By far the most common thread size is 1/2″ x 20tpi UNF, but smaller drills can have a 3/8″ or even smaller thread. In some rare cases such as angle drills, very old models or large machines, the chuck may be mounted on a tapered shank or it may even have a proprietary fitting requiring disassembly of the housing.
Drill chucks are spindle-mounted mechanisms that hold a drill or other cutting instrument. They come in keyed, keyless, and hybrid systems, allowing for rapid drill bit changes.

The best thing to do is measure the diameter of the pilot hole/shank and match that diameter with the drill chuck size you have. For example, if your pilot is 11/32″ and your drill chuck is 1/2″, you would need a CK-TKR.
There are three major chuck / drill bit shank types available: SDS & SDS-Plus, SDS Max, and Spline. SDS and SDS-Plus shank types are completely interchangeable.
What does the capacity or size of a chuck mean? The capacity or size of a chuck refers to the maximum size of drill bit that it can hold. So a brace that has a chuck with a 13mm (1/2″) capacity can secure a drill bit with a maximum shank size of 13mm (1/2″).
Chuck keys are used to tighten or loosen drill chucks that are mounted either on hand tools or machining equipment.
A common household rubber band can do the trick. Simply place part of the rubber band over the head of the screw. Insert your screwdriver into the rubber band. Turn the screwdriver counterclockwise to remove the stripped screw.

13mm (1/2 inch) Quite simply, the larger your chuck size, the larger shank diameter it will accept. Generally, if you want to drill holes larger than 20mm in diameter or drill into materials such as metal, then consider purchasing a drill driver with a 13mm chuck, to accommodate larger bits.
Lather chucks are used extensively for holding work for machining operations. The most commonly used lathe chucks are the three jaw universal, four jaw independent, and the collects chuck. Three-jaw universal chuck: Three-jaw universal chuck is used to hold round and hexagonal work.

There are two types of 4 jaw lathe chucks: self-centring lathe chucks and independent lathe chucks. In self-centring 4 jaw chucks, the jaws move in unison when you turn the knurled ring. Because the jaws move together, the workpiece can be clasped quickly into place.
You`ll see a list of numbers from 1 to 10 or 20. These are used to set the clutch to deliver a torque range. The higher the number on the collar, the higher the torque and the larger the fastener that can be driven.
Chuck is a boy`s name of German origin. Pet form of Charles (Old German) “free man”. Originally a nickname from a term for endearment (from Middle English “chukken”, meaning “to chuck”).
A collet chuck is an alternate work holding device that also uses mechanical forces to hold a workpiece. While a collet chuck does not work with the same wide range of workpiece sizes that a jaw chuck can accommodate, it offers advantages in speed, accuracy, and productivity that may be crucial for certain jobs.
Keyless chucks tighten and loosen by simply spinning the chuck`s outer housing. As you`re holding the drill with the chuck pointing away from you, spinning it counterclockwise tightens the jaws around your drill bit, and spinning it clockwise loosens it.
A drill chuck is a clamping device that is attached to the spindle of a drill, cordless drill, compact screwdriver, CNC machine tool or hammer drill and has the task of holding insert tools such as drills, bits and other insert tools.
A screw extractor is a high-strength steel shaft with a square head on one end and reverse tapered cutting screw threads on the other. The square head fits into a T-handle used to turn the extractor. You can also grip and turn the head of the tool with locking pliers.

Dear Sir or Madam, I own a black 23 x 47 x 7 mm Rowenta lighter. It has a screw on bottom that I cannot remove. What is it hiding ? Is this lighter refillable ? Is there a flint to replace ?. I’ve found on your site the following : “By jbbiii on Apr 06, 2009 Father died and left me a Rowenta lighter purchased in Stutgart in 1952. It has a screw on bottom with spring to replace the flint, but I cannot figure out how to open the bottom to replace the cotton wadding which I can see through the hole
ANSWER : Hello
.The flint should be near the striker.Or the thumb roller, usually below it.
.As old as it is you may not see it beacause its worn down.
.
.Maybe taking it to an antique store or a smoke shop would be more helpfull.
.I know with zippos the cover slides off to the top when you hold the 2 nodules in.Which is how you get to the wick.
.The screw at the bottom which does not come out, may be a flame adjustment screw.

Bisell Healthy home vacuum stopped working. The troubleshooting guide said there could be a problem in the connection at the handle. None of the phillips screwdrivers we have seem to work in removing the screw that holds the handle to the vacuum. What size phillips screw driver should we be using? If the screw is stripped, how can we get it out to replace it since it is not easily accessible in the handle?
ANSWER : You should use a p2 size phillips. there is only one screw right in the center that holds the handle assy on. frequently that screw backs out and allows the handle to slide back and loose connection. make sure the handle is tightly pressed in and the center screw is tight. that should fix your problem. let me know if it doesnt

Bissell 7950 ProHeat Self Propelled Carpet cleaner Replacement Pump Belt part 215-0628
ANSWER : Normally, there is a post sticking out of the retainer to remove it. If the post is broken off, then you will have to lift the black arm and wiggle it at the same time and the retainer will pop up so you can remove it. On the belt side, the retainer is fairly large and you can usually get a hold of it with a pair of needle nose pliers. On the other side, the retainer is small and you can lift it out with the pliers by griping it gently using the hole that the screw goes through.

My older Dyson DC14 (the purple one) early model with a clutch on the beater bar belt needs a clutch replacement. The bar has been cleaned and there are no worn or damaged parts so I conclude that the clutch at the motor end of the belt needs to be replaced. I can find the part online but no instructions on how to disassemble the vacuum to get to and replace it. Dysons only advice is to give me the address and phone of the nearest service center. Can you help me?
ANSWER : Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com which has some very useful info on dismantling and repairing Dysons.
.
.Although this site doesnt actually cover the DC14 yet, the DC14 is very similar to the DC07 so as regards dissassembling the machine, and replacing the clutch, my experience is that the DC07 info will enable you to do the job.
