The most common cause of loss of suction is that the filters have become blocked. They may require cleaning or replacing. Another cause could be that the vacuum cleaner hose is blocked.
The FloorMate® Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner delivers a deep clean while gently and safely scrubbing sealed hardwood, vinyl, ceramic tile, laminate and marble floor surfaces. With the Dual Tank Technology and specialty brushes for wood, tile & grout you can have a deluxe clean anywhere you need it.

Operating the FloorMate

Before you wash the floors, you have to vacuum or sweep a little. After that I just turned the knob to Wash & Dry and went at it in my kitchen. On this setting you push the FloorMate to wash the floors and pull to dry the floors.

Can I use non-Hoover solutions in my Hoover carpet cleaner? We recommend that you use Hoover solutions to ensure best user experience and no machines damage.
However, the basic rule of thumb is that carpeted floors and rugs should be vacuumed at least twice weekly and hard surface floors like tile, hardwood, laminate, and vinyl should be vacuumed at least once per week.
I boil the water and pour it in carefully—boiling hot. Most home cleaners do not use the power of boiling water, but I do. I have done this for 14 years now, and without any problem.
The short answer is that you should not use vinegar for carpet cleaning. There is truth to the idea you can use vinegar as a natural disinfectant for cleaning but it cannot remove dirt or soil from a surface or from carpet.
Water Can Ruin Your Vacuum Motor

If water invades the motor, you may have a completely failed vacuum cleaner. Again, not only will the water be inside your motor, but it will be carrying dirt and grime with it, making it unlikely (or at least very difficult) to restore the motor to a safe condition.

Vacuum cleaners are fairly simple machines. They need power to be transmitted to the vacuum to create a suction force that lifts debris. So, the usual areas that cause suction loss include the wrong height setting, stuck rollers, a faulty gasket, a broken vacuum belt, a filled bag, or a clogged hose.
One of the easiest ways to increase vacuum cleaner suction is to empty the dust bag or container. Dust containers need to have enough space for airflow, otherwise, they could get clogged and have less suction power. Regularly check your dust compartment and empty or change it when it`s already 70-80% full.

Noun. floormate (plural floormates) A person with whom one shares a floor in a building.
The Hoover PowerDash has a dual-tank system, meaning it boasts two separate tanks: one for the clean water and the other for the dirty water it sucks back up out of the carpet. The clean-water tank only holds a half-gallon, so the liquid didn`t weigh the machine down like it would with a larger tank.
Sweeping before you reach for the mop just gets the job done better. When you sweep first, you remove dirt, dust, and all other built-up debris on your non-carpeted floors over time.
Both sweeping and vacuuming efficiently remove dirt and debris from the floor, but there are differences. Vacuuming picks up more dust than sweeping, but sweeping cleans up more quickly than vacuuming. Many people claim that the robot vacuum is best for hardwood floors.
It is most important to remove the dry dust / soil before washing / mopping / scrubbing the floor. By not removing dry dust first and proceeding directly to wet mopping, the dry dust gets damp and sticks on the floor.
The Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe Carpet Cleaner does not heat the water itself. Please fill the clean water tank with hot tap water. The use of hot water as opposed to cold, significantly improves cleaning performance.
Dish Soap. While dish soap won`t get as bubbly as laundry detergent, it`s still not something you should use to clean a spill. When you use dish soap, the soap gets rid of the dirt and possibly even the stain, but it might seep into the fibers of the carpet.
Can I use cleaning formulas other than the BISSELL brand? It`s possible to use others, but we recommend against it. Our formulas contain no dyes, phosphates or optical brighteners, and will produce optimal cleaning performance when used in combination with BISSELL carpet cleaning machines.
Too Much Floor Cleaning Product: It`s a common misconception that using more than the recommended amount for cleaning products yields cleaner floors, so be careful not to use too much. Too much product can leave a leftover residue that is more difficult to clean.
“We would recommend vacuuming at least once or twice a week—and more often if we have pets—with the right tools to remove dust quickly and effectively,” Patel advises.
The average life expectancy of a mid-range vacuum cleaner is about six years. You can fix or replace things like blocked filters, jammed brush rolls, frayed hoses, worn-out stick vac batteries and broken accessories yourself.

