How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

Thermoelectric coolers are coolers that don`t utilize ice to keep their items cold. Instead, they are plugged into a power source and are kept cold thanks to the Peltier Effect (more on that below). This type of approach means that you can enjoy an extended cooling performance that a traditional cooler can`t match.
A voltage is applied across joined conductors to create an electric current. When the current flows through the junctions of the two conductors, heat is removed at one junction and cooling occurs. Heat is deposited at the other junction. The main application of the Peltier effect is cooling.
First check if the condenser coils are dirty and clean if needed. Dirty condenser coils can cause the compressor to overheat and not work properly. Check if the refrigerant is undercharged or overcharged and recharge if needed. Check if there is a defect with the overload protector.
Rather than using ice to keep food fresh, a 12v cooler has a motor that generates cold air. Most of these coolers run on compressors and use fans to circulate the cold air within the cooler box. But all have thick insulated walls to keep cool temps and hot air out.
Coolers primarily use different types of foam insulation. Cheaper hard coolers use styrofoam (extruded polystyrene) while premium hard coolers like Grizzly or Kenai use heavier but more effective polyurethane.
Enter portable electric coolers. An electric cooler can keep food and drinks chilled and even frozen, no ice required. They`re extremely handy for road trips, car camping, hunting trips, and more.
Coolant. One of the often forgotten aspects of electric car maintenance is coolant. It`s used in the car`s thermal management system to help maintain a constant temperature for the battery and some other electrical components. As a result, it`s very important.
Fill your cooler with ice. Sprinkle the ice with rock salt or ice cream salt. Salted water has a lower freezing point than pure water, so the ice temperature inside the cooler drops. Mix up the salted ice and add bottles or cans of your favorite beverages.
Humidity levels over 50% will diminish the cooling performance of your cooler, humidity levels over 70% will provide virtually no cooling. Check the humidity level in your area. If the humidity level is high, it is likely that the evaporative cooler is not faulty, but rather may not be well-suited for the environment.
Ice in a cooler will last from 12 hours to 7 days. Premium hard coolers will last the longest at up to 7 days (or more). Some soft and styrofoam coolers will keep ice for less than 24 hours. Ice will keep in most hard coolers for 2 to 6 days.
Take a paper towel, napkin or even newspaper and soak it with water. Wrap the wet paper around the bottle or can as if you were making papier-mâché. Once the bottle is wrapped, simply leave it in a shady spot for 20 to 30 minutes for a chilled drink. This method works especially well on a windy day.
A 12v thermoelectric cooler can only cool 40 degrees Fahrenheit or below the ambient temperature. It can work well in colder climates but is generally inefficient if the outside temperature is above 77 degrees.
Electric Air Cooler Voltage: 230 Volt (V)
Polyurethane foam is a much denser material than other foams like polyethylene foam or styrofoam since the foam has smaller air bubbles. With the denser foam the cooler becomes much more heavy and in turn, much more durable.
Coolers made from durable plastics are well-suited to outdoor events. They typically come equipped with an easy carrying handle or wheels. Aluminum and stainless steel are the most popular metals for coolers. This style is heavy to carry, but great for large events like family reunions or weddings.
Most Koolatron thermoelectric coolers consume 4.5 amps or 54 watts of power at 12 volts or 1 amp = 54 watts at 120 volts.
Unlike air conditioners, coolers require proper ventilation in the room in order to function at their best. Since they work on the principle of evaporative cooling, coolers need water and fresh air to provide efficient cooling.
The cooling system of the Model S`s battery pack adopts a liquid cooling system with serpentine-shaped cooling pipes. The mixture of water-ethylene glycol is passed through the pack [32] .
Battery electric cars have no engine but they still have coolant keep that big battery from doing what it naturally wants to do: catch fire. Coolant system-flush intervals vary widely, from every four years or 50,000 miles for a Tesla Model 3, to every 150,000 miles for a Chevy Bolt.
Yes, Teslas do require coolant. The coolant is used to regulate the temperature of the battery and the electronics in the car. Tesla recommends checking the coolant level every 12 months or 20,000 km, whichever comes first.
Some electric cars already come equipped with battery cooling systems that help regulate the battery`s temperature.
However, the industry standard typically dictates that the optimal temperatures should be between 35 and 38 degrees for commercial refrigerators and as low as -15 degrees for freezers. There are many other factors that might dictate the appropriate temperature for commercial beverage refrigerators.
A beverage cooler temperature range is between 39°F and 65°F, and you can adjust and set the temperature to suit your needs.
The water inside the water cooler is fed into a reservoir, where it is cooled using a refrigerant. A refrigerant is a cooling medium that is circulated in pipes that are located close to the reservoir in the water cooler.

