How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

There are two filters on a DC07, the first is the pre-motor filter, which are washable and is recommended by Dyson to be washed at least every 6 months. The pre motor filter also acts as a protection to the motor, trapping the smallest of dirt or debris from travelling to the motor.
The answer to this is – NO you can not. Unlike the pre motor yellow pre filter, which is on the side of the vacuum, the HEPA filter is not washable. It has HEPA media which gets destroyed when the filter is washed or rinsed with water.
Remove all the filters in a worksheet

If you want to completely remove filters, go to the Data tab and click the Filter button, or use the keyboard shortcut Alt+D+F+F.

Wash filters in cold water only

(don`t use detergent or wash in a dishwasher or washing machine). Rinsing under the water supply then gently squeezing the water out of the filter. Repeat until the water runs clear.

I would not use with filter off. This must be a feature of the newer models. This one blows air even with the filter removed. The suction is reduced by a considerable amount.
The Dyson DC07 was introduced in 2001 with brand new Root Cyclone technology.
In our opinion though, it`s definitely not a good idea to wash and reuse a HEPA filter. HEPA filters work by trapping small airborne particles from your room, if you disturb those particles by washing the filter, it`s most likely you will release them back into your environment.
Filters in Dyson air purifiers have been designed to last up to a full year, based on 12 hours of daily use. However, the filter may need replacing earlier depending on environmental conditions. If you live in a highly polluted city, you may find it needs changing sooner.
On most Dyson upright vacuums however, the filter is located underneath the dust cup. To access the filter in this machine, you`ll have to completely remove the dust receptacle and open the cover near the base of the sweeper. If you have a smaller machine like the Dyson ball, the filter is located inside of the ball.
Run cold water through the open end of the filter for approximately 10 seconds. Turn the filter up side down and tap 10 times. Squeeze and twist the filter. Repeat until clean.
We recommend replacing your air purifier filter every 12 months. That`s because over time, filters can get clogged with pollutants, and even let unpleasant odors back into the room.
Extend its life. Dyson cordless vacuum filters are engineered to capture microscopic particles. Over time, these can build up in the filter and reduce performance. By washing it at least once a month, you can help maintain suction power.
Eventually, the filters will be clogged and the air flow going through the machine will be dramatically reduced. If no more air is going through the product, the air won`t be cleaned anymore.
If the filter isn`t clean, it can impact the performance of the vacuum. Dirty vacuum filters can restrict airflow so the suction won`t be as strong.
A Dyson vacuum cleaner has a lifespan of around 10 years. This is considerably longer than most other vacuums. So, if you`re looking for a high-quality vacuum cleaner that will last you for a long time, a Dyson could be a good choice. However, remember that Dyson vacuums are expensive.
To recycle your old machine, you can bring it in to a Dyson Demo store or Dyson Demo Zone within 28 days of purchase of your new Dyson machine, show us the receipt or order confirmation email, and it can be recycled free of charge.
Dyson was designed and patented by a British, had it made in Malaysia (Johor Bahru), – as it is cheaper to make here.
If you see a visible buildup of dust or particles on a HEPA filter (it may look gray or dirty) or observe reduced airflow through your portable air purifier, you may assume that`s an indication the HEPA filter needs cleaning. However, experts say HEPA filters should always be replaced rather than cleaned.
Yes, you can use your Dyson without its HEPA filter. However, it isn`t a great idea because the dust you suck up from the carpet will circulate in the air and then rest on other surfaces so you will have more to clean up later.
Another organisation called ISO defines HEPA as filters that capture at least 99.95 per cent of particles of the most penetrating size (MPPS), which are the particles that are most difficult to capture. Dyson HEPA filters pass both of these tests ensuring that users can be confident they are achieving HEPA performance.
Replace the pre-filter

The pre-filter needs to be replaced every three months. Just slide the tray out of the base, and dump the dirty filter directly in the trash. Try not to let any of the accumulated dust or hair fall off. If the tray is dirty, you can wipe it with a damp cloth or paper towel.

Finding the machine serial number

The serial number and WiFi information can be found in the following locations: On the front of the user guide. On a removable sticker on the front of the purifier. On your purifier, located underneath the filter.

Removing filteron dyson dc07 if stuck
ANSWER : Hi its Darran at Dyson.

We would recommend trying to twist the filter in the casing until it becomes loose. Sometimes, there can be a small build up of dust around the edge of the filter which can make it difficult to remove from the casing.

I hope that this information is useful to you.

Kind regards
Darran

Thanks 🙂
ANSWER : Hi the wand release button is located directly above the the Cylinder release button. The wand release button looks like the picture below. In order to releease the wand you must firstly make sure the Electrical cable is not wrapped up for storage. So unwrap the electrical cable. then find the item as in the picture. Press this button in and at the same time lift the wand. This will realease the wand from the spine of the Dyson. dumfriesdon.jpg

How do you replace the band in a dyson dc07? – Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
ANSWER : DC07s have two belts – one connects the output of the motor to the clutch, the other connects the clutch to the brush bar.
I suspect the belt you are to refering to is the one from the clutch to the brush bar. Unfortuenately the other belt is hidden under a plastic cover, so you cant see if it is okay or not without some dismantling. This cover is not easy to remove and requires a Torx driver to under the securing screws.
Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com, but unless you have access to such a tool, probably time to call Dyson or a Vacuum repairer.
