Kenmore 34923 / 34925 Progressive Bagged Upright Vacuum\015 My vaccum sucked up a ribbon while vaccuming. i stopped the vaccum and pulled the ribbon out. when i restarted the vaccum it smelled like it was burning and the brush on the bottom was not spinning. also, there was no suction so it was not cleaning. The Vacuum is not sucking anything up. The suction seems weak. Hot air is coming out of the filter, but nothing is being sucked up. I have taken the hose out to convert it to the attachment mode and still get nothing being sucked up..\015

How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

Check service panel for tripped breakers/blown fuses. If breaker is tripped, reset it. If fuse is blown, replace it. If vacuum cleaner is plugged in, be sure power button is in the off position before resetting breaker/changing fuse.
Loose connections will cause your vacuum cleaner to lose suction. Make sure that the dust container, the hose, the tube and the brush are all attached properly. If the problem continues, your vacuum cleaner might have a technical problem. If you suspect this to be the case, contact an authorised service agent.
Vacuum cleaners are fairly simple machines. They need power to be transmitted to the vacuum to create a suction force that lifts debris. So, the usual areas that cause suction loss include the wrong height setting, stuck rollers, a faulty gasket, a broken vacuum belt, a filled bag, or a clogged hose.
Commercial vacuum cleaners are mostly larger in size, with greater suction power but less energy consumption. They are heavier as well because of the more sturdy materials used to manufacture them. Regular vacuum cleaners are usually lightweight, so it is easy for the users to carry them around the house.
At only 14lbs, the 2-motor vacuum cleaner provides 10ft of extended reach for cleaning above floors, stairs and other hard-to-access areas. The versatile 3-in-1 combination tool includes a crevice tool, dusting brush and an upholstery tool to lift pet hair from couches to curtains to baseboards.
The bottom line. Many vacuum brands recommend changing the bag before it becomes full, at least every three months.
The two main indicators to determine vacuum power performance are water lift and airflow. The water lift is measured in mmH2O, mbar or kPa. It represents the suction force and is the reference parameter for vacuuming liquids and heavy materials. The airflow is measured in m3/h or in l/s.
One of the easiest ways to increase vacuum cleaner suction is to empty the dust bag or container. Dust containers need to have enough space for airflow, otherwise, they could get clogged and have less suction power. Regularly check your dust compartment and empty or change it when it`s already 70-80% full.
Low suction or poor pick-up may be due to a clog in the vacuum cleaner. If you notice a change in the sound of the motor or a reduction in the spinning action, check for clogs. First, remove the Easy Empty dirt tank from the vacuum and discard all dirt and debris.
Many reasons can cause low refrigerant suction pressure, i.e.: low indoor temperature, dirty filters, restricted ducts, undersized ducts, closed dampers, frosted coils, restricted refrigerant line, restricted piston, incorrect piston, restricted strainer, bad indoor blower motor ect.
Check that the vacuum cleaner is plugged into a working power outlet and that fuses and breakers don`t need resetting. An activated thermal cut-out due to a blockage is the next most likely cause of the problem. Check for blockages in the hose and filters, and remove any obstructions that you find.
Overheated Motor

If your vacuum was working fine and then suddenly shut off, it may have overheated. Most vacuums are equipped with a thermal protector safety switch that won`t allow the motor to run when it becomes overheated. You will need to wait for 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on your machine, to try again.

A damaged vacuum hose, clogged motor air filter or bad suction motor can cause the vacuum cleaner to shut off during use. A tripped overload on the vacuum suction motor can shut off the vacuum cleaner during use. If your vacuum has a reset button, push it; if the vacuum seems hot, let it cool off first.

Vaccum has no suction
ANSWER : Here is what we did to fix the problem of our vacuum having no suction..
.We unscrewed the three screws on the back and took the hose off of the vacuum.  Then we took the hose outside and put the water hose through the vacuum hose and turned on the water.  After about 30 second the water pushed through a dust bunny the size of a fist and a marker.  Basically, the vacuum did not have suction because the hose was clogged with dust, etc.  After reassembling the vacuum, it worked just fine.  .