My dyson d14 animal keeps cutting in and out. When it’s on, the hole above where the filter is, keeps making a loud suction noise and it won’t clean up hair and dirt.
ANSWER : Vacuum Cleaners require AIr-Flow. Your machine is not getting any air-flow. The noise you hear is a valve opening up to prevent your machine from overheating and burning out the motor.
You probably have an obstruction somewhere in the machine. Dysons are kind of known for that in the vacuum cleaner world.
Check all air channels and clean them out. If that fixes the problem you still might have issues that caused it to clog up.

I posted the part second because it takes 24 hours to complete it.
Be sure you wash your Washable Pre-filter. It needs to dry for 24 hours. Never put it back in the machine wet.

Once it is completely dry reinstall the pre-filter and your machine should be back to normal operating functions.

Let me know f this helps.

My roomba keeps telling me “error and to clean the brushes. I have cleaned the brushes and when I turn the roomba back on it keeps clicking underneath the roomba. I’m not sure what else to do.
ANSWER : I had the identical problem. I cleaned the brush but the problem persisted. I then put in a new brush that was provided in the box and the problem vanished. I have since used the cleaning tool on the old brush and will try and reinstall it to see if my cleaning worked. In any case a new brush will do the job.

The agitator on my kenmore progressive vacuum won’t keep going. It keeps stopping while vacuuming.
ANSWER : This sounds like the belt that drives the beater bar on the vacuum. The beater bar bearings and brushes could be plugged with debris and/or the belt is simply worn out and needs to be replaced. Unplug the vacuum, turn it over and look for clogging.
.
.If you can’t see any, then you may need to remove the bottom plate of the vacuum and clean out and/or replace the drive belt and clean the area. These belts and other components are usually available at Sears Hardware or main stores. Make sure you get the correct belt for your vacuum.
.
.If the beater bar brushes are substantially worn, it would also be a good idea to replace the beater bar as well. These parts wear out after a few years. Try to work on the unit in a location that is well ventilated and the debris doesn’t make a mess inside your house.

Vacuum Problem My dirt devil vacuum is losing suction and keeps clogging. All the dirt keeps sticking to the screen by the filter and then it would stop working. Also the hose does not have a strong suction power either. So what can I do?
ANSWER : The Bissell can have several filters in it, depending on the model. Some have a round hepa filter that is covered with a foam sleeve. This filter is located at the bottom of the dirt cup. Others have a foam filter that is located under the dirt cup in a pull out drawer. Also, they can have a cylindrical separator above the dirt cup which can be removed and washed. They are usually a blue plastic and you reach in and turn it a 1/4 turn counter-clockwise to remove. If your machine has the hepa filter, when you remove the dirt cup, the filter is at the bottom and you turn the bottom 1/4 turn and the clear housing will come off to access the filter. You should also check the small filter on the machine just below where the cup sits. This will only be there if your machine has the hepa filter on it.

Powerhead woes Drive belt for power head beater brush on Hoover S3755 keeps jumping off drive motor shaft when vacuuming low pile carpets like oriental rugs unless minimal suction is used. Any tricks to keeping the belt in place other than this?
ANSWER : I’ve had my Hoover S3755 for about 2 years and loved it, at least until the last couple of months when the “belt slipping off” problem started. I changed the belt and the vacuum would work for a little while then the belt would come off again. I put on a new belt again and within minutes the belt had slipped off. I took it to my local vacuum repair about 4:00 in the afternoon. By 4:45 I got a call from the repairman that he’d fixed my vacuum! What did he do? He put a different belt on it. He put a Rainbow belt on my Hoover that’s thicker and doesn’t have as much “give” as the Hoover belt. It’s also a little bit wider than the Hoover belt. Now when the brush slows or stops at a carpet edge the belt doesn’t slide off.