I have a bissell quickwash 1950-e. I bought it Jan. 2006, and have only used it 8-10 times, I live in a very hard water area, so I though if I put some vinegar in with the cleaning solution it would get rid of any hard water deposits, unfortunatly the solution went lumpy in the tank and stoped spraying out water, I have opened it, hose clean, sprayer not blocked, x at bottom of water container when depresed water trickles out, component that opens the x when water container placed, also ran wate
ANSWER : Hard to say what is causing your problem, replacing the cap and insert on the water tank may help, part #2041111, even tho it may trickle out water when depressed, they can still be bad. The other thing would be the rod not relesing the water like it should. The big draw back to this model is Bissell has obsoleted all of its parts and most are no longer available. Might be wiser to buy new.

I have a Bissel proheat 7901 carpet cleaner and it is not sucking the water up. Normally when I clean the water gets sucked back up and I have to empty the dirty tank. Now no water is in the tank when I am done cleaning. Please help I cannot afford to take it to the shop.
ANSWER : I’m not sure if this will help but I had the same problem and was about ready to pull my hair out. I ended up taking the fill tank off and if you look inside where the red overflow flap is you will find a small screened opening. I found that mine was pretty clogged up with debris but once I removed the mess and put my machine back together it is now sucking like a champ. I hope this helps. Here’s hoping that you don’t have the pay for a service person to look at it.

I have a Sunbeam Model Number 4065-000 and there is white particles comming out of the holes in the bottom. I think it is because we used tap water and there is a lot of deposits in the water. I read on the box that it was ok to use tap water and not distilled water. Is ther any way to clean the inside out to get the deposits cleaned out without affecting the possibility of doing something to the cloths that I will iron after cleaning the iron?
ANSWER : If the deposits are recent and still fairly soft, running a tank of vinegar through the machine should remove the deposits (obviously not using on any clothes, hold it over a sink). if the deposits are more stubborn, you can use a cleaning agent like CLR. rinse the tank out thoroughly after and run through a tank of clean water. good luck!

Bissell Proheat – I need the manual – how do I get the water container back into the machine? I took out the tank and filled it up with water but I cannot get it back in. I need a manual or a picture of how to do it. thank you, ruth

My Bissell ProHeat 2x is pouring water out of the bottom anytime it’s turned on. I had it in the shop for no water, took it back again for the same problem, took it back again because it had no suction, finally took it apart and found the problem with the suction and fixed it myself. Worked fine for a day and now it is constantly leaking water, if it’s turned on, and is useless for anything except for making a mess.
ANSWER : Took the unit apart and discovered my heater had small pinholes in the metal and they had put in silicone, instead of a gasket, which didn’t seal. So much for the place I took it to “saving” my heater for me. I repaired it myself by getting a few o-rings and a seal from the hardware store. As for the “holes” in the bottom – a little marine fixative.

I have a hoover 3000 i have not used in awhile, and since I removed a large rug, I would like to use it again on my slate floor. HOWEVER, I cannot get it to pick up ANY water in the water recovery unit……it is dry, dry, dry. I have put in a new filter, cleaned the nozzle unit, the scrubber , and reconnected both the recovery unit and the water unit several times, but to no avail. I would like to get a graut attachment a well as replacement part, but since I can’t get the basic unit to work, I
ANSWER : Have you made sure the plastic filter cover with the round hole in it that covers the filter is in place ( part # 59177096 ). This piece seems to get lost, and without it there is no pick-up. The other common problem is that the wheel assembly has been damaged. Look at the bottom of the Floormate. You will see a black plastic wheel assembly. There are two pegs at the rear attaching it to the base. If this piece has a crack in it where it attaches to the base, there will be no pick-up.
