1. Motorized Brush Head. Sometimes called the “power nozzle,” this large attachment has a rotating brush to clean carpets more like an upright.
A Revolving Brush Roll Greatly Enhances Carpet Cleaning

Vacuum cleaners specifically designed to clean carpeted floors have motor or turbine driven revolving brush rolls with rows of bristles and sometimes beater bars as well. These brush rolls revolve at a very high speed, agitating the carpet fibers in the process.

On average a brushroll should be replaced every year or two. If you`re not sure if the vacuum is working as good as it could or should be, replacing the brushroll can be an easy fix .
Brushes. According to iRobot, brushes should be replaced every 6-12 months. Robot vacuums like the iRobot Roomba j7+ have multiple brushes that allow it to clean.
Use the dust brush attachment – close the blind slats so they lie flat and vacuum. Reverse the blinds so that the slats are lying the other way and repeat. Repeat monthly or as needed. Use the upholstery attachment on mattresses and fabric surfaces.
A worn brush can result in a damaged or destroyed armature as well, which will cost you significantly more than a new carbon brush. By instituting some quick, regular check-ups, you can replace brushes before they cause problems.
A carpet beater bar is essentially a floor nozzle for a vacuum equipped with a rotating beater bar that spins while the vacuum is in use. By spinning, it agitates the carpet and loosens any lead dust that might be stuck in carpet fibers.
Rotary brushes are typically available in three designs: cylindrical, wheel-shaped, and cup-shaped brushes.
Motorized brush helps capture embedded dirt and pet hair. 14.4 Lithium-Ion Powered Battery. Crevice tool cleans hard to reach areas and tight spaces where pet messes collect. Upholstery tool cleans soft surfaces and furniture while felt on the tool attracts hair.
A quality roller should last up to 5 cycles before shedding. You can reuse it without affecting the quality of the paint application and over time it will end up paying for itself.
A vacuum cleaner`s brush roller also called the beater bar assists in cleaning your carpets and depending on your vacuum model, a variety of floors. The brush roller is usually located under the vacuum cleaner and some in the attachment tool.
Cleaning your vacuum after every use

For bagless vacuum cleaners, empty the dust bin, and clean the cleaning head and brush rollers. You can remove tangled hair and threads from the roller head with scissors. If the floor head has a brush roller, you can usually remove it for easy cleaning.

The typical combination vacuum head design features a retractable brush so you can vacuum different flooring without needing to change the attachment mid-way through vacuuming.
Roller brush is not spinning

Check to make sure the vacuum is switched to the correct mode. The switch should be in the Power and Brushroll mode to make the roller spin. If it is in just the power mode the roller will not move. The brushroll indicator light should be green when working.

If your brush head has lost effectiveness, it may leave plaque behind and can even hurt your gums. The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends that you replace your toothbrush head approximately every three to four months (around 90 days) to prevent bacteria from building up on the bristles.
The brush roll or its bearings may be clogged with hair, threads or dirt. Make sure they are clean and the roll spins. The belt may also have slipped because it was loose. Check the fit of the new belt when it is installed.
How often you should replace your hairbrush can vary depending on the type of brush and how you care for it, but a general rule of thumb is about every six months. You can tell it`s time to say goodbye by inspecting your brush when you clean it each month.
In some models the vacuum head contains an electrically powered brush roller. In other models no brush roller or power is present. Canister vacuums have become a popular replacement for back pack style vacuums since they have similar components.
When the brushes are up you can get nice and close to carpeted floors and suck up all the dust and nasties hidden in the fibres. If you have hard floors to clean – especially wooden ones – flip the switch and drop the felt and brushes into place. They will help protect your floor being scratched by the vacuum cleaner!
On average, a well-maintained robotic vacuum cleaner can last up to 4-6 years, but some models may last even longer.
