Kirby Vacuum Hi Bruce, In my opinion, yes the Kirby would be worth it, as long as you are not replacing the motor. The switch would be the most expensive part besides the motor that would need to be replaced. The switch costs USD 49.99, the cord is roughly $39.99, and the carbon brushes are $29.99. I can easily walk you through any of these repairs should you need help. Kirby’s are great vacuum cleaners, that usually last 30+ years. Brand new these machines sell in the US for $1600 or more,

Wertheim XL180 vacuum cleaner not working

The past month our XL180 would stop working after 20-40mins therefore we'd wait 1-2 hours to resume cleaning. Now it doesn't turn on at all. Would this mean its good for nothing? Tips on maintenance would be much appreciated, i consider myself a handyman always willing to give something a go.

If it does, it will need replaced. You have probably already tried, but try it on another outlet to see if that is the issue. If they both check out, you may have blown a fuse. You will need to get to the fuse to check it. Reset any breaker(s) that is in the vacuum cleaner. Make sure you clean all contacts inside the vacuum cleaner. The connection may be bad. You need to get a voltage meter and test all wires inside for continuity. “If you find a section that is not getting current, replace that section.

I have an ODC325 Black&Decker spacemaker coffeemaker on my boat and it stopped working this weekend although the hot plate still gets hot. I suspect it is the thermal switch as you described (I hear a click when I switch the machine on but nothing happens and the heating element does not kick in). ANSWER : We don’t sell parts individually on the site here…. was it some other solution for another person you saw about the switch? I don’t believe there really is a part called a thermal switch… there is a thermal fuse but if the hotplate gets hot I would think the thermal fuse is fine..

The e series rainbow 2 speed works only on low speed. High speed will not run. What is srong?

iRobot runs for a couple of seconds and stops, then starts, then stops. After two or three times I now have a red light on for the Status.

All of the wheels seem to be clean. I used compressed air to clean the underside. But still have the start stop problem.

I have a panasonic mc-ul975 vacuum that works great when working properly. the airflow through the canister seems to stops once the aero blast technology is done running which causes the vacuum to not function as it should (does not have as much suction and the hose/tool accessories do not work at all). if air is continually running through the canister everything seems fine. please help!
ANSWER : Hi there. In Panasonic vacuums2.gif, there is a thermostat protection on the motor. It will automatically shut off the motor if there is no airflow through the motor. This is typically caused by a clogged hose. Typically, if your dust container is that full, there could be backup in the hose. Or the dust container being too full could also or otherwise be the problem. Check your hose for blockage, let the machine cool off, it should start up again
