How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

If you notice that your Hoover shampooer or carpet cleaner doesn`t spray water or the brush roll doesn`t spin, then typically you need to replace your turbine assembly. This is another very common repair need for these shampooers because the turbine is air-driven.
Spray issues
If your Rug Doctor has little or no cleaning solution spraying from the bottom of the machine, try the following: Check the machine is set to carpet cleaning mode. Make sure you are holding down the red spray button on top of the handle. Check the red base tank has enough water, and refill if necessary.
Should the brush not rotate freely there may be debris tangled around the ends of the brush, carefully remove any obstructions or replace the brush with a new one. We recommend that you fit a new belt and brush once per year to keep your Reactive vacuum working efficiently.
Your Vax carpet cleaner may not be picking up water because the machine has picked up too much grime, and has become blocked up. Check around the head of the carpet cleaner for anything obvious that might make the suction on the Vax weaker, or look for clumps of hair that could be caught in the bristles.
Heating Element. A common cause to your cleaner not producing steam can be a failed heating element. As the heater is used to heat up the water, if that has ruptured or burnt out your steam cleaner will not produce any steam. With the water tank filled and switched on the steamer should sound like a boiling kettle.
If you still have reduced or no spray it might mean the pump has lost its prime. To fix this, turn the power off and then back on. Wait for one minute, then depress the trigger.
`Tripped` reset systems are the most common reasons for a brushbar not turning, but there are some other less common reasons too. These include: If the bearings on the end of the brushbar have seized, you won`t be able to turn it at all. This will often result in a broken belt as well, so be aware of this.
One of the main reasons why carpets smell after a deep clean is the underlay. Basically, this part of the carpet padding is not exposed to direct light or air, so it takes a lot more time to dry properly. And you know what excess moisture leads to? Precisely – mould and mildew smell after carpet cleaning.

I have a Hoover SteamVac F5914-900 SpinScrub… The last time I used the hand tool attachment, it worked fine. Just tried to use it again, and now I only drips of water will come out of the hand sprayer, if that. I have tried prepping it for up to 15 seconds like the manual says… no luck with that. Also it is making a big puddle on the floor, probably because the brushes on the main unit keep spinning when I am trying to use the hand tool which I dont think they are supposed to do? Can a
ANSWER : The brushes can be turned off on most of them via a switch on the hood. There shouldn’t be water coming out onto the floor unless you are pulling the trigger at that top. You probably broke this when attempting to use the tools.

No spray out of hand tool on hoover f5915-900
ANSWER : Same problem here, did you ever find a solution?
My carpet cleaner will not spray. Maybe a little thru the tool but not enough pressure to SPRAY
ANSWER : Thanks to many others who have posted on similar problems — water.and/or solution sprays through the handheld tools, but not through the.main machine.
As others have suggested, I removed the water.reservoir, which exposes the 2 main water sprays mounted above the.rollers. Using, pliers, I carefully slid the clips back. Gently but.firmly removed the two red nozzles.
Elsewhere I have read.suggestions to just do one nozzle at a time. However, I found out that.if you remove both red nozzles, you can then blow through one side and.it will come out the other. In my case, that dislodged a nice.collection of crystal-like chunks (guessing it may be crystallized.residue from the cleaning solution).
There was also a bit of.blockage in one of the red nozzles, which I cleaned out. Make sure you.can blow through both of them with little resistance.
Reassemble:.Push red nozzles back into hoses. Using pliers, reposition sprung clip.back over the red nozzle. Snap nozzles back into place. Refill tanks.and power it up.
In my case, that resolved the problem of no sprays from the main machine. Sprays like new now. Hope yours does too!!
p.s. Make sure you do give it about a minute after you turn it on before you try spraying. If the pump is not allowed sufficient time to prime, you may not get proper flow.
When using the floor configuration, I can’t get the trigger to cause a spray of either water or cleaner. When using the tool configuration and the hand device with brushes etc, the spray works well with the hand trigger.
ANSWER : The trigger on the handle for tthe floor configuration has become loose or broken. When you squeeze it, the action pulls a rod that runs down the length of the shaft and goes into the base and allows the water to spray. You need to check and make sure that it has not come loose. To do that means that you have to take the unit apart or take into a bissel service center. To take it apart you need ot unplug it and lay it down, take the tank out of it and take all the screws out of the base. You can then seperate the top of the base from the bottom and you can see the rod coming from one of the wheel areas. Squeeze the handle trigger and see if it moves.
The tool attachment for the hose on my Bissell ProHeat 2X CleanShot won’t spray soap or water. The bristles on the tool rotate without a problem and the suction is working fine, it just won’t spray water when I pull the little gray trigger on the tool.
