Dyson DC07 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

One of the first things to do when your Dyson vacuum cleaner keeps starting and stopping is to empty the bin. It may be full, or the machine may simply perceive it as too full to continue working. Dyson vacuum cleaners require constant airflow through them to work, and a full bin can stop this from happening.
If you find that your machine is turning off intermittently, the filter in your vacuum is most likely full and covering the ventilation system. Remove the filter, then empty and wash it. Allow the filter to dry for at least 24 hours, or until it is completely dry.
The DC07, released in 2001 was the first implementation of Root Cyclone technology into a cleaner.
As for battery life, the V7 runs for up to 30 minutes on powerful mode. The V6 lasts for 20 minutes and the V8 runs for up to 40 minutes. Crank the cordless vacuum cleaners to “Max” mode and the V7 will last you a mere 6mins, the same as the V6 and a little behind the V8, which lasts a minute longer at seven minutes.
The simplest place to start: empty your dirt container. Debris in the main cyclone passage will cut suction rapidly. If the container was really full, you should also check the filters because they can get loaded with dust if the Dirt container is too full. Test the vacuum, and see if the suction is back.
There are two filters in a Dyson DC04, the first being the pre-motor filter which can be found at the top of the removable bin and motor unit. This filter can be separated and should be cleaned regularly or whenever it gets dirty, as a dirty or clogged filter can lead to performance and suction issues.
Check the LED light to determine the battery level. A solid blue light indicates that the machine is in normal operating mode. A flashing blue light indicates that there is no power, and the battery needs to be charged for a minimum of 3.5 hours.
Check that the vacuum cleaner is plugged into a working power outlet and that fuses and breakers don`t need resetting. An activated thermal cut-out due to a blockage is the next most likely cause of the problem. Check for blockages in the hose and filters, and remove any obstructions that you find.
Press and hold the power button on the machine and the remote together for 10 seconds. The LED screen will count down from 10. Once this count down has been completed, the machine will have been reset.
A Dyson vacuum cleaner has a lifespan of around 10 years. This is considerably longer than most other vacuums. So, if you`re looking for a high-quality vacuum cleaner that will last you for a long time, a Dyson could be a good choice. However, remember that Dyson vacuums are expensive.
Adrienne So called the V11 a “dream vac” in her review (8/10, WIRED Recommends), but, like a dream, it now exists only in memory. Dyson discontinued the V11 as subsequent top-of-the-line models dethroned it. Even if you find it for sale for $700, you may as well pay the same money for a newer V15.
For example, a V6 battery for V6 models, V7 battery for V7 models, etc. You can`t mix those or use them on a different model.
The battery light:

Low level of charge. Empty, needs recharging. A flashing red light indicates that there is a fault, please call the Dyson Helpline. A solid red light indicates that there is a fault, please call the Dyson Helpline.

20 times if it`s over 12 that means you got a bad battery. so you know hit that power button count. how many times that red light blinks.
Safe management system. Our unique battery-saving trigger helps maximize run time – only using power when you need it. It ensures the battery does not overheat or overcharge and catch fire.
To reset the Brush bar press the Brush bar control button twice or switch the machine off and back on.
Clog located in the vacuum hose

Turn the unit on and feel the suction at the end of the hose handle. If there is no or low suction, then the clog is in the hose. You can remove the clog by running a long, stiff object through the hose, such as a butter knife, starting at the wall end.

Description. This genuine Dyson vacuum part is the reset switch for the Dyson DC24 and D25 uprights. This switch needs to be activated if you experience a power surge while vacuuming, and your vacuum turns off as a result.
To reset the machine, turn the power off (using either the power button on the remote or the Main body), wait 60 seconds and then turn back on.
Reset the machine without the app

Press and hold the `Standby ON/OFF` button on the purifier for longer than 20 seconds. The WiFi symbol will flash alternately between white and green to indicate that your network setting shave been removed.

5,126. That`s how many failures James Dyson went through before finding the winning prototype for his first vacuum cleaner. Five thousand — one hundred — twenty-six! That meant four years of developing the product, going deep into debt and putting up his house as collateral to the bank loan.
Dyson invested £2.5 billion in research and development.

While you might feel that this is the reason their products are expensive, you`re highly mistaken. This investment was mainly to accommodate a centre for their 1,200 employees, 22 laboratories, prototyping space, and areas for collaborative work.

No Suction I get great suction in the hose, but when I plug the hose back into the unit, there is no suction and the air flow indicator line goes completely red. I've changed the bag and filters. We have a dyson dc 07 animal the machine was working fine then switched off after returning to the machine minutes later it wouldnt switch on, i removed on off switch cover and used a short piece of wire across the brown wires flicked the wall switch and it worked, aha i thought faulty switch aquired a new one to no avail and now even the short piece of wire trick doesnt work, has the motor died do you think, it wasnt over heating or making strange noises prior to refusing to work
ANSWER : It could be the motor. I’m having to replace the brushes on my DC 05. It appears that you can only get brushes for the YDK motors in the DYSON, not the Panasonic motor. Which might be saying something about the YDK motors. What happens is that the carbon brushes wear down which is normal. However, the contact wire from the brush to its connector is set so that when the brush wears down, the wire is short enough to stop the spring etc from damaging the commutator. The end result is that you get an intermittent operation of the motor before it finally dies.
.I believe all the DYSONs come with the option of both motors and you cannot really tell which motor you have until you take the thing to bits. You also cannot change motors without changing various other parts on the hoover. On my DC 05 the writing on the YDK motor tells you which one it is.
.This website www. tasweb.org ,select the DC 05 option and scroll down tells you how to take the thing to bits. A search on google etc for your DC 07 may give similar results. Best of luck!

Clogged hose… I have a clog in my hose, probably a sock, I have pushed it through to the hard plastic handle end of the hose, help! can the plastic handle wand be disconnected from the hose to remove the clog??? Thank you
ANSWER : Hi!
.
.Low suction, poor pickup, or no suction may be due to a clog in the vacuum cleaner. If you notice a change in the sound of the motor or a reduction in the spinning action in the Dirt Container, check for clogs. Unplug cleaner from electrical outlet. Empty Dirt Container. Check Upper Tank and Louvers for build up or clogs. Check to make sure Louvers are installed correctly. To unlock the Louvers, grasp the rim and turn toward the left. Pull straight down to remove. If the Louvers are missing or not locked into place, check and clear the tube in the center of the Dirt Container. Remove the Twist ‘n Snap Hose from the vacuum by turning to the left. Check the Suction Inlet, Hose and Hose Wand for clogs. Remove any clogs from the hose using a long, narrow object. Check the Foot Hose for clogs. If needed, remove the screw attaching the Hose Wand Base to the vacuum. Straighten the Foot Hose and unclog with a long, narrow object. If the clog persists, then check the Rotating Floor Brush the Air Passageway for obstructions.

Bissell 37604 Bagless Upright Vacuum. Hose keeps clogging every time I vacuum. Is there a way to prevent this?
I am ready to buy a new vacuum, but it does do a great job picking up hair…until it clogs. It clogs at top of hose. Could the hose be kinked? It does not look like it.
ANSWER : That is a defect in the design of that style of vacuum. I went back to my old vac because I got so tired of having to unstop it. The sharp turns in the hose and the molded plastic causes it. Find one without the turns.
