Dyson DC07 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?
Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :
If your Dyson Ball Animal vacuum no longer sucks up dirt, dust, and debris when using the nozzle and its attachments, there may be a clog in the vacuum`s nozzle. Unplug the vacuum and use the Dyson Ball Animal Hose Replacement Guide to remove the vacuum`s hose and check for clogs at the base of the hose.
The most common cause of loss of suction is that the filters have become blocked. They may require cleaning or replacing. Another cause could be that the vacuum cleaner hose is blocked.
One of the easiest ways to increase vacuum cleaner suction is to empty the dust bag or container. Dust containers need to have enough space for airflow, otherwise, they could get clogged and have less suction power. Regularly check your dust compartment and empty or change it when it`s already 70-80% full.
Gravity and friction are the two main forces that make vacuum suction work. While gravity pulls molecules in the air toward the earth, creating an atmospheric pressure, the suction cup and vacuum pump cause a pressure difference, attaching both surfaces.
All vacuum cleaners operate based on air flowing from the opening at the cleaning head or tool, through the vacuum cleaner and the bag and/or filter system and then out the exhaust port. This airflow is created by the vacuum motor, which also may be referred to as the suction motor.
Clog located in the vacuum hose
Turn the unit on and feel the suction at the end of the hose handle. If there is no or low suction, then the clog is in the hose. You can remove the clog by running a long, stiff object through the hose, such as a butter knife, starting at the wall end.

No Suction I get great suction in the hose, but when I plug the hose back into the unit, there is no suction and the air flow indicator line goes completely red. I've changed the bag and filters. I took the small panel off the back and made sure there is no clog, and took the hose off to make sure there was no clog there. Still no suction. Please help.
ANSWER : I about to say that’s always a clog of some sort that causes that
My hose suction is barely working. We took apart all the parts and have not found any clogs
ANSWER : There are two filters on this machine the usual one which should be removed and washed, the other is under the waste bin begind a circular securing ring, this will need prizing of with a screwdriver. I suggest you try the machine without any filters prior to refitting.

Lost suction my DCO7 lost suction in the hose I started taking it apart and cleaning it and looking for clogs (probably more than I should have) and when I put it back together it has awesome suction in the hose but no suction in the base. It just pulls the pine needles up (christmas tree) but they never appear in the “bag” compartment and when I look they are just all gathered in a clump in the bottom by the brush.

My dyson dc17 animal will pick up via the hose attachment but there is no suction when you use the regular vaccuum on the floor – you can hear the difference in the suction once you put the floor part down – we took it apart – cleaned it – checked all hoses – still does not work????
ANSWER : Hi its Darran at Dyson.
Check that the brush control dial is in the centre position when upright and then moves forward when the head is released. If the brush bar is still not spinning when switched on in the vacuuming position, check the base for blockages and remove any threads or hairs from the brush bar as outlined in your user guide or on our website.

Suction hose I can’t get the suction hose to work…and I have cleaned it out to make sure it isn’t plugged. There is a small amount of suction just not enought to pick anything up…..the floor part works great…what could be the problem
ANSWER : I would first double check the hose, remove it and drop a marble through it to be sure. make sure the bag is new and also check the filter underneath the bag if it is clogged it could cut the suction.
My Bissell ProHeat 2x is pouring water out of the bottom anytime it’s turned on. I had it in the shop for no water, took it back again for the same problem, took it back again because it had no suction, finally took it apart and found the problem with the suction and fixed it myself. Worked fine for a day and now it is constantly leaking water, if it’s turned on, and is useless for anything except for making a mess.
ANSWER : Took the unit apart and discovered my heater had small pinholes in the metal and they had put in silicone, instead of a gasket, which didn’t seal. So much for the place I took it to “saving” my heater for me. I repaired it myself by getting a few o-rings and a seal from the hardware store. As for the “holes” in the bottom – a little marine fixative.
No Suction I have a dc18 dyson and it had lost suction from the main hoover and the hose part. If you remove the dust collection part there is suction from the hole behind that part. I have cleaned all part to this hoover but the problem is still there. Any help would be apprieciated. Thanks
