If you checked your brush roll, floor setting, and belt but your brush roll is still not spinning, that means you probably need a Shark micro switch replacement. This small switch tells the vacuums brush when to start spinning.
Should the brush not rotate freely there may be debris tangled around the ends of the brush, carefully remove any obstructions or replace the brush with a new one. We recommend that you fit a new belt and brush once per year to keep your Reactive vacuum working efficiently.
The brush roll or its bearings may be clogged with hair, threads or dirt. Make sure they are clean and the roll spins. The belt may also have slipped because it was loose. Check the fit of the new belt when it is installed.
There may be debris wrapped around the roller that is preventing it from turning. This is often due to hair, string, or other larger items that may be suck in the roller. Open the brushroll garage by sliding both of the release buttons away from you and then lift off the garage door.
If the vacuum`s floor roller is not spinning, the vacuum simply may not know that you want it to be rolling. Make sure that the power switch is in position II “Brush Roll On.” If the vacuum is not in this setting, the floor roller will not turn.
If all you hear from the vacuum unit is a click at the when you try to start the vacuum motor from inside the house, then the motor in the unit is dead and has to be replaced. A strong odor from the shellac, which coats the copper coil windings, is an indicator that the motor is about to or has burnt out.
If the roller brush is not spinning, it cannot pick up dust. One reason could be that the power button is not set to position II, which runs the roller brush. If the button does not work, here is the link to the power button replacement guide. Another reason is that the roller brush could be broken.
The machine is not spinning at the end of the cycle, and the laundry is still wet. Reason 1: Low spin speed, `rinse hold` or `without spin` may have been selected. Reason 2: An automated spin cap was initiated following an imbalance.
There are three main causes for your Miele to not power on: The power switch has failed. The cord reel is damaged. Your motor has gone bad.
For Shark robotic models, odd sweeping or sudden stops can often be a result of dirty vacuum sensors. These sensors can often be found on the bottom and sides of the vacuum. Hitting them with a soft cloth should be enough to remove any excess dirt.
Our confidence in our design and quality control means that your new Shark vacuum cleaner is guaranteed for a total of 5 years. Our cordless handheld vacuum cleaner models are covered by a 12-month guarantee extendable to a total guarantee period of 2 years subject to registration.
Check to make sure the vacuum is switched to the correct mode. The switch should be in the Power and Brushroll mode to make the roller spin. If it is in just the power mode the roller will not move. The brushroll indicator light should be green when working.
To reset your shark vacuum, put the Power button in the On-Off position and keep the vacuum unplugged. If necessary, clear the hose. Once it has cooled completely, plug the vacuum back in again.
The Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away has one rotatory belt. The belt is responsible for the mechanical rotations of the brushroll. Without it, the vacuum will not function.
Why is my robot turning circles or spinning around in open spaces? The robot`s navigation algorithm turns the robot in open spaces in order to cover more area. If this occurs frequently, turn off your unit and dust off the bumper lens with a clean, dry cloth. Press the bumper back a few times to ensure it moves freely.
Inspecting the Vacuum Commutator for Motor Brush Problems

Test that by turning the motor off and pushing on the center shaft, the armature. If it has any play, besides spinning, then replace the motor. If solid then replace the brushes – motor brush replacement instructions.

Factors may include having a bad motor, incompatible pump applications or poor ventilation. Constant overheating may indicate a malfunction.
Clog located in the vacuum hose

Turn the unit on and feel the suction at the end of the hose handle. If there is no or low suction, then the clog is in the hose. You can remove the clog by running a long, stiff object through the hose, such as a butter knife, starting at the wall end.

