Should the brush not rotate freely there may be debris tangled around the ends of the brush, carefully remove any obstructions or replace the brush with a new one. We recommend that you fit a new belt and brush once per year to keep your Reactive vacuum working efficiently.
After a year or so, you may need to replace your vacuum`s beater brush. If the bristles seem to be squished, broken or are varying heights, it`s time to replace the brush. These can be found online with the vacuum`s brand and model of your vacuum cleaner.
To fix a clog in the hose, feed one end into a garbage bag, and poke the other end with the back of a mop pole, until you push the clog material out into the garbage bag. To fix a clog in the vacuum, whether it is a canister or bag, use your finger to feel for a clog. Pull as much of it out as you can and discard.

ANSWER : When you removed the brush roller dod you examine the end of the actual roller that is opposite from the removal opening. There is a gear that the roller fits over that may have gotten stripped when it became tangled. Check that the gear has not rounded off and look inside the roller bar to see if the area where the gear fits into may have gotten stripped as well. You might try to operate the vacuum without the roller brush installed for a few seconds just to see if the gear turns. When I say gear, it is actually a somall “post” about 1-2″ long that the roller brush fits over. Hope this helps!

My model F5906-900 — problem is the brushes have stoped working… I pulled the brush assembly out by holding the two tabs, and all seems clean and the brush assembly rotates easly… onced the brush assembly is removed. How can I get the brushed going??? it is a good machine, but the brush options is important too it’s ab
ANSWER : (1) Assure the Brush Control on the hood is NOT set to the OFF position.
.(2) Remove the brush assembly by pulling/unlatching it from base on each side.
.(3) Does one of the brushes have the drive pin present? It should be about ¼ inch square, and two inches long. It attaches the brushes to the drive mechanism.

Dyson dc07 The rotating brush on the bottom of my vacuum was filled with strings. I removed the brush by undoing all yellow plastic screws from plate. Removed all strings and replaced as best I could and it was hard to get the brush back in and the belt around it. I dont have my manual but it fits so it should be correct….? Right? No, not true, because when I turn it on and try to and vacuum (by lower canister with foot release) it makes that terrible ratching sound). Please help
ANSWER : The loud ratching is a warning to tell you that there is something stopping the roller bar from rotating this is a very common thing lay the machine on the floor front side down take off the bottom plate and just check the belt is in the centre of the belt guide on the brush bar normally if you turn the roller slowly without the bottom plate fitted it will straighten out on its own

Hoover steam vac, brushes won’t rotate, have cleaned filter by brushes, removed brushes and they rotate okay when off steam vac, tried to ajust level for carpet cleaning and brushes still don’t move
ANSWER : There are three things to check when experiencing ‘no spin’ on the cleaning brushes. 1) Check the small pull out filter screen under the machine. It must stay clean for air to pass to the turbine which powers the brushes. 2) Check that the long shaft on the brush assembly is not broken off. This shaft inserts into the turbine motor and powers the brushes. If you’re handy you can replace just the long shaft brush rather than replacing the whole brush assembly. Look for the brush on Ebay 3) If you’re handy you can dissemble the machine and inspect the turbine motor which powers the brushes. In all cases the bearings seize in the turbine. You can often free them up and re-lube them to get more service from them or simply replace the turbine assembly. Don’t throw your Steam Vac out because the brushes no longer turn…you can fix it!

I need to know how to replace a agitator brush for a Hoover Fusion model U5180 900. I was given the vacuum, but without the manuals, so I have no instruction on how to replace the brush. I have already purchased the new brush. Thank you for your help

Brushes stopped The brushes stopped turning while using the cleaner. I removed the brushes to see if the spindle was broken, it wasn’t. I then removed the top plastic cover and checked the switch that engages the brushes; it didn’t seem to be moving correctly. There’s one spring on the switch – should there be two? Or do you think something has broken on the inside? Thanks for any help
ANSWER : Most likely the turbine is bad, it may just be clogged up, you can take it apart and clean it out real good. That may work, but it may not. Sometimes it is best to replace the turbine.

I am trying to replace the belt on my bissell. The directions state “remove the screw that holds the red retainer in place, set red retainer arm and screw aside. I see the red retainer but can not get it out I also can not remove the black brush arm that holds the brush in place. I have tried and can not remove it.
ANSWER : Hi,

Did you release the handle first before you flipped it over?

Have you removed the screw and it still won’t come out, or is it stuck even after the screw is out?
Are you having trouble getting to it?

Please reply back with more info.
