Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum\015 It was working fine and I shut it off to move furniture, when I went to turn it back on it wouldn’t. I cleaned the filter and the canister and it still would not turn on. If I tilt it like you would to vacuum and then turn it on it works but then I can’t use the attchments. It also sounds more quiet than normal.\015

How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Check the Circuit

Check the vacuum cleaner to see if it tripped a circuit breaker or blew a fuse. Check the circuit breakers, or fuses and, if it has tripped a circuit breaker or blown a fuse, simply re-set the breaker, or replace the fuse, and switch the vacuum on again.

3 cleaning modes Power button Press the power button to start cleaning. Lean to clean Lean handle back to start a clean. Leave upright to direct suction to the wand.
If your dyson vacuum isn`t turning on, don`t panic – there are a couple possible causes. It could simply be that the vacuum overheated and shut itself off. If that is the case, wait 24 hours and turn it back on. However, another problem with dysons are failed power switches.
A Dyson handheld that keeps cutting out is known as pulsing. A Dyson V7 pulsing problem can be very frustrating! A few reasons why your Dyson is pulsing are potential blockages or problems with the bin or filter.
One of the first things to do when your Dyson vacuum cleaner keeps starting and stopping is to empty the bin. It may be full, or the machine may simply perceive it as too full to continue working. Dyson vacuum cleaners require constant airflow through them to work, and a full bin can stop this from happening.
Over time, all batteries are subject to degradation. So if your run time has declined when the machine is not in Max / Boost mode, it might be time to buy a new battery. All our machines come with a 2-year initial warranty that includes the battery.
Yes you do still have to hold the trigger down. I am sure this is an energy management thing to make the battery last longer by not running constantly.
You do have to hold the button in while using this, but the way the Dyson is engineered it isn`t a big deal at all.
If your Dyson vacuum no longer powers on even after it has been charged, the vacuum`s battery may be damaged. If the battery is damaged, it will no longer hold a charge and will need to be replaced. Use the Dyson DC58 Battery Replacement page for instructions on how to replace the vacuum`s battery.
To reset the Brush bar press the Brush bar control button twice or switch the machine off and back on.
As for battery life, the V7 runs for up to 30 minutes on powerful mode. The V6 lasts for 20 minutes and the V8 runs for up to 40 minutes. Crank the cordless vacuum cleaners to “Max” mode and the V7 will last you a mere 6mins, the same as the V6 and a little behind the V8, which lasts a minute longer at seven minutes.
If your vacuum cleaner keeps turning off, this could be due to the following reasons: Blockages – check the hose and head for any obstructions. Filter – always check your filters, if these are clogged this could be causing the vacuum cleaner to work harder and lose suction power.
If your Dyson Ball Animal vacuum no longer sucks up dirt, dust, and debris when using the nozzle and its attachments, there may be a clog in the vacuum`s nozzle. Unplug the vacuum and use the Dyson Ball Animal Hose Replacement Guide to remove the vacuum`s hose and check for clogs at the base of the hose.
Sometimes your vacuum pulsates on and off or keeps dying when using the extra powerful `Max Mode`, which can be related to the charge of your battery. Try turning this function off by pressing the Max button on your vacuum.

My Dyson DC07 will not turn on. I was just using it and moved to a new area and plugged it in and it turned on for a split second and then it turned off and now it won’t turn on at all. Any suggestions?
ANSWER : Loose wire, bad switch, or thermal cut-out. In any event, you will have to use a voltmeter to troubleshoot the problem, there is no way of knowing the problem otherwise

I have a dyson canniter stow away vacuum. i’ve had it for 2 years and it just started having a problem. when i turn it on the motor starts just fine but the vacuum head does not turn on. Yet when i push it forward it trys to start and turns on for a second and turn off – almost like the connector isn’t connecting the hose to the head very well anymore.
ANSWER : Hi, After reading you’re problem, the symptom’s are just like you said. Its just a matter of checking the connections. The connection where it plugs into the head it self. When you push forward the forward motion and down pressure makes the connection for a few seconds. Anywhere you have a power connection double check it to see if it is loose. I wouldn’t think it is a serious problem, just a matter of looking it over very good. You should have no problem in finding the solution. When you first turn it on is when the head should also turn on, so, that’s where I would check first where the hose connects to the motor. Move the hose and head around to see if it trys to start and see if you can locate the problem. Keep me posted on what you have found and we can go from there.

