Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :
A possible cause might be that the tank is not properly seated. To assure the tank is seated properly, pick it up and re-seat is so it sits snugly on the unit. If this doesn`t fix the problem, make sure the tank is assembled properly. To make sure they are both latched properly, pick the tank up by its handle.
Check to see if your clean water tank is empty. The clean water tank also may not be seated properly. The brush window could also not be latched into place. Turn off your machine and check to see if the brush window is secure.
First, check to make sure the clean tank has water and/or the water & formula mixture in the tank. If your tank is empty, this could be the reason your machine is not spraying. You will need to fill your clean tank again. Reseat the tank and ensure it sits snug on the machine.
Check the suction inlet on the body of the vacuum and clear it of debris if needed. Remove the hose from the base of the machine and remove any debris as needed. If necessary, you may use a broom handle to unclog the hose by pushing through both openings.
Check your hose for any cracks or holes that can cause loss of suction. You may also have a clog in the lower hose. Pull down and at an angle to disconnect. A clog in the main hose could also be the problem.
Locate the brush reset button on the lower back right of the vacuum. Press the button to reset the brushroll To ensure the brush has been reset, plug the vacuum back into the electrical outlet.
Check the door and make sure it is locked in place. Hold the nozzle and insert the nozzle clean out tool in to the thin slot on the end of the nozzle that touches the floor. Clean until free of pet hair or debris. Return the nozzle back to the foot of the machine.
In Line Filter Assembly (includes Cap & Filter) for ProHeat 2X Upright Carpet Cleaners (equipped with In Line Filters) and Lift-Off Upright Carpet Cleaners. Fits in the top portion of the foot of the Carpet Cleaner, under where the Dirty Water Tank sits on the foot.
Your dirty water tank may not be secured tightly. Check the rubber tab on the dirty water tank and press firmly on all edges to secure it tightly. The accessory hose door also needs to be closed securely. Check the door and make sure it is locked in place.

Is the seal on the valve at the bottom of the bottle, it has to be on that and not just sitting in the hole. You might try running a mix of water and vinegar thru it, maybe it is clogged up.

FYI – I filled the cleaning fluid container and after trying to clean the carpet, it did empty out but the carpet isn’t wet. Any tips? The manual doesn’t help.
