How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

First, check to make sure the unit is plugged in and is in a working outlet. Next, check to make sure there is water in the tank. It is very important to make sure you are ONLY using water to fill the tank. Other solutions may cause breakdown of the gasket and/or other parts of the machine.
The spray tip may be clogged. Use a paperclip and insert it into the spray tip to remove a clog. Now plug back in, making sure you are using a working outlet. You will know, as the Ready light will begin to blink when plugged in.
Check to see if there is water in the water tank. If there isn`t, unscrew the water tank cap and use the filling flask to pour distilled water into the tank until it reaches the fill line. Replace the water tank cap and tighten. Power the device on, wait about 30 seconds for the water to heat up, and then try again.
Steam mops are great for cleaning and keeping sealed hard floors hygienic. But, they can easily become clogged if they get a lot of use or are not cleaned somewhat regularly.
Soap only lifts dirt and oil into water, making them suspend in water. Therefore, the more soap you use, the more your mop gets saturated with dirt. So, if you do not remove all the soapy water from the floor, the dirt remains, forming streaks on the floor.
Mix your purchased descaler or mix 1 1/2 oz. of baking soda with one quart of clean water. Fill the empty tank with this mix. Seal the unit and turn the steam cleaner on so that it begins heating.
Removing limescale stains with a steam cleaner
If lime deposits are not yet very thick, they can be removed quite easily with the steam cleaner – without the need for tiresome manual scrubbing.
To prolong the life of your steam mop, we recommend using distilled water in the tank. Make sure you only add water to the tank – chemicals or cleaning solutions (including vinegar) may damage the steam mop and could be unsafe. For best results, sweep or vacuum your floors prior to cleaning with your steam mop.
Check for a clogged hose or filter; unclog the hose and replace the filter. Wait 45 minutes for the vacuum to cool; then plug in the vacuum. Turn the power switch to the “I-On” position to start the vacuum. If the vacuum still does not start, contact Customer Service at 1-800-798-7398.
Mix a teaspoon of laundry detergent and baking soda into 1–2 litres of hot water. Soak the mop heads in the cleaning solution for 30 minutes to an hour, then scrub them clean. Rinse them in clean water.
Most steam cleaners are designed to be used without detergent, so stick to water only with these. Some models, on the other hand, can be used with detergent – follow the manufacturer`s instructions.
Our testing has found that all steam mops remove stains fairly well, with marginal differences, and are likely slightly better than a regular mop and bucket due to the heat and vapour produced by the steam.
Do Steam Cleaners Use Soap or Chemicals? These appliances use only clean, cold, tap water. No chemical or detergents can, or should, be used in these systems.
Never add vinegar to your steam mop. The mechanisms that process the water and treat the steam are intended for pure water and nothing more. Vinegar can break the internal components. Avoid the use of vinegar on laminate flooring, as the acidic properties can dull the finish over time.
Steam mopping over a painted surface is risky, even if the paint layer is sealed. The heat from the steam can cause bubbles beneath the paint, which may then peel. Best to avoid steam mopping on all painted floor surfaces.

How to clean out your steam mop with house hold ingredients. Mix half vinegar and half peroxide pour in steam mop and turn on then and a tsp of baking soda to the mixture it will foam up let in sit and run put cape on and shake it up then be patient takes about 5 to 10 mins for the steam to start to come out again.
Mix a solution of ½ cup of distilled white vinegar per gallon of warm water. Mop floors. If you`re using it on hardwood floors, it`s very important to wring your mop out as much as possible.
If you have checked for airway blockages and have cleared your filters, a damaged or deteriorating hose may be causing your vacuum`s loss of suction. On most Shark vacuums, there are two hoses to check, the short hose between the main vacuum head and the base, and the hose between the handle and the wand.

Sticky floors happen when you have not passed the mop to remove too much cleaning solution or the wrong cleaning solution. It can also be due to dirty water used in rinsing your mop.
Although some carpet steamers and cleaners have a suction mechanism to remove the cleaning fluid and water from your carpet after cleaning the area, you should only use them for steaming or cleaning a carpet and never use them like a vacuum cleaner.

My Europro shark steam mop won’t steam, light on but no steam.
ANSWER : Hard water deposits. I ran some white vinegar through mine, like a coffee maker, and it worked for a while, but clogged again. So I unplugged it, let it cool and turned it over in the bathtub and squirted a small amount of Lime-Away into the hole where the steam comes out. Let it soak for 5- 10 minutes and it is working like is is brand new.

Shark Steam Mop – Gray/ Purple Vacuum: shark steam mop has water, but there is no steam….
ANSWER : I tried running vinegar through as you would a coffee pot to get rid of hard water scales. This did not work. Then I noticed that the light behind the shark decal on the front of the machine was going off and on. And sure enough as I moved the cord around the light would come off and on. Looking closer I could see the the heat had melted thru some of the cord.I bought mine at Target before xmas last year, throwing away the sales slip after several months so I guess there is nothing I can do about it.

I purchased a Euro-Pro Steamer Mop 9 months ago and the Mop had just quit steaming. The green light is on and it makes a steaming sound but it is not getting hot and does not shoot out any steam like it should. Does it have an element or something that has gone bad in such a short time???

After plugging in the steam mop, waiting for the 30 sec, pumping 12-15 times – no steam comes out. the tank is full and if i take off the bottom attachment the steam sprays everywhere. but the steam will not come out when mop head is on. thanks

I loved my Shark Steam Pocket Mop, but it suddenly stopped producing steam through the mop heads. The water is heating and I can see and hear steam coming out of the actually body of the mop, but it will not go through to the head. I have thought of running white vinegar through it.
