How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

They may scratch and damage your vacuum cleaner, or become lodged in the filters. Excessive amounts of dust, like plaster or cement dust, or cooking flour. Whilst Dyson vacuum cleaners are designed to collect dust, large amounts of it will just clog your vacuum and filters.
It`s essential to remove all the dust and dirt from your floors before moppng to achieve a barefoot and genuinely clean floor. Dyson vacuums are engineered to provide up to 230AW of powerful suction to remove all the dust in your homes.
A WARNING TO ALL DYSON USERS: Do not under any circumstances vacuum up any fine white powders/particles with your Dyson vacuum. It will kill the motor and it is NOT covered under the warranty. This includes things like white powder carpet cleaners (carpet fresh, etc), baby powder, baking soda, cornstarch, etc.
The most effective and easiest way to reduce (but not entirely remove) plaster dust would be a vacuum sander. This consists of a hose attached to your wet-dry shop vacuum.
If the machine will no longer efficiently pick items up, the filter might be dirty. If after cleaning the filter your vacuum is still not sucking things up, turn your vacuum around and pull the red tab at the bottom of your Dyson out.
Suction power: Air watts are key to picking up as much of the visible and invisible dust from surfaces. Dyson vacuums are powered with a Hyperdymium™ motor, increasing that suction power efficiently.
Because there are not blades or anything throughout the airflow that will an insect it is very possible for it to be alive inside in the canister.
If you`ve recently remodeled, don`t vacuum up sanding residue or other tiny particles — you`ll need to use a more durable machine (like a shop vac) instead. “Fine dust will clog the filters or bag right away,” says Forte, and then the machine might begin spewing dust back into the air.

While you might feel that this is the reason their products are expensive, you`re highly mistaken. This investment was mainly to accommodate a centre for their 1,200 employees, 22 laboratories, prototyping space, and areas for collaborative work.
Soil and Plant Debris
Soil and plant debris can clog a vacuum, and damp or wet leaves can lead to mold in the bag or canister, so it`s best to use a broom or your hands to pick those up.
Construction particles such as sawdust, drywall dust, and masonry dust should also never be vacuumed. Sweeping these particles is the best idea. Even dust from makeup can be problematic, as this can collect, solidify, and cause damage to your vacuum cleaner.
Will drywall dust ruin my vacuum? It might! It depends on your make and model. But most domestic vacuums will require deep cleaning after being used to pick up drywall dust.
Put in simple terms Plaster dust will absorb moisture from the air, become damp (eventually dissolving in the liquid) and damage the electronics in the equipmet.
Using air purifiers and scrubbers for construction dust
Air-cleaning machines such as air purifiers, air scrubbers and blowers are designed to draw in construction dust from the air surrounding these devices and remove them from the area, leaving only fresh, clean air in the area.
The DC14 was released in 2004. It is a revision of the DC07 upright vacuum cleaner with lower centre of gravity and `telescope reach`. It uses Dyson`s Root 8 Cyclone technology, which maintains constant suction.
Depending on your Dyson model, you may be surprised by the amount of dust and debris you`ll find inside it. So, `detach the hose from the wand, then clean its insides using a cloth pushed inside with the help of a broomstick or anything similar.
If you find that your machine is turning off intermittently, the filter in your vacuum is most likely full and covering the ventilation system. Remove the filter, then empty and wash it. Allow the filter to dry for at least 24 hours, or until it is completely dry.
The most common cause of loss of suction is that the filters have become blocked. They may require cleaning or replacing. Another cause could be that the vacuum cleaner hose is blocked.
The two plastic “wheels” on the pivot joint on the floor attachment scratched my dark hardwood floors. Had to slightly lift it to prevent it from happening. To avoid any possicle scratches, you can buy soft roller head, which is sold separately at Dyson. They have 2 soft roller head options for sale.
Firstly take it outside, as far away from the door and path as you can, or near or into the wheelie bin. Empty the contents into a plastic bag. Dispose in the outside bin. Use a soft brush of any kind and clean the cylinder casing inside and out.

If you`re looking for a vacuum cleaner that will last for many years then a Dyson may be worth considering. However, there are a few things to bear in mind before you buy one. Firstly, although Dyson vacuum cleaners are designed to last, they aren`t indestructible.
In short, our vacuums are built to last. But what does “built to last” mean? We put our machines through at least five years of testing in harsh conditions to ensure we`re engineering the most robust machines.
While we do not condone killing of insects, there is no guarantee that vacuuming up a spider will kill it. Further, because the ends are open to allow debris to come into your machine, a spider could certainly crawl back out if left in the clear bin.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It sounds to me that the unit you have may have to be vented outside as I am not familiar with this particular unit, or it could very well be that it is missing a filter or the filter you have inside already is shot and is in need of replacement or on some central vacs there are paper filter that go over the cloth type filter. Again, I am not familiar with this older unit but feel free to contact the Electrolux Factory or Manufacturer and give them the model # and the serial # for the unit and they will have a breakdown of if it should be vented and what type of filtration it should be using. I have a hoover 3000 i have not used in awhile, and since I removed a large rug, I would like to use it again on my slate floor. ANSWER : Have you made sure the plastic filter cover with the round hole in it that covers the filter is in place ( part # 59177096 ). This piece seems to get lost, and without it there is no pick-up. The other common problem is that the wheel assembly has been damaged. Look at the bottom of the Floormate. You will see a black plastic wheel assembly. There are two pegs at the rear attaching it to the base. If this piece has a crack in it where it attaches to the base, there will be no pick-up.

My dyson seems to have lost its suction therefore is not picking up anything yet i have found that when my dyson is standing upright it has a little more suction but nothing like how it use to work. I had used Dyson DC08 to **** out a wet car carpet. A few days later when using the V/C, there was a burning smell. Subsequently I washed the flexible hose, changed the pre-filter and post filter , but I wrongly put the pre-filter in the spot for the post filter. When the V/C was next used, there was again a burning smell and sparks. The filters were switched, but the V/C would not re-start.

Brushes only work when Dust Bin is removed!!

If the brushes work , without the bin, the problem , the problem could be caused , due the failure at the bin lock mechanism. There is a sensor that checks if the BIN is connected properly or not. This problem is best resolved by getting the same replaced .

It’s been awhile since I have used my shampoo system on my Ultimate G series Kirby. Well, as instructed I took it apart and cleaned it. Now I can?t figure out where to put the ?screen cap? and ?sponge filter?. I have my manual in front of me and the only place it shows the filter and sponge (page 35 in the manual) is when it?s been taken apart to clean. It doesn?t show where to put it back. We have a dyson dc 07 animal the machine was working fine then switched off after returning to the machine minutes later it wouldnt switch on, i removed on off switch cover and used a short piece of wire across the brown wires flicked the wall switch and it worked, aha i thought faulty switch aquired a new one to no avail and now even the short piece of wire trick doesnt work, has the motor died do you think, it wasnt over heating or making strange noises prior to refusing to work
ANSWER : It could be the motor. I’m having to replace the brushes on my DC 05. It appears that you can only get brushes for the YDK motors in the DYSON, not the Panasonic motor. Which might be saying something about the YDK motors. What happens is that the carbon brushes wear down which is normal. However, the contact wire from the brush to its connector is set so that when the brush wears down, the wire is short enough to stop the spring etc from damaging the commutator. The end result is that you get an intermittent operation of the motor before it finally dies.
.I believe all the DYSONs come with the option of both motors and you cannot really tell which motor you have until you take the thing to bits. You also cannot change motors without changing various other parts on the hoover. On my DC 05 the writing on the YDK motor tells you which one it is.
