How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?
Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :
A clog is a common (perhaps the most common) reason that a Dyson unit loses suction. They have a number of choke points in the airflow paths. Some considerations follow: Hoses: because of their often rough inner surfaces and inevitable bends, hoses are prime locations for clogs.
The Dyson DC07 was introduced in 2001 with brand new Root Cyclone technology.
The DC07 had a long production run from 2001 until 2008, and came in many different colour combinations.
A Dyson vacuum cleaner has a lifespan of around 10 years.
Check the LED light to determine the battery level. A solid blue light indicates that the machine is in normal operating mode. A flashing blue light indicates that there is no power, and the battery needs to be charged for a minimum of 3.5 hours.
You`ll find it on your machine, on a label that looks like this. Example: 123-CA-A12345 or AB1-CA-A123456. First two fields are required. Example: 123-CA-A12345 or AB1-CA-A123456.
There are two filters on a DC07, the first is the pre-motor filter, which are washable and is recommended by Dyson to be washed at least every 6 months. The pre motor filter also acts as a protection to the motor, trapping the smallest of dirt or debris from travelling to the motor.

Dyson has stopped making full-size, plug-in vacuum cleaners and revealed the products that will replace them. The company is going to focus on its smaller, battery powered models, it said.
In many cases, you probably can repair a Dyson yourself, especially when it comes to common issues (see below). However, even if your machine needs some extra TLC by a Dyson expert, it can be worth getting it repaired.
Hot environments speed up battery aging. So it`s best to avoid cleaning the car in hot weather or leaving your vacuum in rooms that experience direct sunlight for prolonged periods. The same goes for cold porches and garages in winter.
If there is a strong burning smell coming from the motor area of your Dyson DC14 or DC07 then it is most likely that your motor has burnt out.
One of the first things to do when your Dyson vacuum cleaner keeps starting and stopping is to empty the bin. It may be full, or the machine may simply perceive it as too full to continue working. Dyson vacuum cleaners require constant airflow through them to work, and a full bin can stop this from happening.
Vacuum cleaners are fairly simple machines. They need power to be transmitted to the vacuum to create a suction force that lifts debris. So, the usual areas that cause suction loss include the wrong height setting, stuck rollers, a faulty gasket, a broken vacuum belt, a filled bag, or a clogged hose.
Putting in the incorrect amount of oil, putting in the wrong type of oil, and oil contamination can all cause the pump to not reach full vacuum. For this reason, you must check the oil regularly to ensure that it is not only clean, but also properly filled.
A few reasons why your Dyson is pulsing are potential blockages or problems with the bin or filter.

I have a Eureka 4870GZ. It turns on, but the brush roller doesn’t move. The belt looks fine. I do have an extra belt and would try replacing the old belt, but I can’t get the old one off the motor shaft or the new one on. I called Eureka customer service. The lady said there’s supposed to be a small space between the motor shaft and the outside edge of the vacuum where I can slip the old belt off and the new one on. I don’t see it. It looks like the motor shaft goes into a recessed place in the
ANSWER : Remove the top cover so that you can access to belt, You’ll find 2 rows of 4 decorative holes on the top cover, In two of the holes you’ll find the screws, Please use a flash light to see in that., Once the screws are removed, you’ll be able to take out the top cover. Pull the belt so that it should rotate the shaft and look for small space in between from where you can take off the old belt and new belt on. remove the agitator from its drive shaft, put new belt in, put the agitator back into place.
Dyson DC07 The plastic pre filter catch snapped on my Dyson. I have a replacement already, but can’t figure out how to remove the bottom of the broken one. It looks easy enough to slide/snap the new one in but accessing the old one isn’t easy. What do I need to do to get it out?
Turn your dyson over so you can get to the bottom undo the screw and then you can see the bottom of the clip a gentle tap with with a screw driver blade will knock it out and the other one slips in
No Suction My two year old Kenmore Progressive stopped working in January. The guy at the Sears service center convinced me that buying a new one would be cheaper than getting it fixed. So I bought the exact same model and now this one has given out in the exact same way! I’m so confused. When I press on, it lights up and makes the whirring noise. Everything seems to be working but there is no suction anywhere. Not in the main part or the hose and there’s no “cyclone effect” in the chamber. All
Try looking within the vacuum to see where the suction is getting stuck at. You may have to do some disasselbmeing but this is a manufacturers problem. You should also try to speak to the manager at the support and make a big dispute until you get your way. (usually works with those people) If possible, return the vacuum.
Lost Suction This is my second hoover steamvac and i am having the same problem with my new one as i did with the old one that i tossed out. I have used it about 12 times and it worked great the first 6 times… Now i’ll empty a full tank of water and only half will get sucked back up. I have tried taking it apart and cleaning and also the rubber seal had some gaps so i sealed those thinking that it was leaking air from there…can anyone help? I am so close to chucking this one and buying somet
Usually when there is no suction, one cause is the lid to the recovery tank is not on all of the way in the back. Also if you have that foam filter on the underneath side of the recovery tank lid, it needs to have a 1/4 in or so gap from the top of the filter to the top of the lid. Some models also have a duct that sits in front of the recovery tank, and if it isn’t there, you have no suction.
My dyson seems to have lost its suction therefore is not picking up anything yet i have found that when my dyson is standing upright it has a little more suction but nothing like how it use to work. This has only happend in the last 2 weeks. I sanded a floor & though the sander picked up majority of the dust i did use the dyson to pick up the excess and it is since then that my dyson has not been working to its full potential.

Dyson animal We bought a Dyson Animal from Sears a few years ago along with a service contract. We took it each year to be serviced. One year I took it because it lost it’s suction. They sent it to the factory, but it came back still not working right. We did the same procedure over ands over many times than I can remember. I now have the cleaner in my garage and am using my old vacuum because I just can’t seem to get anywhere with Sears. Please help me. We paid almost $600.00 and now it can’t b
As someone who works for Sears, let me just say right now.. The service contract you bought sucks.. and does not really do anything for you. it was just a wast of money ( they have a new one now.. thats so much better because you get your money back in full on a gift card but anyways) When you buy a dyson from any place you really have no need for that contract, since sears CANT touch your dyson. Your really better off calling Dyson up and talking to them yourself, i know you said sears sent it out.. but wait heres a shocker.. Sometimes they never *really* send anything out to be fixed.. if it does not bring them in money, they don’t care.. and then they can get you to buy a *new* vacuum from them with that same S.C. that is of no use!.
.Sorry i cant help with your problem, but just wanted to give you a little insight on how Sears works since K mart bought them.
