Stopped running My mother’s Oreck vacuum sound as if there was something bogging the rotating brush down. I pulled the bottom cover off and found nothing wrapped around or restricting the brush. I tried to finish vacuuming with the problem then I turned it off to move a chair and turned it back on it would do nothing. Any suggestions as to what could be causing the vacuum to sound as if the rotating brush is being restricted from turning. There was not odor of burning as if the motor was in a bi
ANSWER : Orecks have a plastic fan inside and everything you pick up hits it, sometimes things can get stuck in there or break the fan locking up the motor. With the machine off, poke around where the dirt goes into the motor, behind the roller and see if you can pull anything out.

Had my dyson root cyclone for about 4 years now, and in the last year it’s had a few problems. About 4 months ago it started to make this awful grinding sound when the roller bar was engaged and I took it to a repair shop and they said it was the roller bar itself. The shop replaced the part and it worked fine for a couple of months and then it started to make the grinding noise again. I tried the clutch reset suggestion (turn it on its side and turn the carpet/bare floor switch slowly back and

I have a dyson canniter stow away vacuum. i’ve had it for 2 years and it just started having a problem. when i turn it on the motor starts just fine but the vacuum head does not turn on. Yet when i push it forward it trys to start and turns on for a second and turn off – almost like the connector isn’t connecting the hose to the head very well anymore.
ANSWER : Hi, After reading you’re problem, the symptom’s are just like you said. Its just a matter of checking the connections. The connection where it plugs into the head it self. When you push forward the forward motion and down pressure makes the connection for a few seconds. Anywhere you have a power connection double check it to see if it is loose. I wouldn’t think it is a serious problem, just a matter of looking it over very good. You should have no problem in finding the solution. When you first turn it on is when the head should also turn on, so, that’s where I would check first where the hose connects to the motor. Move the hose and head around to see if it trys to start and see if you can locate the problem. Keep me posted on what you have found and we can go from there.
Sincerely, Shastalaker7

When I turned on the sweeper it would not start. I put a different power cord on it and it worked fine. now it won’t start but the light on the brush and the bag full will flash when i turn it on and off but it wont start. i have 2 of these doing the same thing. do you have any idea what could be wrong. I have checked for clogs but have found none. Bob

Infinity Vaccum by Shark, model number NV31COS, will not start. The vacuum was running just fine until it grabbed the edge of a curtain. Turned it off to release the suction. Turned it back on and was working fine. About a minute later the vacuum was making an odd noise. Every 2 seconds or so it would “heave” (lack of a better word) then go away, then come back and so on. Turned the vacuum off and checked for blockage, none that could be seen or felt, and now the vacuum won’t turn. Any suggestio
