Troubleshooting your vacuum cleaner`s loss of suction
1) Clogged air filter – As noted above, vacuum cleaners may use one or more air filters to trap dust and dirt as the air travels through the product. The filters can become clogged over weeks of use, reducing the vacuum cleaner`s suction.
Check to see if the collection water tank outside the bladder is full. The float will activate to cut off suction. Empty the collection tank and test for suction. If there is still no suction at this time, please visit a BISSELL Authorized Service Center.
The easiest way to get the moisture or water out of your carpet is by removing it with a wet vacuum. Wet vacs are the perfect tool for getting rid of water in your carpet. They`re relatively inexpensive, and you can easily rent one if you think you may need a wet vac just once.
Tap water contains minerals that can clog the steamer. Empty the water reservoir between steaming sessions. This is especially important for travel and handheld steamers. Dry components with a towel or air-dry before storing the steamer.
Regular vacuum cleaners are not designed to pick up water and other liquids. If you are ever tempted to run the vacuum cleaner over a puddle of water, remember that you run the risk of electrocution and serious damage to the machine.

I purchased a brand new Eureka Pet vacuum, sorry don’t know exact name but it the one that has the self cleaning duster on it. Last night I used the vacuum on my carpet, it was working fine until I accidently sucked up the corner of a scarf that was hanging off a couch. ANSWER : If the motor is running, there should be suction. Possible problems depend on whether it’s a canister or upright and are:
.A clog in the hose, UR or canister. Detach hose. Drop small coin in one end and lift hose causing it to roll out the other. If it does, no clog in hose. Drop same coin into hose opening on power head. If it rolls out, no clog in PN.
.Broken fan blades, UR. Needs to be taken to shop for repair/replacement.

Dirt devil vacuum cleaner–trouble vacuuming dirt and pet hair on carpeting –is the problem with the spinning brush which contacts the floor, not contacting the carpeting?? I thought (when I bought this vacuum) that the aforementioned brush was adjustable to various heights of carpeting. Sometimes, it seems like nothing is being vacuumed up –unless I have just put a new bag on the vacuum… Do I need or can I replace the spinning brush on the bottom of the vacuum so it kicks up and vacuums
ANSWER : Try replacing the belt. Rubber belts stretch out after about a year.

I have a bissell quickwash 1950-e. I bought it Jan. 2006, and have only used it 8-10 times, I live in a very hard water area, so I though if I put some vinegar in with the cleaning solution it would get rid of any hard water deposits, unfortunatly the solution went lumpy in the tank and stoped spraying out water, I have opened it, hose clean, sprayer not blocked, x at bottom of water container when depresed water trickles out, component that opens the x when water container placed, also ran wate
ANSWER : Hard to say what is causing your problem, replacing the cap and insert on the water tank may help, part #2041111, even tho it may trickle out water when depressed, they can still be bad. The other thing would be the rod not relesing the water like it should. The big draw back to this model is Bissell has obsoleted all of its parts and most are no longer available. Might be wiser to buy new.

I have a Bissell Pro 2x carpet cleaner. The water heats properly as well as spraying the cleaning product. However, when I go to suction the water from the carpets, the 2 in 1 water tank bladder works properly but there is no dirty water outside the bladder. I have only used this carpet cleaner ~ 5 times and in the beginning I had to empty the suctioned water quite frequently as it was dirty and it could not not hold any more water. So I have done 1 room and all the dirt remains in the carpet
ANSWER : Check that the suction cone is not blocked. Check that the filter or hose to the bladder isn’t blocked as well.

I have a Kirby G4 Vacuum Cleaner – MOdel G4 D. I have never had any problems or repairs done to it in the past ten plus years that I’ve had it. This is an upright vacuum. I was vacuuming the carpet floor and was not having any trouble at all. I switched the vacuum off and moved it into a different room. When I tried to turn on the vacuum, it would not turn on. I have a Bissell Proheat 2XTurbo carpet cleaner. No water will come out when I squeeze the trigger. I have filled the solution tank and the water tank. I read the troubleshooting in the manual and have tried turning it off for a minute and restarting and nothing. I took out both tanks and reseated them and nothing. It has sat for over a year but did not have any water in the water tank. Some solution was left in the solution tank. How can I make the water come out? HELP!

Vacuum smells I have a 6 year old rainbow vacuum model E and it smells terrible everytime I use it. Probably because often times i don’t remove the water basin after vacuuming and just let it sit. It’s my own fault however now I don’t know what to do to get rid of this terrible smell. I’ve water cleaned the hepa filter, not able to remove the separator screw to clean. Can you give me some suggestions?
ANSWER : In addition to vinegar, baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is also an excellent remedy for many odour problems.
Try generously sprinkling baking soda on a rug you wish to clean, and afterwards, vacuum up the spot.
Rugs, and dirt may be broomed beforehand, and you may want to spread the soda over a large enough area to avoid having a small “clean spot”.
Repeat as necessary, and buy the bigger boxes of baking/washing soda. It has many more great uses that you can discover.
