonic vacuums2.gif, there is a thermostat protection on the motor. It will automatically shut off the motor if there is no airflow through the motor. This is typically caused by a clogged hose. Typically, if your dust container is that full, there could be backup in the hose. Or the dust container being too full could also or otherwise be the problem. Check your hose for blockage, let the machine cool off, it should start up again
