How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?
Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :
If the flashing red indicator light appears: – Change the vacuum bag – If the vacuum bag is not full, but the full bag indicator light is flashing red, check the hose for a clog. When cleaning with a tool (dusting brush, upholstery tool or crevice tool), the flashing red indicator light may appear.
The Made in USA, Riccar vacuums represent the highest standards in design, material, and durability. They offer exceptional filtration and cleaning ability. Established in 1997 Tacony Manufacturing in St.
First, check that the cord is properly connected to the vacuum cleaner (again, this is surprisingly easy to overlook) and that there are no splits in the rubber. If the cord is damaged, it will need immediately repairing or replacing. The on/off switch can break over time and need replacing.
A damaged vacuum hose, clogged motor air filter or bad suction motor can cause the vacuum cleaner to shut off during use. A tripped overload on the vacuum suction motor can shut off the vacuum cleaner during use. If your vacuum has a reset button, push it; if the vacuum seems hot, let it cool off first.
– Some vacuums have an in-line thermal fuse (often located between the switch lead and the motor coil). If the fuse is blown it will need to be replaced. – Check your home circuit breaker – it may have tripped. – Some vacuums have a brushroll on/off control.
The problem may lie in your vacuum cleaner`s adapter, charging dock, or battery and the electrical outlet. Try plugging your vacuum cleaner in to another outlet. If it is now working, the problem was in the first outlet that you have used. You should contact a certified electrician if you need to fix that outlet.
As the owner`s manual explains, a solid red light means it`s a problem with the blower motor. A steady blinking red light means there`s a problem with the accessory attached to the Rainbow. More details can be obtained from the unit, as well as the Rexair service diagnostic app.
Stop filling up our landfills with disposable vacuums.

To reset your shark vacuum, put the Power button in the On-Off position and keep the vacuum unplugged. If necessary, clear the hose. Once it has cooled completely, plug the vacuum back in again.
You can reset your shark robot in two ways. Manually turn your shark robot upside, find and press the power button for about 10 seconds, give it some 10 – 15 seconds, then turn it back on. Your shark robot will reboot and reset in the process. You can also use the Shark Clean app to factory reset your shark robot.

Hoover Windtunnel On/Off switch will not turn Off…Switch seems to work O.K. when pressed directly but not with handle switch…It will turn on but not off..Cam seems to be intact on switch actuator..How does switch come out? Thanx
Take the handle off, then remove the tool holder, then you can get to the switch. Just has tabs on each side of switch, depress them and push it out. These switches will do this after awhile, replacing them is usually the way to correct the problem.
We have a dyson dc 07 animal the machine was working fine then switched off after returning to the machine minutes later it wouldnt switch on, i removed on off switch cover and used a short piece of wire across the brown wires flicked the wall switch and it worked, aha i thought faulty switch aquired a new one to no avail and now even the short piece of wire trick doesnt work, has the motor died do you think, it wasnt over heating or making strange noises prior to refusing to work
It could be the motor. I’m having to replace the brushes on my DC 05. It appears that you can only get brushes for the YDK motors in the DYSON, not the Panasonic motor. Which might be saying something about the YDK motors. What happens is that the carbon brushes wear down which is normal. However, the contact wire from the brush to its connector is set so that when the brush wears down, the wire is short enough to stop the spring etc from damaging the commutator. The end result is that you get an intermittent operation of the motor before it finally dies.
.I believe all the DYSONs come with the option of both motors and you cannot really tell which motor you have until you take the thing to bits. You also cannot change motors without changing various other parts on the hoover. On my DC 05 the writing on the YDK motor tells you which one it is.
.This website www. tasweb.org ,select the DC 05 option and scroll down tells you how to take the thing to bits. A search on google etc for your DC 07 may give similar results. Best of luck!
My Shop Vac 90L600A is getting electric thru the cord and into the switch, but it doesn’t switch on when you toggle the switch from off to on. Is it a bad switch?
Check the othere end of the switch. You may have a brushes problem in the motor. You will have to check the switch while hot – be careful
Brissel Healthy Home Hepa Vacuum:
On/Off Switch works sporadically. Took handle apart and the switch worked for a while. I am wondering if I need to replace the switch?
Also the Brush Switch is having similar problems.
Might not be the switch there is a connection on the swivel by the base that likes to fail
Switch I have a kenmore 31913 vacuum and the on/off switch appears to be bad. My problem is getting into the switch. How do I open up the handle to get to the switch?
Go to this website
.and enter your complete model number in the search field in the upper.right corner of the page. You should be able to view a parts diagram.that will provide some clues about how to disassemble the handle.
Windtunnel first one used 6 times beater bar stopped working, took apart cleaned and belt was fine. this one had a reset switch for beater bar. had insurance at best buy so returned for a new one. used 2x beater bar not working and not dirty, no reset switch on this one., now back to the store for another? i don’t even want the same one. I wonder how many they are gonna give me. This seems to be a common occurance.
Sorry, you feel like that. I have rentals and 6 windtunnel’s (I prefer the bagged ones) and have never had a problem such as you have described. I think Hoover makes a great vacuum.
My Dyson DC 24’s beater bar switch didn’t actuate and the beater bar didn’t turn. When I brought it to a certified serviceman he told me that a wire interferred with the switch and all he had to do was move the wire out of the way of the switch. At the time the machine was under warrantee and it didn’t cost me anything. Now however, the machine is out of warrantee and the problem has returned. Does anyone know how to access the switch and move the wire out of the way?
Hi- I had the same experience but it turns out there’s a small trip switch if you’ve taken the brush out to clean it, it needs to be reactivated by pressing the small red button to the right of the brush… took me a year to figure this out! Been meaning to get in touch with Dyson. Not sure if this is the same problem that you have.
I have an Easy-Flo central vac unit. The handle on the electric hose has a switch on the handle. With the switch on ”O” in the center, it’s off. On the left, is the ”I” position. The vacuum runs but the power brush doesn’t. On the right is the ”II” position. The switch won’t flip that way. It feels stuck. It feels as if there is something underneath of it that won’t let it push that direction. I have the switch out of the handle, but I can’t seem to get the actual black casing around the
Switches are not usually designed to be dissembled.
I would strongly suggest that you dont take the switch apart. you are better off getting a new one. then if you feel like it you can take the old switch apart and if it dosnt work you still have a new switch. if you decide to dissemble the old switch be vary careful there are very small parts in there that will fall out. and most of the time the casing will crack when you pry it apart.
