How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

Our testing has found that all steam mops remove stains fairly well, with marginal differences, and are likely slightly better than a regular mop and bucket due to the heat and vapour produced by the steam.
How Do Steam Cleaners Work? All steam cleaners function pretty much the same. Once turned on, water is heated beyond the boiling point and the heated vapor comes out of an attachment. This pressurized water vapor not only loosens dirt, it also removes allergens and bacteria, kills mold, dust mites and even bed bugs.
What can`t I steam clean? Steam can warp unsealed floors, melt plastic, and cause laminate floors to swell. Don`t steam clean these surfaces. Other surfaces on the do-not-clean list: cold windows, unglazed tile, those covered in water-based paint, and delicate surfaces.
Steam mopping over a painted surface is risky, even if the paint layer is sealed. The heat from the steam can cause bubbles beneath the paint, which may then peel. Best to avoid steam mopping on all painted floor surfaces.
A small household, may only need their carpet steam cleaned once every 12 months, whereas a family home with young children and pets may require having carpet steam cleaned every 3-6 months.
Steam cleaning is a safer and eco-friendly alternative.

For the most part, steam cleaning requires mostly water, so it uses far fewer chemicals compared to traditional cleaning solutions.

Here are a few things you shouldn`t clean with steam vapor: Anything that can be damaged due to heat exposure, such as water-based paint and cardboard. Porous surfaces, such as stucco, brick, and marble. Large industrial spaces and food plants.
So, where does the dirt go when you steam clean? Actually, it doesn`t go anywhere. Instead, the heat and vapour of steam cleaning ensure that all the unwanted substances or stains are fully broken down and easy to get rid of.
Soap only lifts dirt and oil into water, making them suspend in water. Therefore, the more soap you use, the more your mop gets saturated with dirt. So, if you do not remove all the soapy water from the floor, the dirt remains, forming streaks on the floor.
Sticky floors after steam mopping are often the result of residue from cleaning products that had been used on the floor. Using a dirty mop pad also can cause sticky floors.
Steam Cleaning Equipment may come at a higher price

Because of the higher manufacturing costs required to produce the equipment, you will need to pay a little more upfront for a steam cleaner. However, one thing you will have to bear in mind is that a steam cleaner only requires water for use.

We have had some customers who have had their steam cleaners for 5-8 years and are still going strong. For less expensive models like the steam mops or handhelds, you should probably expect more like 3-6 years of consistent use.
Why does steam clean so well? Steam cleaners offer more hygiene and higher cleaning performance than conventional manual cleaning methods with detergents. The secret of cleaning steam lies in the combination of steam and temperature.
These appliances use only clean, cold, tap water. No chemical or detergents can, or should, be used in these systems.
Just Add Water and Cleaner

Be sure to follow the directions before using your home carpet steam cleaners on your floors; adding too much soap to even the best carpet steam cleaner can damage the machine and ruin your carpet.

At the end of the day, both systems can be effective; however, steam cleaning has a much longer drying time and may not be as effective as dry cleaning when it comes to stain removal.
When choosing between steam cleaning and shampooing your carpet, you really can`t go wrong with both, but steam cleaning would be the better option. It removes more unseen pests and dirt, and can handle heavy-duty cleaning without making you wait long for drying.
Mold tends to die at a temperature between 150 degrees and 364 degrees Fahrenheit. Steam cleaning can effectively kill the mold spores from a surface, but steam should not be used on a non-porous surface as the steam can absorb the qualities of porous materials.
Steam cleaning makes light work of bathroom fixtures and fittings, removing soap and limescale build-up, and leaving your toilet fresh and hygienic.
Always use distilled water to fill a steamer and don`t overfill the tank. Tap water contains minerals that can clog the steamer.
Using distilled water can help prevent corrosion and mineral build up, because it doesn`t actually contain any minerals! For this reason, it`s the preferred option to choose when you`re filling up your steam cleaner.
Chemicals for Steam Cleaning Carpet

You will need ΒΌ cup of cleaner for every gallon of water. The machine will hold about four gallons of water. As far as the water is concerned, it should be hot. You can either use the hottest water your tap can make or you can boil the water.

With an increased amount of solvents, hot water can dissolve more material than cold water. This is why hot water is the first choice for cleaning hard-to-wash stains such as dirt, grease, and oil.

I have a new Euro-Pro shark model S3101. Used it one time and while I was doing my tile floor in my kitchen I reached under a cabnet to clean and hit the floor kick kind of hard and broke the head off of the shark. I have only the T shaped end on the shark now with the cleaning head broken off and looks unrepairable. I did kind of hit the floor kick hard but the plastic broke like glass. Can I put a new head on the remaining piece or is it repairable?
thanks
