Heating Element. A common cause to your cleaner not producing steam can be a failed heating element. As the heater is used to heat up the water, if that has ruptured or burnt out your steam cleaner will not produce any steam. Tap the mop firmly on the floor a few times to get it steaming again. My mop is still not steaming. Try running a bit of vinegar through your mop. There may be a mineral build-up from your tap water.
check the cap of the water tank to make sure it is correctly and securely attached to the water tank. check your water tank to make sure it is securely and correctly fitted in to the body of the garment steamer – incorrect placement of the water tank can block water from feeding in to the body and boiler of the steamer.

Pull the wound-up power cord out of the mop and plug it into a 120-volt outlet. The on/standby button will start flashing blue. The mop only takes about 30 seconds to fully heat up.
Yes, you can use this mop with water only. It comes with a spray bottle of cleaning solution that you can use optionally.
Make sure this is initially set to the highest setting – you can always then reduce the velocity of the steam as you need during use. Ensure that your water tank cap is securely fitted. The cap on most cleaner`s tanks help to maintain the pressure and seal the steam in the unit, so need to be securely fastened.
If the device isn`t producing steam, please try the following: Check for any debris or blockages in the head and main body. Empty and refill the tank. Check for any limescale/debris in the tank itself and descale if necessary.
Soap only lifts dirt and oil into water, making them suspend in water. Therefore, the more soap you use, the more your mop gets saturated with dirt. So, if you do not remove all the soapy water from the floor, the dirt remains, forming streaks on the floor.
Some manufacturers state that you can use steam mops on sealed wooden floors (that can withstand the moisture and heat from a steam mop) however others advise against it, as the steam can seep into the joins of unsealed wooden floors or laminate floors and weaken the adhesive or cause floorboards to buckle.
We have had some customers who have had their steam cleaners for 5-8 years and are still going strong. For less expensive models like the steam mops or handhelds, you should probably expect more like 3-6 years of consistent use.
The amount of energy is proportional to mass (as well as temperature). Because there is much less steam being produced, there is much less mass. It cools more rapidly on contact with the air and carries far less heat to your hand. The effect you feel has more to do with energy (heat) than temperature.
Thanks to their size, travel steamers also heat up quite fast. Once they`re plugged in, they`ll be ready for use in two to three minutes.
First, attach the mop pad to the mophead, then fill the reservoir with water using the filling flask. Once the steam mop is plugged in, it takes about 20 seconds for the steam to build up, and you`ll hear the mop hissing. During the first use, I found that I had to pump the handle a few times to prime the steam pump.
Once you plug it in, it starts to heat up the water. To activate the steam, you have to pump the handle up and down. We usually started mopping instead of doing the 10 to 15 pumps because with your natural mopping motion you will pump the Shark Steam Mop each time you go forward.
