How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

Tubing Loose or Damaged

Since high temperature tubing in the bottom of the machine could be loose or damaged from movement or heavy use, inspect these hoses for secure connections. Remove your bottom plate to access the water lines. The hoses can then be removed and visually inspected for disconnections or buildup.

Circumstances that may cause the filter basket to overflow or the coffee maker to brew slowly include excessive amounts of ground coffee or a grind that`s too fine. Or the appliance might need cleaning. “Use slightly less grounds when brewing decaffeinated, flavored, or finely ground coffee,” she says.
The top culprit of a leaking coffee machine is a lime buildup in the lines and water tank. If you have an older coffee maker, the plastic lines or water tank might be brittle and crack, letting water leak around the unit.
FAULT: COFFEE MACHINE LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH

Solution: Most times, when the question is asked: “Is the water leaking clean or dirty?” the response is dirty. This is an indication that the drain hose has been blocked, usually due to excessive amounts of milk, coffee grinds or chocolate being poured down the drip tray.

The primary cause for this type of problem is any type of blockage or water clog. The first thing to do is check the tube within the coffee pot. If there are obstructions here, or if the tube is clogged, water or any other liquid will not be able to pass through.
Flip the coffee maker over so the bottom is facing upwards. Use the screwdriver with size 4 extension with the T10 Torx bit to remove all four 17 mm long screws. Lift the bottom cover off the bottom of the coffee maker.
Leaks from the bottom of the water heater are either minor or require a replacement. Either the drain valve or the tank itself causes these water heater leaks. Drain valves usually need tightening, but if the tank has a leak, the whole thing needs to go. These replacements are expensive, but necessary.
Coffee in an electric drip brewer (a model like this) goes all murky brown and opaque very fast, when the pot is left without a lid. With lid, it stays translucent and bright dark brown for quite a bit longer.
They continued: “A sealed lid could easily melt from the steam created by scalding-hot coffee. However, the drinking hole and the second, tiny hole both allow steam to escape to keep the lid from melting.”
Flip the coffee maker over so the bottom is facing upwards. Use the screwdriver with size 4 extension with the T10 Torx bit to remove all four 17 mm long screws. Lift the bottom cover off the bottom of the coffee maker.
The seals are worn out

To find out if the problem is coming from there, simply fill this tank and see if any water is leaking from the joint below. This part can then be worn, crushed or broken. If this is the case, remove and replace this seal so that water no longer flows under the unit.

We have the water hooked up at the back of machine. there is a spout for the water to come in and fill the ice tray.but is does not. If we turn the water on it fills up the space under the ice basket. I keep getting red light and then the two smal llight one ice and one water come on. We can hear the motor trying to fill the ice try and then lights come on. Please help me this so I can use this product. It did not come with a manual.
ANSWER : The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn’t seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.
With the fill tube blocked with ice the water can drip down the back wall or drip into the ice bin or just stop up. You can use a hairdryer to thaw the tube out.

When I put the clean water bottle on water pours out of the bottom. A little water has always come out but it is now pouring out. I tested my water bottle which seems to be okay. What is the problem?
ANSWER : I have the same problem with mine. I did the chat thing at the Eureka site, but the info wasn’t helpful. There is a little part that opens the bottle to release the water when the handle is squeezed. I don’t know if that needs replaced or if there is something stuck in the handle grip or ??? I am only putting 1 gallon of water in the tank, so it is not over-full. It is tap water. I live inside a city and have soft water. I don’t think it has anything to do with the upper tank, though.

Our problem with our Rainbow E Series is that it has sucked water up and blown it out through the lower part of the hepa filter, making the filter wet and dirty. This had happened before and the repair shop did not see any problems with the machine, so we replaced the filter and were very carful not to overfill the tank and to change the water often. Now it has happened again and ruined another filter. Do you know what could be causing this issue? Can the filter be cleaned or will a new one be

.

1. There is no reason to waste money on an EXPENSIVE replacement. While some people may like the fact that something that may be brand new may work better, this is not always the case.
.

2. You can easily set the filter out to try as long as there is NO WET ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, if so, you will be facing electrical damage
.

3. Once you have performed a natural or sun dry on the old filter, ensure to check your unit for anything that may have caused the back clog.
.

4. Back clogs for your model are often times associated with a BUILD UP of dirt and HAIR. YOU may always use pressure air for example at a gas station to flush out the build up.
.

5. Other occasions, users accidently build the vac WRONG causing continual backup and water going where it is NOT suppose to go.

Hoover steamvac when I use it it leaks out of bottom. when it off an water in tank leaks out of bottom, when its off an I pull the triggar it flows big time out of bottom. tank doesnt leak when off sitting with water in it
ANSWER : Let me start out with an apology. I did not ask my question very well – and you did not answer it as I needed.
.If you wish, we MAY be able to communicate in your native language. We can do most indian languages, Turkish, Ukranian and some Russian – as well as Spanish. If any of those are easier for you – please feel free to use any of them.
.
.The Machine storage tanks are 2 – one clean water, one dirty water.
.I understand that, when OFF, no leaks happen.
.I understand that when on a leak comes from “the side”. Also, water comes from the bottom.
.
.So, water comes out near the bottom brushes (even without trigger). Then, with trigger, MUCH water comes out near bottom brushes. Am I correct so far?
.
.Water out the side concerns me. I am guessing that the bottom of the clean storage tank may have a small leak.
.I am also guessing that the trigger valve (located in the small opening behind the black rubber seal that the clean water tank rests on) is not closing all of the way – or is broken (cracked).
.
.Can you please remove the clean water tank and inspect the trigger valve with a torch (flash light). Can you see it open/close as you operate the trigger? Is it broken, cracked, or dirty?
.If yes then it must be replaced. If no, the the storage tank is bad and must be repaired.
.
.You inspect all of these things and you should be able to determine the failure. THEN, I an help you repair the failed item.

I have a Bissell Proheat 2XTurbo carpet cleaner. No water will come out when I squeeze the trigger. I have filled the solution tank and the water tank. I read the troubleshooting in the manual and have tried turning it off for a minute and restarting and nothing. I took out both tanks and reseated them and nothing. It has sat for over a year but did not have any water in the water tank. Some solution was left in the solution tank. How can I make the water come out? HELP!

I have a bissell quickwash 1950-e. I bought it Jan. 2006, and have only used it 8-10 times, I live in a very hard water area, so I though if I put some vinegar in with the cleaning solution it would get rid of any hard water deposits, unfortunatly the solution went lumpy in the tank and stoped spraying out water, I have opened it, hose clean, sprayer not blocked, x at bottom of water container when depresed water trickles out, component that opens the x when water container placed, also ran wate
ANSWER : Hard to say what is causing your problem, replacing the cap and insert on the water tank may help, part #2041111, even tho it may trickle out water when depressed, they can still be bad. The other thing would be the rod not relesing the water like it should. The big draw back to this model is Bissell has obsoleted all of its parts and most are no longer available. Might be wiser to buy new.
