But lately,.it won’t start after I empty the dirt. It feels very hot around the.motor, and I have to let it sit 5 or 10 minutes before it will start. .Then it only runs a few minutes before shutting down again. I checked.all the tubes, cleared out hair from the brushes, washed and dried the.sponge filter, but same problem. Most Dyson vacuum have a built in safety system that stops the machine if it begins to overheat. This usually happens because the filters need washing or your machine is blocked.

Check For Clogs or Blocks In The Vacuum

Check the hoses, the filters, and throughout the vacuum, and clean out any blockages or clogs. Vacuums will likely also have a recommended cooldown time to ensure that the vacuum won`t overheat. You will need to wait for that time before you turn the vacuum back on.

If the machine will no longer efficiently pick items up, the filter might be dirty. If after cleaning the filter your vacuum is still not sucking things up, turn your vacuum around and pull the red tab at the bottom of your Dyson out.

As for battery life, the V7 runs for up to 30 minutes on powerful mode. The V6 lasts for 20 minutes and the V8 runs for up to 40 minutes. Crank the cordless vacuum cleaners to “Max” mode and the V7 will last you a mere 6mins, the same as the V6 and a little behind the V8, which lasts a minute longer at seven minutes.

When a thermal cut off activates, it shuts the motor down. This prevents the motor from overheating to a point where it will no longer function and will need replacing.

The filters are clogged

These will find their way into all parts of the vacuum cleaner and clog up the filters, preventing them from working properly. This will also have an impact on the motor`s ability to cool, making it operate less efficiently and possibly causing it to overheat and produce a burning smell.

Generally overheating is caused by overworking the pump. If your vacuum pump isn`t working as it should, you`re having to run it for longer, or at higher speeds, making the pump overheat and potentially seize.

All batteries, even Dyson`s high-end lithium ion batteries fail given enough time, and the blinking red light problem is an indication that your battery has failed. The battery cannot be fixed. It has to be disposed of and replaced.

Overheated Motor

If your vacuum was working fine and then suddenly shut off, it may have overheated. Most vacuums are equipped with a thermal protector safety switch that won`t allow the motor to run when it becomes overheated. You will need to wait for 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on your machine, to try again.

If your RoboVac has been used for more than one year, it may be time to replace the battery. Replacing the battery usually fixes this specific issue. You can purchase a new battery to replace the existing battery.

A Dyson vacuum cleaner has a lifespan of around 10 years. This is considerably longer than most other vacuums. So, if you`re looking for a high-quality vacuum cleaner that will last you for a long time, a Dyson could be a good choice. However, remember that Dyson vacuums are expensive.

Firstly take it outside, as far away from the door and path as you can, or near or into the wheelie bin. Empty the contents into a plastic bag. Dispose in the outside bin. Use a soft brush of any kind and clean the cylinder casing inside and out.

To reset the Brush bar press the Brush bar control button twice or switch the machine off and back on.

Our Bissell Cleanview II 3576M does a great job except that the filter cup below the dirt cup gets full very fast and the dirt cup barely has anything in it. To clean the whole house, I have to empty the dirt cup and clean the filter several times. It didn’t use to work this way. It seems like something is missing, a gasket or seal maybe? I don’t think dirt, hair and debris should be going straight to the lower cup and bypassing the upper. I looked at the user guide but can’t see why it’s happen

I can’t get the vacuum to **** and can’t get to the point of the clog. The pieces don’t come off. Also need to know how to get the filter piece off the machine.

My eureka enviro vac shut off and wont turn back on it was clogged but does not smell burnt . is there a reset or some kind of shut off when it gets clogged?

ANSWER : Same thing happened to me. I checked the owner’s manual and it turns out the Eureka Envirovac has a built-in thermal cut-off switch. So anytime the motor gets too hot, it just shuts down. Most of the time this is because it gets plugged or the filter is too dirty. In my case, the dust basket thingy and filter were clogged beyond belief. Probably would help to clean that more regularly in hindsight. Supposedly it will turn back on after the recommended 30 minute wait.

Bissell bagless sweeper sucks up dirt but will not put dirt in the canister cup. It will pickup until it clogs, then it will stop picking up dirt. It will really hold quite a bit of dirt before it stops completely up. Thanks for any help.

ANSWER : I had the same problem, called Bissell over 10 times! They send me 3 plastic inserts for the dirt chamber, not the problem. I solved it by throwing the Bissell away and buying a Eureka bagged vacuum, no more problems.

Suction problem I have a Hoover Widepath Fold Away, 12 amp motor vacuum cleaner and the problem I am having is every time I vacuum, the vacuum gets clogged up with carpet. I am probably only able to do one stroke then it gets clogged and I have to stop and unclog it or it spits it out on the carpet. This is very frustrating and I don’t get much vacuuming done. Hoover tempo upright is clogged. I can only vac for a few minutes, then I have to unplug it and turn it over and clean out the under part under the roller. It is totally stuffed with dirt and dust and carpet fibers. I have a new bag in. It is like it is clogged up inbetween the bag and the roller. Also gets clogged when using the hose. It is maybe a year old. How can I take it apart and unclog it?

ANSWER : Disconnect the hose and head and wands. Drop a quarter thru the hose, the handle sometimes clogs. peer thru the wands and inspect the elbow on the head for blockage as well

Motor gets hot in moments and shuts off

ANSWER : True, the motor has safety measures to stop it from overheating… that’s why it shut down. You smelled something, so some kind of damage was done. It’s possible that the over temp switch itself got fried. Doesn’t sound too good from here.