I turn my dyson on and it runs for 5 min then turns off
ANSWER : The symptoms you describe are typical of overheating. That indicates that there’s a blockage somewhere. Follow the instructions in your user manual for removing blockages (or you can download a copy from Dyson website if you need to), and make sure the filters are clean too. That should solve the problem.

My dyson turns on but when i push it to vacuum it makes this awful sound like something got sucked up and caught. i turn it off and turn it over and nothing is stuck. My husband even looked at it and he thinks it’s the belt. The belt doesn’t turn as loose. Please help.
ANSWER : If yours is one of the DC07 models that has a clutch (there’s a knob you can turn, close to the front on the right side – right as you look from behind, that is). Sometimes this problem is cured by simply turning that knob from one extreme to the other a few times. If that doesn’t help, the clutch may need replacing..
.It may also be that the bearings at the ends of the brush bar are worn or dry. That can make a terrible noise (although most people call it squealing). Remove the brush bar, pull the bearings off both ends (one at a time, so you know which is which) and clear any entangled hair from the spindle. When you’re sure it’s clean, use just the smallest drop of oil or grease and reassemble. If the bearings are badly worn, that solution won’t last long (if at all) and you’ll have to get a new brush bar..
.I hope this helps. Any further questions, just post a reply here and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

The brushes on the Hoover All Terrain Steamvac won’t turn. However, when I try to turn them manually they will turn. So, why won’t they turn when the machine is turned on?
ANSWER : Some vaccums have a belt on the brushes. might need a new one if it does have the belt

My dyson turns on only when in the tilted
ANSWER : It sounds like the wires attached 2 the moter are lose need hex drive 2 take a part moters verry fidley stripped quiet a few moters were gone

The brush bar on my Dyson DC17 stopped turning.
ANSWER : If this model has a brush control – i.e a roller at the side of the model which controls brush to spin or not, then its a protected brush model – therefore even if the drive belt is intact the Dyson would have to be repaired by a service personnel or professional. The brush protection isn’t able to be taken apart and sounds like it may well have slipped off due to tension.

The bar isn’t turning on my Dyson Ball vacuum. It is brand new, never has been used, turn it on and the bar doesn’t turn around.
ANSWER : Greetings from GoVacuum,
.
.The Dyson DC15 Ball is a two motor upright vacuum. Most other uprights use just a single motor that controls the suction on one end, and the roller brush on the other end.
.
.The Dyson however is different. The DC15 has two motors, one dedicated to suction, the other dedicated to running the roller brush. You should first check to make sure that you in fact have turned on the lower motor for the carpet setting. There are two switches right next to each other, one is for the suction, the other for the roller brush, make sure both switches are turned to the on position.
.
.If both are in the on posistion, and the brushes still don’t come on, the machine also has a reset switch for the lower motor. This is here to help protect the belt from burning if something gets stuck in the vacuum while it’s on. There is a little red reset button on the top of the roller brush housing (I believe on this model it’s on the left side of the brush if you were vacuuming), try pressing this red reset switch.
.
.If neither one of these suggestions fixes your machine, I would personally return the vacuum to where you bought it. There’s no reason that it should not work right out of the box, and this may mean that the machine was damaged in shipping.
.
.If you’d like some further help, please let me know by entering a clarification request to these suggestions, and I’d be more then happy to try and diagnosis this further with you.
.
.Was this helpful to you? If so, please be sure to rate the repair tip as helpful, this will help me out a lot. I really appreciate it.
