Roller brush is not spinning

Check to make sure the vacuum is switched to the correct mode. The switch should be in the Power and Brushroll mode to make the roller spin. If it is in just the power mode the roller will not move. The brushroll indicator light should be green when working.

If brush will not turn by hand, or belt is broken, replace the damaged part by ordering online at BISSELL.com. Clean off any debris on the brush. If the brush is still not turning, please take the unit to an Authorized Service Center to have a Quality Technician inspect the unit.
Unplug your machine to reset the brush. While unplugged, remove the brush window and brush roll from your machine, by pulling the tab. Take out the obstruction that was causing the machine to stop working. Once the obstruction is removed, you may reassemble the brush roll and brush window.
You may have stalled the brush motor. To reset, turn off and unplug, then plug back in and turn on. The brush roll may have lodged debris or other entanglements keeping the brush from rotating. To fix, you`ll need to remove the brush roll to inspect.
Vacuum Cleaner: Why doesn`t my vacuum cleaner`s brush roll spin? A broken drive belt, damaged brush roll, jammed brush roll bearings, tripped brush roll motor overload, failed brush roll motor or a wiring failure in the wand or nozzle can prevent the brush roll from spinning.
You can find the shark brush-bar reset button on the underside of the vacuum.
To reset your shark vacuum, put the Power button in the On-Off position and keep the vacuum unplugged. If necessary, clear the hose. Once it has cooled completely, plug the vacuum back in again.
Locate the brush reset button on the lower back right of the vacuum. Press the button to reset the brushroll To ensure the brush has been reset, plug the vacuum back into the electrical outlet.
Check to see if the collection water tank outside the bladder is full. The float will activate to cut off suction. Empty the collection tank and test for suction. If there is still no suction at this time, please visit a BISSELL Authorized Service Center.
If your brush is not turning it could be due to a broken Belt or a seized Brush Roll, follow these steps to resolve: Turn off and unplug machine. Use a Phllips-head screwdriver to remove 3 screws, 2 in the belt cover and 1 on the brush roll mount. Remove belt cover.
Replace the Brush Belt

If the vacuum is still hard to push, tilt it back far enough that you can inspect the moving brush while the vacuum is running. Be careful to avoid getting too close to the moving parts. If you see that the brush is not turning, that means you will need to replace the brush belt.

Clog located in the vacuum hose

Turn the unit on and feel the suction at the end of the hose handle. If there is no or low suction, then the clog is in the hose. You can remove the clog by running a long, stiff object through the hose, such as a butter knife, starting at the wall end.

If the breaker has been tripped, simply press the reset button on the outlet. If your outlet does not contain a reset button, simply locate your circuit breaker panel (usually located in the basement of most homes) to reset the outlet.
Why does my Shark vacuum keep stopping? For Shark robotic models, odd sweeping or sudden stops can often be a result of dirty vacuum sensors. These sensors can often be found on the bottom and sides of the vacuum. Hitting them with a soft cloth should be enough to remove any excess dirt.
The Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away has one rotatory belt. The belt is responsible for the mechanical rotations of the brushroll. Without it, the vacuum will not function.
This guide is intended to show how to access, remove, and replace the belt on a Shark Rocket Stick Vacuum with Self-Cleaning Brushroll. This replacement may be necessary if the brush roller is turning slowly or not at all.
Check the hose for any clogs

If your Shark vac has a hose, feel along the length for any lumps. That indicates a clog that`s causing your suction issues. See if you can break the clog by applying gentle pressure with your hands, or gently move it to the end of the hose to remove it.

Remove the brushroll and clean all hair, string, and lint from the brushroll bearings. If the vacuum cleaner brush still doesn`t spin after you clean the brushroll, consider replacing the brushroll.
If all you hear from the vacuum unit is a click at the when you try to start the vacuum motor from inside the house, then the motor in the unit is dead and has to be replaced. A strong odor from the shellac, which coats the copper coil windings, is an indicator that the motor is about to or has burnt out.
There could be several factors as to why your BISSELL PowerFresh steam mop is not producing steam. First, check to make sure the unit is plugged in and is in a working outlet. Next, check to make sure there is water in the tank. It is very important to make sure you are ONLY using water to fill the tank.
Your dirty water tank may not be secured tightly. Check the rubber tab on the dirty water tank and press firmly on all edges to secure it tightly. The accessory hose door also needs to be closed securely. Check the door and make sure it is locked in place.
On average a brushroll should be replaced every year or two. If you`re not sure if the vacuum is working as good as it could or should be, replacing the brushroll can be an easy fix .
It is recommended to clean or replace your filters every 3-6 months depending on use. This filter is washable – Clean by hand washing in warm water. A mild detergent may be used if desired.
When you turn it on, you pick one of two settings- rug, or hard floor. To mop, you have to push the button in the handle that dispenses water and cleaner. If you`re doing a serious mop, you have to hold the button down the entire time (if this sounds tiresome, it is).

My Bissell Dirtlifter Powerbrush carpet cleaner will not roll. The back wheels roll fine, but when you put the machine down flat, the front part (where the roller is) sticks and will not roll.
ANSWER : I had the same problem. It would pull backwards but not go forward. A closer examination revealed the clear plastic part on the bottom in the very front of the machine had popped loose on one side.
If you look at the front of the machine, there is the clear plastic part on top where you see the dirty water being sucked up. The bottom half that creates the channel for the vacuum is where it came loose. It wouldn’t create enough suction to draw the water up either. By taking out the two screws that hold the top part in place and removing it, I was able to snap the bottom back in. Works fine now. Hope this helps.

The hand-held wand wont slide back into the tube. It wont go down far enough to click in and become the handle again. It was working fine but all of the sudden won’t fit back in.
ANSWER : Sounds like the tube has something inside of it that is obstructing the path. veriffy the the “female” end of the tube isnt obstructed, and also, make sure that nothing is bent ( which can happen easily). use a flashlight to shine down into the tubes and check everything out. you shouldnt need to use a lot of pressure when trying to make the tubes fit. if it doesnt fit, dont force it, basically…..try turning the tube too, and that should work.
