Unplug your machine to reset the brush. While unplugged, remove the brush window and brush roll from your machine, by pulling the tab. Take out the obstruction that was causing the machine to stop working. Once the obstruction is removed, you may reassemble the brush roll and brush window.
Your Brush Roll has an ON/OFF Button right under the Power Button, giving you control of the Brush Roll. The Brush Roll will automatically turn on when your Adapt Ion is turned on in the stick vacuum mode. However, the Brush Roll will automatically shut off if there`s too much debris on it.
Locate the brush reset button on the lower back right of the vacuum. Press the button to reset the brushroll To ensure the brush has been reset, plug the vacuum back into the electrical outlet.
If your brush is not turning it could be due to a broken Belt or a seized Brush Roll, follow these steps to resolve: Turn off and unplug machine. Use a Phllips-head screwdriver to remove 3 screws, 2 in the belt cover and 1 on the brush roll mount. Remove belt cover.
1. Press the red power button with your foot to turn the vacuum ON and OFF. 2. Press the recline pedal and pull handle back towards you.
We recommend replacing your Brush Roll every 6 months for best cleaning results.
On/Off Brushroll: turn brushroll `on` for carpeted surfaces and `off` for hard floor cleaning. 10″ Nozzle: provides a path for quick clean-ups. Lightweight Design: easy transportation from room-to-room and up-and-down stairs.
Check that the vacuum cleaner is plugged into a working power outlet and that fuses and breakers don`t need resetting. An activated thermal cut-out due to a blockage is the next most likely cause of the problem. Check for blockages in the hose and filters, and remove any obstructions that you find.
Next to the motor, the belt on your vacuum is just about the most important part of your vacuum. Without the belt to spin the brushroll, most vacuums won`t pick up on carpeting at all! If your vacuum uses a rubber belt, check it once a month for cracks, melting, and especially, slippage.
You should replace the belts on your vacuum at least every three to six months if the vacuum is regularly used. This is very important for proper cleaning.
The TurboBrush® Tool has a rotating brush that easily connects to most vacuum hoses and is recommended for cleaning stairs, upholstery, rugs and other difficult to reach areas in your home while vacuuming. The TurboBrush® Tool stores on board most BISSELL vacuums for easy and convenient above floor cleaning.
To power on the machine, step on the red Power Switch Pedal located on the back of the vacuum by the bottom. If there is still no power, unplug your machine from the wall. Check the entire length of the power cord, and discontinue use if there is any damage.
Roller brush is not spinning

Check to make sure the vacuum is switched to the correct mode. The switch should be in the Power and Brushroll mode to make the roller spin. If it is in just the power mode the roller will not move. The brushroll indicator light should be green when working.

On average a brushroll should be replaced every year or two. If you`re not sure if the vacuum is working as good as it could or should be, replacing the brushroll can be an easy fix .
You can take a look at your brush roll and see how the bristles look. If they look worn out and the bristles look loose it`s time to change your brush roller. Monthly care of your brush roller will help to keep you vacuum working properly.
You may have stalled the brush motor. To reset, turn off and unplug, then plug back in and turn on. The brush roll may have lodged debris or other entanglements keeping the brush from rotating.
Clear the brush roll of any hair and debris and inspect by placing it on its end and spin. The brush should spin freely. If it doesn`t spin; it may be time to replace.
Your vacuum has a brush roller that is supposed to spin and help lift dirt from the carpet or floor.
If brush will not turn by hand, or belt is broken, replace the damaged part by ordering online at BISSELL.com. Clean off any debris on the brush. If the brush is still not turning, please take the unit to an Authorized Service Center to have a Quality Technician inspect the unit.
Replace Brush Roll and turn unit ON to reset the brush. If the Brush Roll stops spinning due to debris, the LED light will turn solid red. NOTE: Make sure the Brush Roll cover tab is locked back into place to prevent breaking or faulty Brush Roll.
Overall, Bissell is a popular vacuum brand for a reason – these vacuums are dependable and last up to two years without issue. However, some models are better than others when it comes to cleaning different surfaces.
The most common problem with a vacuum cleaner is also the easiest to remedy: clogs in the hose or attachments. Also the electrical cord, motor, switch, fan, brushes, and motor bearings can all need repair or replacement. The drive belt may need replacing; and the attachments, hoses, and filters may need unclogging.
If the filter becomes dirty, twist the filter counterclockwise and lift out to clean. The foam filter layers, along with the pleated circular filter, can both be washed with a mild detergent. Be sure to dry completely before replacing. The other small, washable pre-motor filter is located underneath the dirt container.
Locate the brush reset button on the lower back right of the vacuum. Press the button to reset the brushroll To ensure the brush has been reset, plug the vacuum back into the electrical outlet.

Roller brush won’t spin (bissel 6390/3910 series)
ANSWER : I just fixed mine. It took me all of 10 minutes. Pull the brush out. Stand the brush on end on the edge of your study work bench/table top. while holding the brush vertical( on end) take a small phillips screwdriver and tap using a hammer on the metal pin you see in the middle of the brush. Keep tamping and the whole assembly will come apart. What you will have then is a long metal shaft, 2 bearings(they are acutally skateboard wheel bearings same number same make). Clean the gobbed up hair with a razor blade and then reassemble by tapping back together. The bearing wont be worn out because they are way too tough for a vaccum. We used ride down hills on them! a ten minute fix wow and you wont have to drive to vacuum shop and spend $$ and time

My Dyson Animal has good suction and works fine for actually picking up dirt, but when I use the vacuum with the roller, I hear a grinding/rumbling noise. Its only when I use the vacuum with the brush rotating. It does not happen hen I shut the roller brush off. The belt is fine. I cannot figure out what is wrong as there are no clogs, debris, or foreign objects stuck in the brush or in the belt. The noise seems to be the only issue. The vacuum picks up fine. It just doesn’t sound right a
ANSWER : Trace the path of the suction into the tank and see if there is anything loose or ingested..Also, remove the brush and clean as best you can. Perhaps there is something caught in it. Lubricate where it makes sense with some WD40.
