The BISSELL® Symphony All-in-One Steam Cleaner combines a vacuum and steam cleaner into one machine, so you can enjoy the benefits of steam cleaning while also vacuuming your floors. Steam mops, like the Symphony, let you clean your hard floors without a mop and bucket or harsh chemicals – all they take are water!
Except when you are descaling a steam mop, do NOT put anything other than water in the tank. Not only does this defeat the primary purpose of steam cleaning (in avoiding chemical cleaners), but you can possibly damage your steam cleaner. For many steamers, you may also be voiding your warranty in the process.
All Steam Cleaners Are the Same

This is a common misconception about steam cleaners. There are three distinct styles of steam cleaners – mops, handhelds, and canister style steam cleaners. Each are uniquely suited for different tasks.

Steam clean the grout

This method works well because the high heat from the steam effectively loosens up mold, dirt, hardened soap residue, and other debris. The loosened gunk will then be carried by the remaining water, and can be removed by scrubbing the grout.

Fill the Tank With Vinegar

Fill the tank with distilled white vinegar or cleaning vinegar. Avoid using other types of vinegar because they may have sediment that interferes with the cleaning process.

Our testing has found that all steam mops remove stains fairly well, with marginal differences, and are likely slightly better than a regular mop and bucket due to the heat and vapour produced by the steam.
Some people learn the hard way by putting fabric softener in their clothing steamers to give it a fresh odor in the process. If a fresh scent is what you`re going for, we`d recommend using our Fabric Facial.
Just Add Water and Cleaner

Be sure to follow the directions before using your home carpet steam cleaners on your floors; adding too much soap to even the best carpet steam cleaner can damage the machine and ruin your carpet.

When matter turns from its gas phase back into its liquid phase, the molecules take up much less space and exert far less pressure. In fact, the condensing steam creates a partial vacuum—a region of much lower pressure than that of the surrounding atmosphere—inside the bottle.
One misconception people make when using a steam cleaner is they think it`s a vacuum cleaner or some deep cleaning machine. Do not do this. Carpet steamers cannot suck up and clear away dirt or clumps of pet hair. Instead, these tools use steam from the water to kill bacteria and germs on the carpet.

When used correctly, what a steam cleaner is used for is to kill 99.99% of germs and bacteria. It`s a safe, healthy, eco-friendly, all-natural way to clean your home from top to bottom.

I have a Husqvarna Viking Designer sewing machine. The fuse blew in the machine and I am having trouble finding a replacement fuse. It is a T3.5/250v glass fuse. Please let me know where to find one. I have searched the internet high and low and can’t find one. Radio Shack has a 3.0amp 250v slow blow fuse whick seems to be the right dimensions. Willl that work. Otherwise, I am not sure what to do and can’t afford to take the machine to a repair show. Thank you.
ANSWER : That fuse will work no problem. There is no harm in trying it.
The machine probably requires about 2 amps or less under normal operation.
Being a 3.0 amp slow blow fuse, it will withstand short bursts of extra current when your machine gets temporarily overloaded.

Just make sure the machine is properly lubricated and runs freely. The fuse will definitely blow if your machine should get jammed or something like that.

I think I know where I can score some. Cost of postage only. 🙂

I have a Kirby Heritage II Turbo and I need a user’s manual, but can’t find one anywhere. I have to replace the fill tube in the bag and can see the cable tie on top that holds it in place, but don’t know how it’s attached to the mini-emtor. If I can’t replace the fill tube, will tape fix it? If I just taped it; will it hold? Thanks.
ANSWER : Taping usually just causes a mess. The mini-emptor has coarse threads on it that the fill tube screws on to. Occasionally there is a cable tie on the bottom which is not really necessary. If you cut the tube near the bottom, you can get hold of it’s wire frame and rip it out. After cleaning the threaded area on the mini-emptor, wet one end of the new fill tube with water and screw it well down. The bag top adapter can then be put on and secured with cable ties.
