Over time, all batteries are subject to degradation. So if your run time has declined when the machine is not in Max / Boost mode, it might be time to buy a new battery. All our machines come with a 2-year initial warranty that includes the battery.
If you have a paper vacuum filter, it can most likely be shaken out between replacements but it`s not possible to clean it. You just have to replace it according to the manufacturer recommendations. If you have a foam vacuum filter, it can be washed a few times before needing to be replaced.
HEPA, or high efficiency particulate air filters filter out particles as small as 0.3 microns and keep them from being released back into air by your vacuum cleaner`s exhaust. It`s good practice to change your vacuum cleaner`s HEPA filter every 6 months.
The details about your model and serial number can be found on a sticker on the underside of the vacuum. The serial number is printed on the label on the right side of the unit. The serial number is located on the outer right side of the unit.
A Shark product code is made up of four parts. The first part is a series of two or three letters, which lets you know the broad product type. The second part is the model number, which is either three or four digits. Generally speaking, the higher the number, the better (and often more expensive) the device is.
The model number is on the top left of the Bar code. Here is list of some very common positions or areas of the Dyson Vacuum where you will find the model and serial sticker.

How do I know if my HEPA filter is dirty? Open up the air purifier and remove the pre-filter. Your HEPA filter will have heavy clumps of dirt and dust and it`ll look black if it`s dirty. That`s an indication that your filter needs cleaning or replacement.
The minimum standard should be that the manufacturer makes a HEPA claim and states the filtration efficiency and particle size retained, so that you can be sure that it is actually the HEPA standard of 99.97% efficiency capturing particles as small as 0.3 micrometers.
Your serial number
You`ll find it on your machine, on a label that looks like this. Example: 123-CA-A12345 or AB1-CA-A123456. First two fields are required. Example: 123-CA-A12345 or AB1-CA-A123456.
RIDGID is printed on the front of the vacuum. The model number can be found on a silver product identification label on the back of the vacuum`s powerhead assembly.

Unbeknownst to me, someone took the bag out of my Kenmore Progressive vacuum and failed to replace it. I have been vacuuming without a bag for months, and today the vacuum stopped sucking. When I opened up the front to replace the bag, tons of dirt and dust came pouring out. I thoroughly cleaned the vacuum, put in a new bag, but still no sucking power. Just dust coming from the rear vents where one of the filters is. Is the vacuum ruined, or is it a simple solution of buying a new filter?
ANSWER : Sounds like you need to buy a new motor. All that grit and dust will ruin a motor and I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did.

Typically the top filter of which is the sponge is washable but the HEPA filter is not, it can be brushed off and vacuum off with another vacuum, but the best filtration is to replace the HEPA filter and to wash the sponge filter, if the sponge filter get to bad then replace the sponge filter as well. Dirt devil vacuum cleaner–trouble vacuuming dirt and pet hair on carpeting –is the problem with the spinning brush which contacts the floor, not contacting the carpeting?? ANSWER : Take the brush roller off and on the ends are the bearing caps.try to take those off and clean the bearings ,carpet strands and hair will cause that.after you do that make sure the roller turns freely if not then the bearings might be bad and if thats the case you might have to order a new brush rollersome bearing caps unscrew and others pull off

My older Dyson DC14 (the purple one) early model with a clutch on the beater bar belt needs a clutch replacement. The bar has been cleaned and there are no worn or damaged parts so I conclude that the clutch at the motor end of the belt needs to be replaced. I can find the part online but no instructions on how to disassemble the vacuum to get to and replace it. Dysons only advice is to give me the address and phone of the nearest service center. Can you help me?

I was vacuuming and noticed that the bag needed changing. the red light with the ! inside the triangle also came on. When the bag was changed, the vacuum would not restart. The red light came on. Tried the reset button but nothing happened. Tried unplugging and re-plugging in and nothing happened. Replaced all the filters and still it wouldh’t start. So I brought it downstairs and tried one more time to get it to start. it worked! Is there something wrong with the vacuum cleaner? Was it overheat
