How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

If your paint gun is not spraying paint at all, it`s most likely due to a clog either in the air vent hole or the hose. Clean any dried paint with a toothpick, and use a cleaning solvent to clear any remaining gunk. If you`ve cleaned your paint gun and find that it still isn`t spraying, take a look at the air supply.
A fluttering occurs when the nozzle is not tight enough. Inspect the nozzle for looseness or stripping of the nozzle threads before tightening. A clogged nozzle will produce an undesirable spray pattern. Clean and replace the nozzle and other damaged seals or o-rings.
Make sure there is a vent hole in the cap of your siphon bottle or paint cup lid. Otherwise a vacuum will form and stop the paint from flowing. In a siphon airbrush, a really leaky needle seal or needle bearing can cause this. To check for this, turn the airbrush upside down and put some water in the paint inlet.
SOLUTION: This common problem is also known as “fluttering”. Symptoms of fluttering include a pulsing spray and/or hissing sound. This can happen when a loose nozzle causes air to escape. To tighten the nozzle, simply use a socket or line wrench to turn the nozzle clockwise. This should fix the issue.
If this is the issue you experience the most likely cause is that the transducer is worn out. The transducer signals to the airless pump that pressure is needed and signals to run the pump to build pressure. Failure to build pressure often indicates that you need to replace the transducer.
A tip that is too small can cause spitting and a tip that is too large can cause uneven coverage. Adjust the pressure: Adjust the pressure on your sprayer to the lowest setting that allows you to achieve the desired spray pattern. Too much pressure can cause spitting.
Air pressure is measured in psi (pounds per square inch), and the recommended value is anywhere between 10 – 60 psi depending on the viscosity of the airbrush paint being sprayed. Thin paints typically require low pressure (10-20 psi) while thicker, more viscous paints may require higher pressure (40-60 psi).
If you`re flushing your airbrush in between colors or at the end of the day, water works well as a cleaner for water-based paints, or paint thinner for oil-based paints. If you`re giving your airbrush a thorough cleaning, try to use an airbrush cleaner specifically designed to clean your airbrush.

A drop in your sprayer pressure can be caused by several things – a clogged nozzle, a clogged filter, a low-pressure setting, a broken clutch, a damaged valve, and using a hose that is too long. You will need to troubleshoot the machine to identify and fix the particular problem.

My Kirby G3 paint attachment isn’t spraying the paint. I have everything hooked up according to the manual, and it sprays a continuous stream of air, but isn’t sucking up the paint to spray. Sometimes I can get short spurt when I point the unit directly down, but i can’t get a continuous spray.
ANSWER : Mcdevito75 here, Sounds like it”s cogged with paint, the paint is not being sucked up into the Spray gun itself, the air flows thru thr spray gun thru the trigger assembly. Follow the makers cleaning of the spray section of the spray gun. Try running paint thinner thru the spray system. Hpope this helps.

I have a hoover 3000 i have not used in awhile, and since I removed a large rug, I would like to use it again on my slate floor. HOWEVER, I cannot get it to pick up ANY water in the water recovery unit……it is dry, dry, dry. I have put in a new filter, cleaned the nozzle unit, the scrubber , and reconnected both the recovery unit and the water unit several times, but to no avail. I would like to get a graut attachment a well as replacement part, but since I can’t get the basic unit to work, I
ANSWER : Have you made sure the plastic filter cover with the round hole in it that covers the filter is in place ( part # 59177096 ). This piece seems to get lost, and without it there is no pick-up. The other common problem is that the wheel assembly has been damaged. Look at the bottom of the Floormate. You will see a black plastic wheel assembly. There are two pegs at the rear attaching it to the base. If this piece has a crack in it where it attaches to the base, there will be no pick-up.

My shampooer only sprays a single stream of shampoo and water whenever I use it on the carpet…
That and I can’t get it to lay a nice even layer of shampoo to soak in and then pick it up…it always does a single heavy stream and tries sucking it up immediately after it’s sprayed out?
ANSWER : You are probably missing the foam screen on the tank outlet. There should be a plastic disk with a fine screen in it on the tank outlet. If the screen is missing, foam will not be produced; and just soap water will be sprayed out. Sometimes the screen assembly can be found in the end of the shampooer hose.

Sucks but does not spray water. Everything seems to be turning and working. My dog was sick and it sucked up the stain after I sprayed the stain by hand. But it does not rinse or spray liquid any kind onto the carpet to shampoo it.

I have an old Shop Vac model 3331.5. This is a 12 gallon 1.5 hight peak shop vac with a detachable blower. After many years I decided to use the blower feature, but have lost the lost the manual. Question; how do I attach the hoses to the blower? The motor has that cap on it the direct the flow of air in one direction and the wide hoses do not fit over it. I may be missing a part, but I would think the directional cap would have to come off anyway.
ANSWER : Remove the cap that directs the air and insert the hose in there.

Kirby G3 Why is my Kirby G3 Blowing air and not sucking?
ANSWER : Take the front of the kirby off (the part that has the brush roller in it) and look in the big hole where the fan impeller is. Most likely this plastic part is cracked and needs to be replaced. Just turn the metal rod sticking out of the hole and the outer ring with the fan blades on it will be cracked off of the inner piece. It is a cheap part (usually $12-$15) but getting to it is not for the mechanically disadvantaged.

I can’t get the vacuum to **** and can’t get to the point of the clog. The pieces don’t come off. Also need to know how to get the filter piece off the machine.
