Brush Roller Obstruction – Auto Shut-Off.

If the brush roller is obstructed, the machine will shut off and the red „CHECK BRUSH“ light located on top of the power head will flash.

Check the active wand, the flexible hose, filter bag and micro-filters, and any on-board attachments that may be clogged. Also remove the brush roller to check for blockages. Inspect the orange trap door on the underside of the power head and remove any debris or blockages.
Brush Shut Off – If an obstruction jams the brush roller, an orange warning light on the power head illuminates and the brush roller stops spinning. This feature prevents the belts from breaking and protects the motor and car- pet from damage.
If your lights flicker or dim whenever you turn on an appliance (e.g. a washing machine, vacuum cleaner, or microwave) then you`re beginning to overload your circuit. Each home electrical circuit has a limit on just how much power it can draw.
If a malfunction occurs during the cleaning process, the ring-shaped indicator of the device will flash rapidly in red and the voice message will turn on.
Most of the time, a solid red light means there`s something wrong with your vacuum`s main brush roll, meaning the brush isn`t spinning correctly. In many cases, a bogged-down brush roll simply won`t spin at all.
SEBO vacuum filters should be changed after every 10 to 20 bags, depending upon use time & the type of debris material collected by the vacuum. However please trust your visual inspection, if you see that a filter is excessively dirty or the bags appears to be quite full, do not hesitate to change it.
There are four primary culprits of vacuum cleaner odors. They are pet hair, mold, a burned belt, and too much dirt, Oh So Spotless reports. Pet hair, dander, and any attached urine all smell outside the vacuum and continue to smell once inside.
Clog located in the vacuum hose

Turn the unit on and feel the suction at the end of the hose handle. If there is no or low suction, then the clog is in the hose. You can remove the clog by running a long, stiff object through the hose, such as a butter knife, starting at the wall end.

Plugged vacuum hoses are sometimes the reason for a loss in suction. Hoses can get clogged with hair, dust bunnies, string, or anything else that can`t pass through the other end of the hose. Airways inside the machine should be looked at as well. Wherever there is an air passage, check it.
If there is a clog in the vacuum, you won`t have good suction and the vacuum won`t work. The clog can be in the vacuum head, the hose or where the hose meets the actual vacuum.

Sebo x1.1 fitted with new bag and filter but red bag check light still comes on and then machine shuts off. Any ideas how to remedy?
ANSWER : Without doubt this indicates that there’s a blockage somewhere. The two easiest places to look are: 1. on the underside of the machine there’s an inspection flap – check in there; 2. remove the flexible hose completely from the machine at both ends – check in the hose itself, and where it enters the machine near the handle .  The only other place to look is where the base connects to the bag compartment – to check there, you need to separate those two parts by pressing the button at bottom front of bag compartment and pulling the base away (this can be difficult – four hands would be useful – but once you’re pressing that button, nothing else other than friction is holding the parts together). Once the parts are separated, check every orifice you can see (the parts just push back together again)..
.I think that covers it.  Good luck, and please remember to rate this response.

Electrolux Epic 6500SR Full Bag sensor working, Does not Reset properly
ANSWER : The problem was a sticking switch that was not being reset. The vacuum on/off switch mechanism is comprised of two switches. One is the main switch that turns the vacuum on and off. The second is a shut off switch that gets tripped when the full bag sensor is engaged. This second switch is supposed to get reset when you push the on/off switch on the outside of the machine. The full bag shutoff switch was stiff and it, therefore, was taking a couple of presses of the on/off switch to move the shutoff switch back into the running position.

Unbeknownst to me, someone took the bag out of my Kenmore Progressive vacuum and failed to replace it. I have been vacuuming without a bag for months, and today the vacuum stopped sucking. When I opened up the front to replace the bag, tons of dirt and dust came pouring out. I thoroughly cleaned the vacuum, put in a new bag, but still no sucking power. Just dust coming from the rear vents where one of the filters is. Is the vacuum ruined, or is it a simple solution of buying a new filter?
ANSWER : Sounds like you need to buy a new motor. All that grit and dust will ruin a motor and I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did.
.This is where a vacuum that won’t run without a bag would have been nice. (Aerus for one)

When I flip the switch on my sebo x1 upright, a red light comes to the brush and bag icons. However, I cleaned out the hose and checked to make sure there is no obstruction from the brush to the hose also, or from the hose to the bag. It is clear that juice is coming to the vacuum, but there is no sign of life except the two red lights.
ANSWER : Thanks for contacting fixya. You should pull out the bag and reset the machine. You should take all the user replaceable items. And turn it on. You will get lot of errors. Then turn the machine off. Put back all the accessories and the bag. Turn you machine on. This will solve your problem.

While vacuuming the red light for the bag of the vacuum came on and the vacuum stopped. The bag was no where near full so I replaced it with a new bag – same problem. It vaccumes for a minute or then stops with bag light on. It is the correct bag for the machine – so what’s the problem?
ANSWER : I’m assuming this is the Epic 6500 or similar model.
.Detach the hose, turn vacuum on. If it runs, place palm of hand against inport hole. If it shuts off the problem is with either the control valve setting or the control valve assembly itself.
.For cvs, turn dial on top of vacuum all the way to the largest dot, and try above test again. If that doesn’t work, then it’s the CVA. It needs to be cleaned or replaced, which is an in shop job. Fro repair, take it to the nearest Aerus Electrolux store. I recommend a full clean and service to remove any dust/dirt from the motor, fan assembly, and other internal parts.
.
.Another problem, which relates to the dial setting, is that fine dust will quickly clog the pores of the bag, resulting in the machine “thinking” the bag is full. Turning the dial to the proper setting helps get the bag fuller. The middle setting is the normal setting, and is for areas without fine dust and sand.

Model 2100 canister: Red light comes on to indicate bag is full and machine shuts off. The bag is empty…when I readjust bag, machine will start up again but shut down shortly.

I have the electrolux guardian-My full bag light indicater is coming on even with a new bag. It gets worst-the machine will cut off when I insert the hose or put my hand over the hole where the hose goes. I changed the filter on the back and put in a new bag. Help please 🙂

Same Shut Off Problem as Hamster71
ANSWER : The part that you call the particle size sensetivity adjuster is bad. There are 2 seals in the assembly, the lower seal is slipping out of place because the plastic lip which keeps it in place is broken. Split housings and replace part. This machine is alot of work to take appart and get back together correctly. Might want to bring to local vac shop. good luck.
