How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

The detection parameters are temperature, pressure, acceleration, position/angle, rotation, flow, liquid level, vibration, and gas. The number of MEMS sensors is increasing due to the advantages mentioned in the table.
With the engine not running and the key on, the MAP sensor should read around 28-inHg. When the engine is started and idling, the vacuum of the engine should reduce atmospheric barometric pressure by 20-inHg. The reading on the scan tool scan tool should be approximately 8- to 9-inHg.
Sensors can help cut fuel consumption and harmful emissions. They play a part in boosting engine efficiency and vehicle safety to ensure greater driving comfort and enjoyment. To fulfill the task of capturing and transmitting data, sensors need to be resistant to temperature, moisture, dirt and chemicals.
A car sensor is an electronic device that monitors various aspects of the vehicle and sends information to the driver or ECU (Electronic Control Unit). In certain situations, the ECU automatically makes adjustments to the particular component based on the information received from the sensor.
Sensor selection criteria include temperature, size, protection class, and whether the sensor requires a discrete or analog input. Also consider sensor repetition accuracy, sensor response speed, and sensing range.

3 strategies can be put to use to warn the driver: LCD alert, audio alert, and LED alert. The proximity sensor provides the distance measurement. A proximity sensor detects the presence of nearby items without making direct contact with them.

Start by checking the connector and wiring. The connector should be securely connected, and the pins should be clean and straight. Corrosion or bent pins can cause MAP sensor signal problems. Similarly, the wiring between the ECM and MAP sensor should be intact.
The sensors used by the ECU include: accelerator pedal position sensor. camshaft position sensor. coolant temperature sensor.
The most commonly sought-after engine management sensors include air mass meters, knock sensors, lambda sensors and ignition coils, but you can also find high quality wheel speed sensors, crankshaft sensors, vacuum sensors and yaw sensors should you require them.
What are examples of sensor data? Sensors can be instrumented to track a variety of data points, but the most common include temperature, humidity, pressure, proximity, speed, rotation, light, and gas or chemical levels.
FMCW method MW and Ultrasonic sensor enables to detect vehicle approach and presense. Point to point photo beam which is designed for reliable vehicle detection. Measuring difference of earth magnetic field enable to detect vehicle presence.
Sensor data is the output of a device that detects and responds to some type of input from the physical environment. The output may be used to provide information to an end user or as input to another system or to guide a process. Sensors can be used to detect just about any physical element.
Generally, active sensors require an external power supply to operate, called an excitation signal which is used by the sensor to produce the output signal.
Position sensors are used in automobiles to determine the steering wheel position, pedal positions, seat positions, and the position of various valves, knobs and actuators.
The sensor notices changes when a vehicle changes that magnetic field. Magnetometer range depends upon the target. There are two types of magnetic sensors; passive and active. The active type of magnet is called a magnetometer.
The parameter is a required sensor property. The sensors in the system work mainly on the basis of the data sent in the parameters. Parameters can have different names which are set in the hardware configuration, for example, param199, param240, TEMP, pwr_int, gsm, can6, and so on.
The sensors responses were measured using two parameters, relative resistance and impedance.
parameters of sensors such as input, output, sensitivity, linearity, repeatability and hysteresis are tabulated in Table 2. …

I have one central vacuum location that does not receive power. All other locations work. I do get suction but just no power. What should I do first to test power to location.
ANSWER : You need to use a circiut tester (electrician test probe) on the two terminals the hose plugs in to to see if power is present to connect to. The receptacle likely has damage to the power connection from arcing from the hose previously not fully plugged in while using. You will most likely need to replace the wall hose receptacle.

The brush roller stops turning and I can smell the belt burning, then it will catch and start working normal. I looked under the plate to check the belts and they looked okay and no hang ups of string or anything. The only thing that seemed weird was that the smaller belt that actually attaches and turns the roller is a bit loose. The larger belt is tight but looks like its the one that is burning and causing the smell.
ANSWER : Better to replace both belts the smaller one is stretched out thats whyits slipping ,be sure to clean the old rubber off the motor shaft before replacing the belts.it will cause the new belts to run unevevly and go bad before their time

Hoover – Red Light Dirt Sensor
ANSWER : Check to make sure the settings didn’t get inadvertently switched to the hi position, move the switch back and forth from high to reg a few times, then leave it on reg.

remove and hand wash the primary filter and secondary filter, dry throughly and replace them in the vacuum.

if none of this works, you will need to have the vacuum serviced, or if it is still working, just don’t pay attention to the dirt-finder. the dirt sensor on your vacuum is located in the suction tube and is generally not accessible enough to clean without taking the vacuum apart.

hope this helps,
trin

I HAVE A BISSELL PROHEAT CARPET CLEANER 7920 I DISSEMBLY IT TO CLEAN IT. I DON’T KNOW IF I PUT THE HOSES BACK IN THE RIGHT LOCATION BECAUSE AFTER I PUT IT BACK TOGETHER IT’S LEAKING WATER ALL OVER THE FLOOR BUT IT WILL RECOVER THE WATER FROM THE FLOOR AND THE SOLUTION WON’T SPARY OUT I THINK THE HOSES ARE NOT IN THEIR RIGHT LOCATION TO STOP THE FLOW WHEN IT’S NOT SUPPOSE TO BE COMING OUT CONSTANTLY HELP PLEASE IS THEIR A HOSE DIAGRAM FOR THE HOSES INSIDE THE CARPET CLEANER

I have one central vacuum location that does not receive power. All other locations work. I do get suction but just no power. What should I do first to test power to location.
ANSWER : Remove the face plate from the wall and test the low voltage wiring behind. Before undoing the screws where the wiring connects, reach inside the inlet and feel the two brass pin connections. There should be spring tension behind each. Underneath the screws where the wires connect there is a spring which pushes on the brass terminal in the inlet so do not remove the screws fully.
The wiring is low voltage so you can short across the terminals with and insulated set of pliers. If you do this and the vac does not start you need to check where the inlet wiring connects into the main wiring circuit. It should run along the pipe. There should be continuity from each wire back to the vac itself.
Post back to advise how you make out.
