Turn off the vacuum cleaner – then check if the nozzle, tube, hose or filters are blocked and/or dirty. Let the product cool down for a minimum of 2 hours on the charging stand before starting it again (stick vacuum cleaners only)
It might sound simple, but lack of power is often the cause of a vacuum cleaner that won`t work. Check that the vacuum cleaner is plugged into a working power outlet and that fuses and breakers don`t need resetting. An activated thermal cut-out due to a blockage is the next most likely cause of the problem.
– Some vacuums have an in-line thermal fuse (often located between the switch lead and the motor coil). If the fuse is blown it will need to be replaced. – Check your home circuit breaker – it may have tripped. – Some vacuums have a brushroll on/off control.
The most common problems found in vacuum cleaners are low suction force, excessive noise, burning smell, vacuum not turn on, and overheating. These issues can be fixed by either cleaning the device or replacing some parts of the device. At times, it is best to seek a professional to fix the cleaner effectively.
Another reason the vacuum is not turning on may be that the circuit breaker may have tripped. Check the breaker on the unit and if it continues to fail it usually means the motor is going bad. Another reason can be the bad signal from the unit to the wall inlet.
Alternatively called the reset switch, the reset button allows devices that utilize it, such as a computer or peripheral to be rebooted. Usually, the button is on the front of the device, next to or near the power button.

When I was using my Bissell ProHeat 7901, I smelled something hot (almost burnt) and turned off the vaccum. When I turned it back on, everything seemed to be working, but the vaccum part was not making the same sound. The Vaccum is not turning on when i plug the hose into the wall. The hoover system will turn on when i turn the switch on at the base and wont go off till i turn the switch off. But it will not come on automatically when i put the hose in to the wall connections.

ANSWER : You can test this out by taking a small metal spoon and with the bottom side of the spoon insert it into the vac outlet on the wall. you want to touch the two metal pins inside the vac outlet to test if the unit is the problem or the hose is the problem.

ANSWER : No sound at all? or the motor runs but no vaccuum?

The system was turned on manually to vaccum out the car and now the only way to turn it off is to unplug it (i.e. pressing the switch on the vaccum canister to auto from manual does not turn it off). Bad switch?
ANSWER : It is possible that it is a bad switch/circuit board on the unit. If your unit is less than 7 years old that should also be covered by warranty (manufacturer) however an in home service, should you require someone to come to the house will not be covered.

ANSWER : Take off the bottom cover where the roller brush is a few screws should be all it takes underneath cover should be roller and belt if belt is broke replace it lift up roller there is a slot for the belt to run in put other end should be the motor side put belt around pulley bar put it back the same way it came off.