Vaccum problem I turn the vaccum on and it does not run but the light on the vaccum works. Bissell bagless vaccum cleaner
ANSWER : No sound at all? or the motor runs but no vaccuum?
.did it stop while using it? might have overheated due to dirty filters… strange that the light comes on but no motor at all… that would suggest to me that the motor is shot…

Suction Cover The suction cover of my Eureka Deep Steam 2575A is broken – the tabs snapped off of the cover so I am unable to screw the suction cover back on. I need to purchase a new suction cover but can’t find one anywhere. Anyone know what I can do? thanks

Poor Suction Heya! So I just picked up a used Dyson, but when I vacuum with it, the suction is pretty weak and it spits all kinds of stuff out the back and into my feet. When I pull the hose I have good suction, but in regular mode it hardly picks up anything. The brushes are spinning, and it eventually will clean an area if I go over it again and again. Maybe a clog somewhere? Please tell me that Dysons have better suction than my $50 Dirt Devil! Thanks!
ANSWER : I recently bought a second hand Dyson DC07. Its suction was poor. I removed all the un-clipable pipe bits and to remove any blockage but it all looked clear. The Final Sponge and hepper filter did have a lot of dust in it and the rotating brush was full of hair but nothing bad.
.
.I eventual gave in to curiosity and removed the three screws in the top or the yellow removable dust collection tube and cyclone bit to see what was in there. The mechanism to release the flap at the bottom of the collection tube does not allow you to remove the lid completely but it does open far enough to get inside. I found the whole top section of the yellow plastic bit blocked by a big plug of compacted dust and a champagne cork. If you are willing to take the risk and have a torx 15 screwdriver handy it that part may be blocked. It did get a bit messy.
.
.If I was going to attempt the same procedure I’d remove the dust collection unit from the vacuum cleaner as I did before, but leave the clear tube attached and the emptying flap firmly closed to reduce the mess from the dust falling out the bottom while cleaning the top part.

No suction my riccar 8850 has no suction. I cant find any clogs and there is some suction on the hose when using cleaning tools but when hooked up to the vaccum bag it wont clean
ANSWER : Replace your belt. Remove the baseplate, remove the brushroll, place a new belt around the motor pulley, then around the pulley on the brushroll, and pull the brushroll back into place in the nozzle. Spin it by hand to make sure it spins, (otherwise you’ll break the belt again,) and then replace the baseplate. Party.

No suction I am getting no suction on my central vac at the vac. I do not believe that the piping is plugged up, the vacuum is not creating suction. What are the causes of no suction at the vacuum and how do I take the top half of the Nutone central vac off?
ANSWER : Use the guide at builtinvacuum.com/flowchrt.html to find the issue and solution. Most likely you need to test it without any filter and be sure the bottom of the unit is attached 🙂 To get access to the motors you need to unbolt the very top sides.

Lost suction my DCO7 lost suction in the hose I started taking it apart and cleaning it and looking for clogs (probably more than I should have) and when I put it back together it has awesome suction in the hose but no suction in the base. It just pulls the pine needles up (christmas tree) but they never appear in the “bag” compartment and when I look they are just all gathered in a clump in the bottom by the brush.

My eureka optima upright bagless vaccum has VERY low suction using the floor part. the hose has excellent suction. i removed the little translucent door underneath and there were no blockages, i cleaned the brushroll thoroughly and that hasnt helped either. i know this probably isnt recommended but i turned it on to the floor setting with the brushroll off and stuck my fingers up the intake as far as i could, the suction was good further up but it just seems to stop down at the base. because i s
ANSWER : I will try and help here. Is the sole plate on the bottom of the vacuum complety on and there are no visible cracks along the seam where it meets the body? This is the usual cause for this. Onc you take of the plate to access the roller and brushes, if this is not put on correctl you will lose suction. Look for any other openenings that can cause a air leak.
