1-3 of 3 Answers. It is best to use the Hoover cleaning solution in the Hoover – FloorMate SpinScrub Hard Floor Cleaner. If you decide to use another brand, just be sure not to use a solvent based cleaning concentrates in your cleaner. Also, you cannot use any type of wax in the cleaner.
Possible Cause: Clogged Solution Tank Filter

A clogged filter will not allow any water to be released. The Fix: Remove and inspect the filter for a blockage. If the filter is dirty, remove any buildup and reconnect to the floor scrubber. Once free of debris, the machine should begin to distribute water again.

If the cleaner is still not spraying despite the water and detergent tanks being full, there may be a bubble of air stuck in the pump or the hose. To fix this, you need to turn the cleaner on and lower the hose down to the floor. Next, prime the pump by holding down the trigger for up to 1 minute.
I boil the water and pour it in carefully—boiling hot. Most home cleaners do not use the power of boiling water, but I do. I have done this for 14 years now, and without any problem.
The one aspect of cleaning and disinfecting that is the same is that both chemistries must be rinsed. Very seldom does any chemistry get rinsed off the flooring material, let alone disinfectants. So if it isn`t rinsed, that means it is still working.
So, I just wanted to add this warning for anyone that stumbles across it: DO NOT USE VINEGAR IN THE MACHINE.
Start on the far edge of your carpet or rug and push the vacuum forward in a straight line. This movement lifts the nap (or fibers) of the floor covering to reveal any dirt or debris hidden underneath. Then pull the machine back slowly toward you to collect all that debris.
A: Bleach will degrade the rubber seals and cause leakage over time. On its other floor-cleaning products, Hoover specifically has started saying not to use bleach as it is one of the chief causes of leaking reser… see more.
Check to make sure there is water in the fresh water tank. If it is empty, please remove it and fill it with cold or lukewarm water and then replace.
If you still have reduced or no spray it might mean the pump has lost its prime. To fix this, turn the power off and then back on. Wait for one minute, then depress the trigger.
Your Vax carpet cleaner may not be picking up water because the machine has picked up too much grime, and has become blocked up. Check around the head of the carpet cleaner for anything obvious that might make the suction on the Vax weaker, or look for clumps of hair that could be caught in the bristles.
Detergent Carpet Cleaner

For synthetic carpets: Mix ¼ teaspoon of a translucent liquid dishwashing detergent, such as Dawn or Joy, into one cup of lukewarm water. For natural fiber carpets: Mix one teaspoon of translucent liquid dishwashing detergent, such as Dawn or Joy, into 1 cup of lukewarm water.

The short answer is that you should not use vinegar for carpet cleaning. There is truth to the idea you can use vinegar as a natural disinfectant for cleaning but it cannot remove dirt or soil from a surface or from carpet.
Only Vacuum a Dry Carpet

If you vacuum a wet carpet, dirty water could enter the motor and cause damage to it. In severe cases where the carpet is too wet, you could even risk electrocution. Even in a mild scenario, you`d still end up with a soggy mess to deal with when you eventually empty the dust bag.

The Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe Carpet Cleaner does not heat the water itself. Please fill the clean water tank with hot tap water. The use of hot water as opposed to cold, significantly improves cleaning performance.
Not Rinsing: If you are using a traditional mop and bucket method, this increases the amount of liquid on the floor. To ensure there is not film build-up left behind the floors should be followed with a quick plain water rinse and a quick-drying to eliminate the chance of filmy residue left on the floors.
Forgetting to Rinse

Many cleaners spray a ton of floor soap, believing “wet equals clean.” Thinking that wet equals clean, they then forget to rinse out their mop pad, resulting in a mop pad that is fully saturated with dirty water. Continuing to use the mop pad on the floor leads to smearing dirt, not lifting it.

