Check the active wand, the flexible hose, filter bag and micro-filters, and any on-board attachments that may be clogged. Also remove the brush roller to check for blockages. Inspect the orange trap door on the underside of the power head and remove any debris or blockages.
Brush Shut Off – If an obstruction jams the brush roller, an orange warning light on the power head illuminates and the brush roller stops spinning. This feature prevents the belts from breaking and protects the motor and car- pet from damage.
After years of use, your brush roller may exhibit very little visible wear so gives the impression it is still fit for service. However, don`t be fooled by this (as many people are). The bristles become soft with time with the result that the machine becomes very heavy to push around when in use.

Loose connections will cause your vacuum cleaner to lose suction. Make sure that the dust container, the hose, the tube and the brush are all attached properly. If the problem continues, your vacuum cleaner might have a technical problem. If you suspect this to be the case, contact an authorised service agent.
Should the brush not rotate freely there may be debris tangled around the ends of the brush, carefully remove any obstructions or replace the brush with a new one. We recommend that you fit a new belt and brush once per year to keep your Reactive vacuum working efficiently.
Brush Roller Obstruction Auto Shut-Off. If the brush roller is obstructed, the power head will shut off in three seconds, the amber light located on top of the power head will illuminate, and the brush rollers will stop rotating.

Replace the Brush Belt
If the vacuum is still hard to push, tilt it back far enough that you can inspect the moving brush while the vacuum is running. Be careful to avoid getting too close to the moving parts. If you see that the brush is not turning, that means you will need to replace the brush belt.
If your roller is not spinning, the first step is to remove the roller and free any debris. Refer to your model`s user manual on how to remove the roller from your vacuum head. Debris can also be left on the vacuum head it is important to also clean this area including the sides where the roller brush connects.

Have an older model Electrolux canister model. The electric plug is broken so I got a new plug to put on. When I cut the cord to replace the plug, the dang cord retracted into the unit. So how do I get access to the cord area so i can find the end to the cord!

How to wind cord onto spring loaded retractable cord reel for a Kenmore canister vacuum. There is a metal ‘U’ shaped, spring loaded, piece that fits over the outer aspect of the wheel. If cord needs to get wound on under this metal band I can’t figure it out and the band is like factory sealed onto the wheel. Also. I don’t know which direction to feed the cord onto the wheel

Electric cord won’t retract
ANSWER : Depends on the machine. If its a Sebo K model then usually pulling on the cord will re-automatically retract the cord anyway. Any other brand and it will need to be replaced by a qualified repair.

Retractable power cord
ANSWER : JUST LIFT OFF THE TOP HALF. CAREFULLY REACH IN FROM THE LEFT SIDE AND DISCONNECT THE CLEAR PLASTIC HOSE THAT IS ATTACHED TO THE “DIAL” ON TOP OF THE MACHINE. THEN LAY THE TOP HALF OF THE MACHINE TO THE RIGHT. DON’T DISCONNECT ANY WIRES. YOU’LL HAVE TO HAVE A NEW CORD WINDER (LOOK ON E-BAY). .The question I have is it the Electrolux or the Royal cordwinder, if the cordwinder is sprung you may have to get a new one or a good used one, it’s been a while since I have done a cordwinder and I have seen it done, but I know when you remove the cordwinder you need to lock in the spring so that it does not loose it tension and re-coil ability. You may want to ask your local vac dealer to see if you need to repair or replace. The power cord is stuck part way out – it seems to have slipped over the edge of the reel inside the machine, so it won’t pull out and it won’t retract. Pulling hard does no good.

Yes, pulling hard is not a good idea. You need to use techniques to get it out.
Get a flat Phillips screw driver, use it to bring it out. Or use a screw drive to disassemble the part that that went inside the machine. If that’s not an easy task, then you might disassemble the whole unit so that it can be renove easily.
But you still need to apply some force to bring out the stuck power cord, don’t apply too much force, but some force is needs.
You can send me the picture of the stuck part, so that I can see what I am dealing with if the above is not helpful.