1. Press the power switch at the top of the canister to the I position to vacuum bare floors (straight suction only) or use Lift-Away® mode (see below). To vacuum carpets and rugs, set the switch to the II position to engage motorized brushroll.
Shark vacuum cleaners often have a brush roll indicator light. This shows whether the vacuum`s brush roll is functioning correctly or whether there is an error. A solid green light shows that the vacuum`s brush roll is spinning correctly.
If your washer won`t agitate but spins, a broken agitator may be to blame. The agitator is the centerpiece in a top load washer that agitates and moves the clothes through the water during the wash cycle. The output shaft of the transmission is splined to the agitator to secure it in place.
Inspect the motor coupling to determine if it is broken. If the motor coupling is broken, replace it. Inspect the drive belt to determine if it is broken or if it is loose on the pulleys. If the drive belt is broken or loose, replace it.
Durability & Warranty – If you`re looking for a vacuum cleaner with durability and longevity, look no further than Miele. Miele vacuum cleaners are designed and tested to last for 20 years. Miele vacuum cleaners come with a 7-year warranty on the motor and a 1-year warranty on parts and labor.
Check that the vacuum cleaner is plugged into a working power outlet and that fuses and breakers don`t need resetting. An activated thermal cut-out due to a blockage is the next most likely cause of the problem. Check for blockages in the hose and filters, and remove any obstructions that you find.

The motor pully is going bad. it won’t let brush roller turn anymore.so i need the complete motorwith the pully attached
ANSWER : Are you sure the spindle is damaged from its original condition? Please make sure the bearings that hold the brush allow the brush to spin freely, otherwise, you’ll ruin another belt and/or spindle shaft. Some models have spindles that unsrew from the motor shaft and of course unscreww oposite the direction of motor spin. If the pindle shaft is part of the motor armature, you will need to get a new armature (if available as a seperate part from the motor as a whole). Goodluck,MAcgivor

Now that I just fixed my Lux Legacy canister vacuum, I need help on my other Electrolux Regency Series upright! The vacuum works fine but the rotating brush does not work and the brush motor does not turn on. Tried cleaning the brush and hitting hte reset button to no avail. This upright has a triple setting switch and I checked the each of the wires seem to be attached. Tried rotating the brush by hand and it would not budge. Was going to “encourage” the brush to turn with a set of articula
ANSWER : There are a couple rectangular holes on the bottom of the power nozzle, beside the wheels. These have tabs in them that need released with a standard screwdriver.
.rogerpotts_10.jpg.Once they release, turn the vacuum over and lift cover of power nozzle at the back. This pulls the front of the cover out of the lip on the “bumper”.
.Once this is done, you’ll need to unscrew the screw at each end of the brush. Lift the brush out and thoroughly clean it, including the ends.
. rogerpotts_9.jpg.
.Check the wiring to make sure they’re connected to the terminals of the motor. Also, check the belt for wear and tear. These belts can last for five years or more, but if it looks bad a good time to replace it is while you have the power head apart.
.When reassembling the vacuum, ensure the belt is fitted properly around the motor shaft and brush.
.Insert the front of the cover first, ensuring the edge fits neatly beneath the lip on the bumper all the way around. It takes a little manipulating to press the back into place. Make sure both tabs click into the locked position. Turn the vacuum over and reinstall screws. Try to rotate brush by hand a few times.
.At this point, plug the vacuum in and turn it on. If the power head doesn’t run, press the reset button. If the power head motor still doesn’t run, it could be due to loose or disconnected wires that lead to the reset switch, a bad reset switch, or even a bad motor. The vacuum needs to be taken to the nearest Aerus Electrolux store for further diagnosis and repair.

Roller brush of my dyson dc07 isn’t turning…
ANSWER : It migh be the belt.check your belt or it is the brushroll is stuck.(from to much hair ect.)

The vacuum is making a noise like something is stuck when it is in the carpet position but not when in the floor position. I can’t find anything that is stuck in the areas that I can see. I have cleaned the brush but it does not seem to want to turn. Does this machine need to be oiled so the roller will turn? Is there a way to check inside the motor? Do you think that because the brush won’t turn that is making the noise? Do you know of any repair shops in the Lake Havasu City, Arizona area?
ANSWER : As far as the roller brush goes, yes, it does need to be cleaned. Follow the directions to remove it and clean as best you can of all debris. On both ends of the roller brush there will be two “holders” of sort that connect the brush to the frame of the vacuum. These need to be able to turn freely around the brush. Clean them as best you can and spray some WD40 in between the roller and both the holders. Work the holders around by hand to be sure they move freely..I would also check to see if your belts are snug..
.Please let me know if this does not help solve your problems..Paul
