ANSWER : If the belt is hot or burning during use, it could be due to a beater brush, which the belt drives, being bound up in some manner..The beater brush is removed during belt changes and should be cleaned of all debris as best you can..At each end of the beater brush there is a plastic clip of sorts that holds it in the vacuum..Spray some WD40 between the bar and the plastic clips then rotate the clips to be sure they move freely. Reassemble with a new belt and put it to use..

I heard that a class action lawsuit against Oreck Vacuum is being started because of all the problems customers are having with their vacuums. Does anyone know about this? My Oreck is only a couple of years old and keeps burning up belts. I took it in after only one week of usage when I started to notice white smoke coming out of it and the smell of burning rubber. Burned smell hi, I have used my hoover 4 times and is starting to smell as something burned, I checked the troobleshouting part of the owner manual and it says that check the belt, I already did that and everything is ok I used the hoover again and still smelling bad and start to work very slow I better shut off it.. what could I do??

ANSWER : If the motor slowed down this would indicate a bad motor. not cost effective on this model to replace unless under warranty. it is not uncommon these days to see a motor go bad every now and then.

I’m using (or WAS using) a Eureka ”the boss” model 8803. The belt broke, no biggie, so I replaced it with a Eureka model U belt, the problem is when I put the new belt on and turn on the vaccuum, the belt breaks again. I am also having trouble getting the brush roller to fit right when the belt is in place. I can’t find any sharp edges that would cut the belt,nor can I find where any small bits may have broken. Anyone have a solution for me?

ANSWER : First, make sure you have the right belt, second, i am thinking that you are not lineing the roller up right, it will only fit one way. look at the ends of the roller and the grooves where it slides in, you should be able to see clearly how it goes.

Kirby Sentria Hi, I have a new Sentria & used it for the first time today. It was going fine & then I could smell smoke & it started to make a loud noise so I turned it off quickly. ANSWER : Sounds like the motor burned up. not sure if travel adapters will handle a large load like a motor, around 8 or amps. power needs in US are 110 volts ac, 60 hertz.
I believe UK is 220 volts and 50 hertz.
usually when a vac is brought to europe you must change motor.

Belts Burning On our Ultimate G, belts are lasting about 2 uses and they smell and burn off. I am looking at the roller and I can see a slight grove where the belt rides. Is it time for a new roller. I am sick and tired of replacing belts and smelling up the house. Thanks Dusty
