Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum\015 My Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum motor began sounding louder and louder within the past year. It is to the point that it is now making a rough sound and it does not seem to be picking anyting up anymore. I constantly clean the brushes and the filters. But it does not solve the problems of the noise and the lack of suction. When the vacuum was brand new it was rather quiet. Have you heard of these problems before?\015

How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

The Dyson DC07 was introduced in 2001 with brand new Root Cyclone technology.
If the suction is poor at the inlet to the motor, skip down to Filters are Dirty. If you are getting suction without attachments or through alternate airflow paths, you can narrow the problem to a clog in a hose, brush head, or attachment. Otherwise, your issue may be with the vacuum body itself.
The Dyson DC07 Animal has been designed specifically with pet owners in mind. It comes complete with a HEPA filter, a 3.5 litre bag capacity and a clutch that makes it perfect for all floor types.
The DC07, released in 2001 was the first implementation of Root Cyclone technology into a cleaner.
A Dyson vacuum cleaner has a lifespan of around 10 years. This is considerably longer than most other vacuums. So, if you`re looking for a high-quality vacuum cleaner that will last you for a long time, a Dyson could be a good choice. However, remember that Dyson vacuums are expensive.
The suction control slider is located at the front of the cleaner head. The ball located between the bin and the cleaner head.
Best In Test

The noise from Oxygen vacuum cleaner never reached above 75 dB in our test. Compared to the Dyson, which reached above 90 dB, the Electrolux Oxygen is without a doubt a more silent and better designed machine.

Developed by a team of 370 engineers globally, these latest vacuums use a Dyson Hyperdymium motor which generates up to 230 air watts of suction[1] and 5-stage filtration captures 99.99% of dust particles down to 0.3 microns[2] for a powerful deep clean.
Producing up to 115 Air Watts, it generates powerful suction on carpets and hard floors.
Dyson was designed and patented by a British, had it made in Malaysia (Johor Bahru), – as it is cheaper to make here.
TL;DR: On May 22, Dyson announced a new suite of home products(opens in a new tab) including upgraded cordless vacuums, air purifiers, and a robot vacuum. As of June 6, the Gen5 vacs(opens in a new tab) are the first models up for public purchase. Dyson is entering a new era in 2023.
Based on the latest survey results, Consumer Reports estimates that close to half of Dyson stick vacuums will develop problems or break within five years, compared with around a quarter of the stick vacuums from Shark, the most reliable brand for this type.
Sound enclosures, noise reduction blankets, sound curtain noise barriers, or sound barrier walls are a few options to consider when reviewing noise reduction materials. If the vacuum pump is indoors, a noise enclosure would be the recommended solution.
While Dyson has claimed that the Supersonic hair dryer is quieter than the competition (keep in mind that “supersonic” means “greater than the speed of sound”), both our Lab tests and consumer tests found that the hair dryer is about as noisy as other hair dryers.
If the noise is intrusive, switching the machine off at the wall will stop the noise, or altering the position of the product in the room might make the noise less audible.
The suction power is to be measured at the end of the tube of a complete vacuum cleaner (i.e. with tube, hose and filters – but without nozzle). Some manufacturers show the results from measurements made at the suction of the actual vacuum cleaner.
What is a Good Suction Power for a Vacuum Cleaner? An upright cordless vacuum cleaner should have at least 100 air watts to effectively clean a variety of floor surfaces, with the best Samsung vacuum cleaner reaching up to 210W*.
One of the easiest ways to increase vacuum cleaner suction is to empty the dust bag or container. Dust containers need to have enough space for airflow, otherwise, they could get clogged and have less suction power. Regularly check your dust compartment and empty or change it when it`s already 70-80% full.
Replace the Brush Belt

If the vacuum is still hard to push, tilt it back far enough that you can inspect the moving brush while the vacuum is running. Be careful to avoid getting too close to the moving parts. If you see that the brush is not turning, that means you will need to replace the brush belt.

Extend its life. Dyson cordless vacuum filters are engineered to capture microscopic particles. Over time, these can build up in the filter and reduce performance. By washing it once a month, you can help maintain suction power.

It`s recommended that you change your filter every 12 months. If you run your air purifier frequently or are experiencing a lot of indoor air pollution, you may need to change the filter more often.
I would not use with filter off. This must be a feature of the newer models. This one blows air even with the filter removed. The suction is reduced by a considerable amount.

My DC07 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum has a small attachment for vacuuming carpeted stairs. This attachment is currently not spinning its internal brush necessary to pickup the dirt on the stairs. The rest of the vaccum is working fine. The suction cap on this attachment is pulled out, as it should be. I have checked the vacuum over thoroguhly and there are no bloackages anywhere.
ANSWER : Make sure to extend the wand straight up and completely out of the handle and watch that you don’t kink the hose.

I purchased a brand new Eureka Pet vacuum, sorry don’t know exact name but it the one that has the self cleaning duster on it. Last night I used the vacuum on my carpet, it was working fine until I accidently sucked up the corner of a scarf that was hanging off a couch. I shut the vacuum off, pulled out the scarf and and resumed vacuuming. Much to my dismay the suction on the vacuum had ceased. Can you tell me if there is a reset button on the vacuum? The vacuum does not appear to be damage
ANSWER : If the motor is running, there should be suction. Possible problems depend on whether it’s a canister or upright and are:
.A clog in the hose, UR or canister. Detach hose. Drop small coin in one end and lift hose causing it to roll out the other. If it does, no clog in hose. Drop same coin into hose opening on power head. If it rolls out, no clog in PN.
.Broken fan blades, UR. Needs to be taken to shop for repair/replacement.
.
.A reset button is for use if the motor isn’t running, so won’t have anything to do with the suction.

There is no suction when using as an upright – Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
ANSWER : Detach the hose from power nozzle and check PN for clog. This is the most likely problem if the accessory tools work with the vacuum.

Dirt devil vacuum cleaner–trouble vacuuming dirt and pet hair on carpeting –is the problem with the spinning brush which contacts the floor,  not contacting the carpeting??  I thought (when I bought this vacuum) that the aforementioned brush was adjustable to various heights of carpeting.  Sometimes, it seems like nothing is being vacuumed up –unless I have just put a new bag on the vacuum… Do I need or can I replace the spinning brush on the bottom of the vacuum so it kicks up and vacuums
ANSWER : Try replacing the belt. Rubber belts stretch out after about a year.

Loss of suction on hand tools (DC07) – Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
ANSWER : It sounds like there’s probably a clog in the hose. Drop a small coin or marble down the hose and see if it falls through. There’s going to be a loss of suction in the power nozzle too, just not as noticeable when vacuuming carpet.
.There could also be a clog behind the filter where the hose plugs into tank, or a dirty filter.
