Bissell 1698 PowerSteamer ProHeat Upright Wet/Dry Vacuum\015 There are three connections on the water pump for the Bissell PowerSteamer ProHeat (#1698). As you face the unit looking at the front of it, the connection that comes in on the left pulls water from the tank. The connection on the right sends water out to the unit. But there is a tube connection on top of the pump cylinder and I don’t know where that tube is supposed to connect. Any ideas. I have a piece of tubing about 9 inches long left over from a reassembly, and I don’t see any place to connect it. I’ve downloaded the Bissell owners manual and the repair manual (see link) but neither specify what to do. Another chap was looking for a tubing diagram but I didn’t see any response. ..http://newzealand.bissell.com/images/IncludeContent/Service_Center_Help/Upright_Deep_Cleaner_Repair_Guide.pdf\015

Plug the PowerSteamer into a proper outlet and turn ON the Power switch. While pressing the trigger, slowly make several passes over the area to be cleaned. Caution: Do not overwet. Turn the machine Power switch OFF and let BISSELL Advanced Deep Cleaning Formula dissolve the tough soil for 1-2 minutes.
Screw the hose fitting onto the faucet or faucet connector.

Push the end of the hose over the end of the faucet—or the faucet connector, if one is attached. Then, twist counterclockwise until the hose is attached snugly to the faucet.

Push hose into clip and insert end of hose into base of vacuum. Insert the lower cord wrap and turn it to the left to lock it into place. Insert the end of the hose into the back of the vacuum and twist clockwise to lock it into place. Put your accessory tools on the vacuum and you`re ready to go!
A possible cause might be that the tank is not properly seated. To assure the tank is seated properly, pick it up and re-seat is so it sits snugly on the unit. If this doesn`t fix the problem, make sure the tank is assembled properly. To make sure they are both latched properly, pick the tank up by its handle.
Steam cleaners heat steam to a minimum temperature of 212 °F (100°C) and emit powerful jets of hot vaporized water that can loosen dirt, kill germs as well as break up grease, stains and even mould.
You have to connect your hose to a spigot first so that it supplies water. However, this can be detrimental, especially when you have no outside spigot. Even if you have an outside tap or an inside-sink or faucet to connect your hose, you need to know how to make the connection safely.

The automatic drain hose is hooked up to the back of the unit, but when the bucket is full, the automatic pump does not work. The automatic pump should come on and empty the bucket, but it does not come on unless the water is siphoned manually through the tube. Then the pump come on and empties the bucket. I have reattached the tube and still had to manually siphon the water through the tube. Any suggestions?
ANSWER : Any automatic pumps operate off a swith that is turned on when the water rises. They normally have some type of ball lift, that will raise the switch when water is high and then drops with the water and shuts the pumps off. It sounds like yours is stuck and not activating the pump.

No Water My Bissell rug shampooer does not eject water or saop whan I pull the saop trigger on the handle. I checked both filters and they are clean. Then, I removed the container that sucks up the water and pulled the saop trigger, water barely came out of the tubes. I tried to clean the rug in our family room and the rug was not wet when I finished, no water coming out to clean the rug. HELP HELP HELP!!! I live in Colorado is there a Bissell repair shop near Denver, HELP!!! Thanks Dominick ema
ANSWER : Does water squirt out of the hose nozzle, if it does, then check the heater inside the handle asm. Make sure that where the tubes hook up to it are not clogged. If water doesn’t squirt, check for the seal at the bottom of the tank, it needs to be on the tank, not in the hole, this is for the soap bottle also, there is a seal on the bottom of it as well. The flow indictor cap is leaking air or maybe is too tight. If you had the top cover off, make sure that the tubes are routed right so as not to get pinched when the cover is put back on, the smart mix knob should be in the water setting and that the piston is on the bottom of the smart mix knob. Pump is bad. Try running a mix of vinegar and water to see if that unclogs the lines. Is the top cover and the base tight together in the back, sometimes the top breaks loose and it will raise up and it can’t spray, just re-fasten it down.

I have a bissell 1698 powersteamer. i have already cleaned heater and completely cleaned all parts , checked the mix piston, checked belt. it will not shoot water or mix. the motor runs, it will **** water and the brush turns. is it the pump and does the pump just shoot the soap?
ANSWER : Pump is probably bad. When you put the lid back down, did you put the piston on the bottom of the smart mix knob? Also the smart mix knob should be in the water only selection when the top is pushed all of the way down. Also sometimes the flow indictor cap can give you a problem with it leaking air.

I have a bissell quickwash 1950-e. I bought it Jan. 2006, and have only used it 8-10 times, I live in a very hard water area, so I though if I put some vinegar in with the cleaning solution it would get rid of any hard water deposits, unfortunatly the solution went lumpy in the tank and stoped spraying out water, I have opened it, hose clean, sprayer not blocked, x at bottom of water container when depresed water trickles out, component that opens the x when water container placed, also ran wate
ANSWER : Hard to say what is causing your problem, replacing the cap and insert on the water tank may help, part #2041111, even tho it may trickle out water when depressed, they can still be bad. The other thing would be the rod not relesing the water like it should. The big draw back to this model is Bissell has obsoleted all of its parts and most are no longer available. Might be wiser to buy new.