Vinegar is a natural disinfectant that works well as a mopping solution without leaving any chemical residue on your floors. Although some people don`t like the scent, this odor is evident only as you mop and clean—it will fade away rapidly as the solution dries. The results left behind are a gorgeous, clean floor.
Your bathroom`s or kitchen`s tiled floors will love a vinegar wash. Put half a cup of vinegar into one gallon of warm water, and away you go. Swish, swish, swish away all the germs, dirt, and grime.
Simple: the bag or canister is full and the vacuum has nowhere to store the dust it is collecting. Empty the canister or bag. If that doesn`t fix it, the vacuum filter needs to be cleaned or changed.
Dish Soap. While dish soap won`t get as bubbly as laundry detergent, it`s still not something you should use to clean a spill. When you use dish soap, the soap gets rid of the dirt and possibly even the stain, but it might seep into the fibers of the carpet.
Removing a clog

Use a pair of pliers to make one end of the hanger into a hook shape. Put the end of the hook into the hole where the vacuum where the clog is located. Push the hook down until it won`t go any further. In some cases the hook will go all the way through and push the clog out the other side.

The simple answer is that you should never use your vacuum cleaner on wet carpet. In fact, you should never use it to clean anything that`s even slightly damp. Regular vacuum cleaners are electrical devices that are not designed for fluids.

Floor mate I have a floor mate and it will not put water onto the floor
ANSWER : There is a little post in the back where you insert the top solution/water tank, if you put the tank in incorrectly, (i.e., shoved it in, instead of putting it in at an angle, bottom first) there is a chance you broke it or bent it backwards. My mother broke mine, i’ve got the post but don’t know the part, without that post inserted into the tank the water will not come out.

Hoover Floormate SpinScrub won’t dispense cleaning liquid
ANSWER : I had the same problem and was preparing to take it back, the last thing I tried was to ‘reseat’ the handle — I removed it then snapped it very firmly back into place. That did it, it’s working beautifully now!

Why won’t our Hoover Floor mate deliver water for cleaning?
ANSWER : After reading postings I created my own solution. I took a 1.5cm (approximate length) flush head finishing screw and screwed it into the button contact of the white memebrane and adjusted it to the necessary heigth to make the rod depress at the corrrect depth. My initial placement was too high and I had a continuos flow of water, but was able to fine tune. Also note the head of the screw I used was a similar circumference of the nob of the white membrane.

Just purchased Floor Mate. It will not dispense cleaning solution. It will pick up water on floor and vacuum. Brushes rotate, no other problem.
ANSWER : Either a problem with the valve at the bottom of the tank, or where it sits is called the reservior asm, a rod in the handle hits to release the water, so your problem could be in that area. But you have a years warranty on it, take it to a warranty repair shop for repair.

It is not sending liquid from upper tank to floor, but it does **** up liquid off the floor if I pour it there?

I tested the flow of liquid through the tubing and.distributor by placing a small amount of liquid in the opening under the.solution tank and making sure it drained when the solution trigger was pulled. Since the liquid did drain all the way to the.brushes, it was apparent that the solution was not leaving the tank. In the center of the opening that receives.the solution under the tank (round opening with rubber seal) there is a plastic.pin that is supposed to push into the valve on the solution tank and open it.sufficiently for liquid to pass through the valve. Since the plastic pin has not changed in.length, I assumed that the rubber plunger in the bottom of the solution tank.may be the problem. This rubber piece.does not seem to be replaceable. Since I.am very cheap, I am unwilling to buy a $30.00 solution tank to get a $.25.rubber plunger for this valve. My.solution was to make the plastic pin a little bit longer. I did this by drilling a very tiny hole in.the top of the pin and installing a very small screw which allows me to adjust.the distance that the pin pushes up into the valve on the tank. I adjusted the screw almost all the way down.and turned it up a little at a time until liquid once again flowed to the.brushes. I have only used the machine.once since this modification but it seems to dispense liquid very well now.
..
..A word of warning, if.you break or damage the pin in the process of this modification, the control.valve assembly will not work and it does not appear to be available as a.replacement part. If you are not.confident in your ability to make the modification, then a $30.00 solution tank.is cheaper than a new machine.
