How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Faulty Suction

If the machine will no longer efficiently pick items up, the filter might be dirty. If after cleaning the filter your vacuum is still not sucking things up, turn your vacuum around and pull the red tab at the bottom of your Dyson out.

The DC14 was released in 2004. It is a revision of the DC07 upright vacuum cleaner with lower centre of gravity and `telescope reach`. It uses Dyson`s Root 8 Cyclone technology, which maintains constant suction.
Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Absolute vacuum

No loss of suction. No bags to buy. Ball™ technology for easy steering.

If your dyson vacuum isn`t turning on, don`t panic – there are a couple possible causes. It could simply be that the vacuum overheated and shut itself off. If that is the case, wait 24 hours and turn it back on. However, another problem with dysons are failed power switches.
A Dyson vacuum cleaner has a lifespan of around 10 years. This is considerably longer than most other vacuums. So, if you`re looking for a high-quality vacuum cleaner that will last you for a long time, a Dyson could be a good choice. However, remember that Dyson vacuums are expensive.
The Dyson DC14 is a moderately-priced upright vacuum with premium suction. It boasts a telescope wand extender for detailed cleaning, a bagless and hygienic one-touch disposal, and root cyclone technology that certifies it allergy friendly. However, it`s worth noting there`s some concern about the vacuum`s portability.
If your Dyson Ball Animal vacuum no longer sucks up dirt, dust, and debris when using the nozzle and its attachments, there may be a clog in the vacuum`s nozzle. Unplug the vacuum and use the Dyson Ball Animal Hose Replacement Guide to remove the vacuum`s hose and check for clogs at the base of the hose.
Which Dyson vacuum is the most powerful? In terms of sheer suction power, the Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra is the most powerful option in Dyson`s current lineup, offering 290 AW, or air watts, of suction power. Among the brand`s cordless stick vacuums, the Dyson V15 Detect is the most powerful, with a rating of 230 AW.
With such good suction power, the Dyson Big Ball will make an excellent canister vacuum for pet hair, area rugs, or really whatever you put it towards. If you`re looking for a general floor cleaner that works on hardwood and carpet, this Dyson is our top pick for a reason.
To reset the Brush bar press the Brush bar control button twice or switch the machine off and back on.
Most problems arise because of a blockage – if not a dirty filter or cyclone unit, then something could be caught in the wand or the brush bar. Once again, the lack of suction could be caused by a dirty filter or a blockage somewhere in the vacuum`s system.
Check the LED light to determine the battery level. A solid blue light indicates that the machine is in normal operating mode. A flashing blue light indicates that there is no power, and the battery needs to be charged for a minimum of 3.5 hours.
Loose connections will cause your vacuum cleaner to lose suction. Make sure that the dust container, the hose, the tube and the brush are all attached properly. If the problem continues, your vacuum cleaner might have a technical problem. If you suspect this to be the case, contact an authorised service agent.
One of the easiest ways to increase vacuum cleaner suction is to empty the dust bag or container. Dust containers need to have enough space for airflow, otherwise, they could get clogged and have less suction power. Regularly check your dust compartment and empty or change it when it`s already 70-80% full.
The main difference between the Dyson V8 Animal and V8 Absolute is that the V8 Animal is designed to powerfully suck up and eliminate pet hairs. The V8 Absolute, however, includes the Soft Roller Cleaner Head that the V8 Animal does not have.
Dyson was designed and patented by a British, had it made in Malaysia (Johor Bahru), – as it is cheaper to make here.
Dyson invested £2.5 billion in research and development.

While you might feel that this is the reason their products are expensive, you`re highly mistaken. This investment was mainly to accommodate a centre for their 1,200 employees, 22 laboratories, prototyping space, and areas for collaborative work.

You`ll find it on your machine, on a label that looks like this. Example: 123-CA-A12345 or AB1-CA-A123456. First two fields are required. Example: 123-CA-A12345 or AB1-CA-A123456.
Cylinder vacuums are typically more powerful and have a larger dust capacity, so need emptying less frequently. They also have a larger cleaning radius — the length of the cord — than upright vacuums. That`s why you`ll find the professionals use this type of vacuum cleaner in offices and hotels.
The two main indicators to determine vacuum power performance are water lift and airflow. The water lift is measured in mmH2O, mbar or kPa. It represents the suction force and is the reference parameter for vacuuming liquids and heavy materials. The airflow is measured in m3/h or in l/s.
Next, you need to consider suction power. Typically expressed in Pa (pascals), this is a measurement of how powerful the motor is inside a robot vacuum. A good number to look for here is around 2,000Pa or above for an effective clean.
The Dyson V6 is designed so that you can store the unit on the charger. Storing the Dyson on the charger will not harm the battery and it is not necessary to use the unit until the battery is depleted.
Over time, all batteries are subject to degradation. So if your run time has declined when the machine is not in Max / Boost mode, it might be time to buy a new battery. All our machines come with a 2-year initial warranty that includes the battery.
If the motor on your Dyson vacuum is faulty, it will need replacing. The video and step by step guide below will take you through your Dyson motor replacement.

