Euro-Pro Shark SC-505 Handheld Steam Vacuum\015 I got this hand-held Shark steamer from a garage sale. They said it works. It does heat and makes steam but has no pressure, so it’s like trying to clean with a tea kettle of steaming water. I wonder if there is a way to clear the lines inside the unit if that could be the problem. There was some mineral (or something) particles in the water resovour which I rinsed out (I think it says not to use vinegar for cleaning). thanks\015

How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

The Cleaning Nozzle is clogged

Calcium and other minerals may build up in the nozzle, so you may need to clean the nozzle in order to produce steam. To do this, either use the nozzle cleaner provided with the Steam Pocket Mop, or use a straightened-out paper clip.

Simply switch between 2 automatic steam settings to suit the task in hand. LOW is perfect for dealing with light dirt and everyday messes, while HIGH is designed to power through high-traffic or hard-to-clean areas. Simply fill the 500ml capacity water tank to get started, with steam ready to go in just 30 seconds.
First, check to make sure the unit is plugged in and is in a working outlet. Next, check to make sure there is water in the tank. It is very important to make sure you are ONLY using water to fill the tank. Other solutions may cause breakdown of the gasket and/or other parts of the machine.
We would like to let you know that you would need to use water with our steam mops. If the unit is used without water it can damage the unit.
check the cap of the water tank to make sure it is correctly and securely attached to the water tank. check your water tank to make sure it is securely and correctly fitted in to the body of the garment steamer – incorrect placement of the water tank can block water from feeding in to the body and boiler of the steamer.
Too Much Water:

Your steam cleaner producing more water than steam is likely to be caused by one of three things: 1) The water tank being overfilled. 2) The controller not being set to steam mode. 3) The steam cleaner not reaching its required temperature.

Have you ever noticed an unsightly wrinkle or crease on your clothes just before you`re about to leave for work? Instead of removing the offending garment and ironing it, a quick blast of steam could do the trick. Of course, you should always check the label before cleaning any item of clothing with steam.
Fill the Tank With Vinegar: Fill the water tank with distilled white vinegar or cleaning vinegar. Allow the vinegar to sit in the tank for at least 30 minutes (up to two hours is best) to help break apart the limescale and mineral deposits. Expel the Vinegar: Turn on the steamer and choose the highest heat setting.
We have had some customers who have had their steam cleaners for 5-8 years and are still going strong. For less expensive models like the steam mops or handhelds, you should probably expect more like 3-6 years of consistent use.
If you`re pondering whether to exfoliate before or after steaming face, the answer is always to wait until after. This is because skin steaming loosens up a lot of buildup in your pores, and exfoliating can make removing those impurities much easier. Drape a towel over your face and pat it dry.
Our testing has found that all steam mops remove stains fairly well, with marginal differences, and are likely slightly better than a regular mop and bucket due to the heat and vapour produced by the steam.
Steaming tips

Bring the water to a rolling boil (bubbles all over), and add food (fish, vegetables, meat) to the steamer in a single layer. The steamer should be about 2.5cm above the boiling water, and the steamer should be covered with a tight-fitting lid to retain the heat.

Upon the first use of your steam mop or first use after refilling the water tank, the pump may make a knocking sound. This is normal and should diminish after a few seconds. If the sound continues if may be because the metal tube is not reaching the water in the tank.
Soap only lifts dirt and oil into water, making them suspend in water. Therefore, the more soap you use, the more your mop gets saturated with dirt. So, if you do not remove all the soapy water from the floor, the dirt remains, forming streaks on the floor.
Sticky floors after steam mopping are often the result of residue from cleaning products that had been used on the floor. Using a dirty mop pad also can cause sticky floors.
Safe & Gentle

Unlike ironing a steamer doesn`t make physical contact with your clothing. It avoids any risk of burning or unintented creasing. Even your delicates can withstand the heat without causing any damage. Garment steaming is safe on wool, silk, lace and other delicate fabrics.

To prolong the life of your steam mop, we recommend using distilled water in the tank. Make sure you only add water to the tank – chemicals or cleaning solutions (including vinegar) may damage the steam mop and could be unsafe. For best results, sweep or vacuum your floors prior to cleaning with your steam mop.
Get this; steam cleaning is effective at eliminating E. coli, listeria, and even salmonella. Because steaming only uses the power of heat and water, it is the safest method of cleaning clothes, if the heat level stays around 200 degrees.
#1 – Your clothes steamer should touch your garments

To get the most wrinkles out of your clothes, you should hold the plate of your garment steamer against your clothes.

A: Hey A. McStyle, As a precaution and to extend the life of your steam mop, we do recommend using distilled water in all of our steam products, especially for folks with naturally hard water, but if you have soft water at home, that should be fine as well.
Shark Pocket will not make steam

Check that your water tank is full, if you find it is empty, add water. Also check that the tank is free of any cracks or holes that could cause water to leak, and that the tank is properly seated in the device`s housing.

It is safe to use on many different types of flooring

The mop heats up fast and is easy to handle. I used this Shark steam mop on my ceramic kitchen floors, but it is also rated for use on sealed hardwood floors, marble, and stone tile.

Using the Shark Steam Mop is pretty straightforward. First, attach the mop pad to the mophead, then fill the reservoir with water using the filling flask. Once the steam mop is plugged in, it takes about 20 seconds for the steam to build up, and you`ll hear the mop hissing.
What can`t I steam clean? Steam can warp unsealed floors, melt plastic, and cause laminate floors to swell. Don`t steam clean these surfaces. Other surfaces on the do-not-clean list: cold windows, unglazed tile, those covered in water-based paint, and delicate surfaces.

My Europro shark steam mop won’t steam, light on but no steam.
ANSWER : Hard water deposits. I ran some white vinegar through mine, like a coffee maker, and it worked for a while, but clogged again. So I unplugged it, let it cool and turned it over in the bathtub and squirted a small amount of Lime-Away into the hole where the steam comes out. Let it soak for 5- 10 minutes and it is working like is is brand new.