I purchased a brand new Eureka Pet vacuum, sorry don’t know exact name but it the one that has the self cleaning duster on it. Last night I used the vacuum on my carpet, it was working fine until I accidently sucked up the corner of a scarf that was hanging off a couch. I shut the vacuum off, pulled out the scarf and and resumed vacuuming. Much to my dismay the suction on the vacuum had ceased. Can you tell me if there is a reset button on the vacuum? The vacuum does not appear to be damage
ANSWER : If the motor is running, there should be suction. Possible problems depend on whether it’s a canister or upright and are:
.A clog in the hose, UR or canister. Detach hose. Drop small coin in one end and lift hose causing it to roll out the other. If it does, no clog in hose. Drop same coin into hose opening on power head. If it rolls out, no clog in PN.
.Broken fan blades, UR. Needs to be taken to shop for repair/replacement.
.
.A reset button is for use if the motor isn’t running, so won’t have anything to do with the suction.

My dyson vacuum appears to still have suction but it doesnt
ANSWER : That means that the belt is stretched or worn. This causes the roller brush to not be able to turn the way its supposed to against the resistance of the carpet and therefore won’t pick up well. You need to replace the belt. Here are the belts you need:

Dirt devil vacuum cleaner–trouble vacuuming dirt and pet hair on carpeting –is the problem with the spinning brush which contacts the floor,  not contacting the carpeting??  I thought (when I bought this vacuum) that the aforementioned brush was adjustable to various heights of carpeting.  Sometimes, it seems like nothing is being vacuumed up –unless I have just put a new bag on the vacuum… Do I need or can I replace the spinning brush on the bottom of the vacuum so it kicks up and vacuums
ANSWER : Try replacing the belt. Rubber belts stretch out after about a year.

Poor Suction Heya! So I just picked up a used Dyson, but when I vacuum with it, the suction is pretty weak and it spits all kinds of stuff out the back and into my feet. When I pull the hose I have good suction, but in regular mode it hardly picks up anything. The brushes are spinning, and it eventually will clean an area if I go over it again and again. Maybe a clog somewhere? Please tell me that Dysons have better suction than my $50 Dirt Devil! Thanks!
ANSWER : I recently bought a second hand Dyson DC07. Its suction was poor. I removed all the un-clipable pipe bits and to remove any blockage but it all looked clear. The Final Sponge and hepper filter did have a lot of dust in it and the rotating brush was full of hair but nothing bad.
.
.I eventual gave in to curiosity and removed the three screws in the top or the yellow removable dust collection tube and cyclone bit to see what was in there. The mechanism to release the flap at the bottom of the collection tube does not allow you to remove the lid completely but it does open far enough to get inside. I found the whole top section of the yellow plastic bit blocked by a big plug of compacted dust and a champagne cork. If you are willing to take the risk and have a torx 15 screwdriver handy it that part may be blocked. It did get a bit messy.
.
.If I was going to attempt the same procedure I’d remove the dust collection unit from the vacuum cleaner as I did before, but leave the clear tube attached and the emptying flap firmly closed to reduce the mess from the dust falling out the bottom while cleaning the top part.

The vacuum i’ve had for 6 months has very liittle suction power. checked that the belt is on. cleaned filter. checked to see if hoses were clogged. I used a super vac to suction any debris out of vacuum. still little suction power
ANSWER : As this unit has 3 filters on it, a lot of people forget about the one filter that will cause all of your trouble here.
.
.There is the exhaust hepa filter, no problem, your unit is pretty new, it shouldn’t be a problem.
.There is the circular filter in the chamber where all your dust and debris collects. It is in the top portion and will come out with a twist. This filter is washable. Warm water and no soap.
.
.The third filter, and this is the one that is most commonly overlooked, is just below the dirt container you can take out and clean. It is in a grey “tray” that pulls out and the sponge filter is in the tray. As a word of warning, it is probably pretty dirty. Again just wash it, warm water no soap, and you should be good to go.
.
.PLEASE make sure that the filters are DRY before putting them back into your machine.
.
.Good luck.

I don’t have any suction when i use the vacuum, if i use the tools adaptor i still have suction. how do i get the suction back to the vacuum?
ANSWER : Plugged lower,, hair,, carpet etc.

My son dropped the vacuum down the stairs and now the vacuum works but the front part of the vacuum does not drop back down when vacuuming any type of floor. It slowly drops and does not stay on the carpet. hope this makes sense. I have cleaned filters and suction seems strong at the small hose. the beater bar rotate very fast still.
ANSWER : May be part missing. this is unit has 5-year warranty.you can send to service.

Suction Problem I was vacuuming and stopped to empty the cannister. When I started vacuuming again – the suction wasn’t working properly. The vacuum was just pushing stuff around the floor. I cleaned the hair out the brush on the bottom and it still isn’t working. It was working fine before I emptied the tube 🙁 I can’t figure out what happened.Help!
ANSWER : Greetings from GoVacuum,
.
.I believe what may have happened is that your vacuum cleaner belt has either broken, or been stretched so far that ithe brushes are no longer spinning fast enough.
.
.Here’s what you should do to diagnose this problem.
.
.1. Take the suction hose out of the back of the vacuum (assuming that your vacuum has on-board tools), and see if you have any suction coming from the hose. If you do, this indicates your belt is bad.
.
.2. If you don’t have suction coming from the hose, then it may be something as simple as replacing the filters, to a clog in the vacuum, or to your motor going bad.
.
.In my professional opinion though I would say from what you stated that the belt is mostly likely going to be your issue. If you can provide me the model number of your vacuum cleaner, I can walk you through step by step on ow to replace the belt.
.
.I have posted a short YouTube video on a vacuum belt change, this is not for all vacuums, but it will give you some idea of how to change a belt;
